This is a cab view of Keikyu, a private railway that uses Shinagawa Station in Tokyo as its main terminal station and runs to the Miura Peninsula via Yokohama and Yokosuka.
This time, I took the train from Misakiguchi Station at the southern end of the Kurihama Line to Shinagawa Station. Part 1 of this video includes the area from Misakiguchi Station to Yokosuka Chuo Station.
Keihin Kyuko, which started operations in 1899 with just a 2km line, aimed at high-speed operation in order to gain a share of the transportation, as most of its lines ran parallel to national railways from the beginning.
That tradition continues today, with Keikyu oriented toward high-speed operation. For this reason, it has become a popular railway among railway fans.
The Kurihama Line, where Misakiguchi Station is located, is essentially the main line for Keihin Kyuko, which operates many limited express trains. There is a single-track section between Misakiguchi Station and Kurihama Station, and land has been prepared for double-tracking, but no additional tracks are currently being built.
There was once a plan to extend the line further south from Misakiguchi, but this plan has been cancelled. One of the reasons is said to be to protect the nature of the area where the railway was to be built.
In this video, the emergency brakes are applied at one point along the way, but this is a measure to confirm the safety of the railroad crossing ahead. The crew responds in a cool.
