Part art film, part film noir, Crash Test investigates one of the most controversial artists of this century, Pyotr Pavlensky, through an artwork that triggered an explosion in the media, politics, and public life in France.
On 28th June, 2023 the trial starts in the Paris courts regarding this artwork, Pornopolitics - the world's first pornographic resource involving politicians and government officials. Both Pavlensky and his partner Alexandra de Taddeo will be summoned for broadcasting private, intimate videos of the former Paris mayoral candidate.
Crash Test presents the trajectory to this moment as a head-on collision with the state, revealing the mechanisms of power that govern our lives. Pavlensky provokes a breakthrough in the History of Art, placing the freedom of the artist at the heart of the artistic creation.
The film is produced by a/political and directed by Mina Ighnatova and David Combe. The film also explores Pavlensky's past events and his new art theory of Subject-Object Art.
