They are objects in a box you carry with you and should be easily replaceable if it turns out they're not good. if you think the opinions in the box are who you are then you'll cling to them despite every evidence to the contrary. Bottom line, if you want to be always right you need to always be prepared to change your mind." Loved it

    I'm not quite sure but I think even the German original of the game spells it Catan - I'd have to go all the way to the closet and look for the game.. or ask google. Both of which I can't be bothered to do right now - so no Katan anywhere. But never mind that, yes I want that video as well and yes it is the greatest board game ever. Apart from the really, really crappy space Catan-thingy. That is just bad, not just because Catan needs wooden pieces (and the spaceships keep breaking)

    Honestly, I don't care that there's no schedule. The quality of the vids make it worth it. And in a slightly backwards way, it makes me more appreciative of the effort and time put into creating the videos. Because if there's a schedule I might go "oh, of course he's gonna upload a video." whereas a more scattered upload schedule make every time a video come up a "oh my gosh, a new video!!".

  • @MarkiusFox
    @MarkiusFox10 жыл бұрын

    The cooling down in a hot summer day thing is, I think, related to what people in the middle east do to "keep cool". Or rather, it tricks them in to feeling cooler than they actually are. Think about it. You drink hot coffee, or tea, or cocoa when it is cold to warm you up, but the result when you go back out into said frigid abyss is that it feels even colder than before. Something similar is being happening for those that drink hot tea to "cool off" on a hot day and in no air conditioning. Give it a try, or you could start wearing a scarf (or shemagh) loosely around your neck and then take it off when you get indoors.

  • @IDecisive

    @IDecisive

    10 жыл бұрын

    1. I think that has to do with how different your body temperature is, compared to the environment that you're in. In the example you gave, you go inside (gaining heat from being in a warmer environment compared to outdoors, assuming indoors is warmer), you drink a hot beverage (gaining more heat) and you go back outside. Therefore, the difference in temperature between your body and the environment is now greater than before you warmed up and so you feel like it's colder. In reality, you're just warmer and are rapidly losing the heat you gained not too long ago. 2. Shemaghs keep the sunlight from directly hitting the skin around your head/neck which is why you feel cooler wearing one in a hot, sunny day than you would if you weren't wearing anything to protect your skin. The energy hits the shemagh first so the intensity or focus of the energy is lessened compared to having the energy hit your skin directly. Essentially, you are left warm/hot while wearing a shemagh as protection, rather than being cooked/burnt alive under the sunlight.

    I really idolise this CGP Grey character, very well made videos and content. A few of the things I like most about him, probably like many others is his anonymity, and how he keeps his job as an educator, rather than doing the green-eyed self-centred things most humans would do, which is selling out, and tapping in the money. His anonymity gives a funny sense of mystery, since my physics teacher could be him cause of the similar background, voice and way of talking, it's almost like a real-life educational batman. Well, I'd say my physics teacher is probably not him, but anyway, I love your work CGP Grey, and hope more comes.

    I think that you should keep the ideas that you throw out, but put them in a junk drawer for lack of a better word. Every once in a while, you pull a bunch of stuff out of the junk drawer and mash them all together with a few revisions and jokes added in, in a CGPGrey teaches you random things video. Then you can teach all of the things, and still maintain a level of quality for your videos. Also, why am I not more glad that you like the interrobang‽

    Not sure I agree with your belief that history is the "ceaseless march of science and technology." History is replete with examples of technological setbacks, less technologically-advanced civilizations conquering their more-advanced neighbors, and changes that have little to do with technology. Plus, the ability to advance technologically is in large part the result of culture, government policies, and wealth, so you have to study those other things to understand the "march of science and technology."

    It's just his review philosophy. He believes that a critic criticizes, and so tears apart games regardless of their overall quality. Not to mention, he has done some positive reviews before (ie Psychonauts and The Orange Box), and claimed that people weren't as keen on those.
