Turning 16 this year, and looking into career paths and the coast guard has been what I've looked at the most so far, it's really cool to see somebody who has gone through it and doesn't regret it and also isn't just being paid to do a promo video for the guard, lol.

Please, absolutely keep posting your vids! It's so refreshing to see a young adult with their head together. You're very well grounded and wise beyond your years. I wish you all the best in your career, whether you stay in or just do your 5 year commitment. (After my 10 years enlisted as a Yeoman in personnel I had a second career in the US Postal Service, ending up in Human Resources, thanks to my USCG training. Did 24 years with them and retired at 52 with 34 years federal service. It's been a great life so far). ⛪✌

I would keep posting your videos! They're the only detailed perspective on daily life at the USCGA and CG that I have found on KZread. I went to AIM, and applied to the USCGA for early action. Your videos shed light on what life is like at the academy after boot camp which is something that a lot of potential applicants (including myself) hear very little of.

I’ve watched many of your vids. The last one showed pics of Nolan’s proposal at Harkness. It brought back many fond memories of my days in the 60s farming there and going to the beach after a day full of hauling bales of hay. The vids are great ! Keep them coming. BZ to you both.

Absolutely keep posting videos. It would be good to see how you get on post graduation. As a former Officer myself I know too well the initial challenge of graduating from a College (Britannia Royal Naval College in my case) and going to the Fleet. Humility is a great word and you will find thats a great place to start but as you become more experienced and confident you will see how the excellent relationship between Officers and Senior Enlisted personnel grows. Both have crucial different roles but you have to work together to make the whole thing work - teamwork makes the dream work! Keep posting and let's see how you get on. Good luck!

Over the past year or so, your videos have given me hope and brought peace to my days. I’ve heard you often reference, “spreading light,” and that is definitely something your channel has done. Would 100% continue to watch future content lol. Seeing that there is joy and life to be found living for Christ in a world that tells us different sometimes is an incredible thing!

Please keep making videos you are the only person who posts the USCGA and if it wasn't for you I wouldn't know what USCGA is like. I'm going to defientley apply to the coast guard acadmey. I really think your an inspiration to many people who want to go to USCGA. You also really showed me how important it is to life in faith with the Lord.

I would like to keep seeing videos after you graduate. I've always been curious about the Coast Guard. In fact, I wish I'd done a hitch there instead of the Army. Having served myself, I do understand that the time commitment of active duty (24/7 with no end in sight) can make that impossible and I would understand if you couldn't post. Also, ops can be classified, no advance notice, etc. If you're planning to get out after your hitch, trust me... regret is a huge issue. You be you, but keep in mind, many wish they had stayed for 20.

I like that you are keeping your options open. Don't get me wrong. I think if you make a full career out of the Coast Guard that would be wonderful and you could do a tremendous amount of good there. But there are always other options available and after 5 years you might get a wonderful job offer in the private sector that really excites you. Take it from an old geezer like me... do not box yourself in. Keep your options open until the right time to pick what you want to do comes along. So called ten year plans always, always fall on their behinds. As for whether you should keep doing your videos... as long as you feel like doing them I say keep at it. I work from home so I watch your videos (and a few other people) as little mini breaks during the day. I'm not going anywhere... well unless you turn your VLOG into an ongoing dedicated discussion of which dish washing detergent is the best. I'm not sure how long that would hold my interest.

Erin, another Great Video! Couple thoughts: (1) I attended Grad School at Univ of So.Florida when I was a Lieutenant. The CG paid for all my tuition and fees. I got my masters w/minimal cost to me. A benefit not necessarily available to grads of "Regular College"... unless their employer offers to pay the bill. (2) During Personnel Management class in Grad School, discussed hiring processes and important items. One classmate was USNA Grad who got out and was working in State Government position. He shared that he got to see his application package after it had been reviewed by selection team. TWO things were "circled" for emphasis (not done when he submitted it). One was Eagle Scout and one was USNA Grad. The fact that someone was of quality to get selected for a Service Academy and had the personal strength, drive, attention to detail, etc to earn an Academy Degree says a lot about the person. Academy Degrees are valued! (3) I like your "go somewhere new" philosophy for 1st assignment. It's an opportunity and challenge to seek new adventures! BUT also consider assignment where you can gain responsibility quickly. All Ensigns will have "responsibility" on 1st assignment...BUT they are not all the same. Where can you get more responsibiity and leadership quickly? My first assignment gave me the chance to "fleet up" from Communications Division Officer to Operations Department Head after only 10months. This led to more opportunities for professional growth and more responsibility including Command as a Lieutanant Junior Grade. (4) Don't make the "5 year decision" before it has to be made. The CG has a lot to offer, many challenges to help you grow as a person and a CG Officer. As I say, I always got new assignments that I was interested in doing in places I didn't mind going...so I stayed for a very fullfilling and rewarding 30 year career. (5) Keep making videos... it will help potential CGA Cadets see what they might experience after the Academy...what their career could be like.

CGA "should I go?" Math: Like school + like sports + like the military= FULL SEND The best cadets have all three. With two, you can be sucessful, but not be as happy. If you have one or none of those, do not waste your time. #enlistedgang

It would be great if you could continue to make videos after you go operational but not sure how the Coast Guard will feel about that. Done properly it could be a great selling point for the service but there are always operational security issues to address.
