CAR VS TRUCK - Rear Underride Crash Test
Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары
Crash test car vs semi truck
Modern semitrailers for the most part do a good job of keeping passenger vehicles from sliding underneath them, greatly increasing the chances of surviving a crash into the back of a large truck, recent tests by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) show. But in crashes involving only a small portion of the truck’s rear, most trailers fail to prevent potentially deadly underride.

I had an accident like these ones many years ago; I was under medication and fool of me I was driving a long distance trip. I must confess that I fell asleep and crashed a trailer, I was driving a 1998 dodge sedan with no airbags, the difference of speed should have been of around 40 mph and the impact was in between 30 and 50% of the front of my car on my side! Fortunately the trailer had a very strong full-width dot bumper, very low and with posts at the outer extremes of it. My car was absolutely destroyed and I got hurt mainly on my left arm but not too bad as I was conscious and left my car walking by myself!! I was extremely lucky.

This is more spine chilling than any other horror movies tbh.
Most American trailers don't have side under-ride guards either. That's why that Tesla driver died, the car went straight underneath cutting the driver's head off.

Tesla driver died because the technology failed to register a fucking big rig in the lane, AFTER the truck driver failed to see him coming. tech and complacency killed the man, not a lack of guards.
@UndergroundPower

+fluffykittynoodles Obviously, a guard on the side of the trailer would stop drivers from dying, when Autopilot failed is another matter entirely.

+Floppydopda maybe. but it more than likely would have never happened if the tech caught the trailer ahead of him, or he was driving.

Heinrick: Dont be scared to drive. Pay attention to it 100% of the time and dont "get stupid" . wrecks happen when people "get stupid" and it may be the other guy that gets stupid so have an escape route mapped for when he does. Make it a habit and in a few years youll find yourself doing it without thinking about it. Expect the unexpected
Best video 👍
I got so into this for some reason, that I found myself cheering at the crashes where the trailer successfully protected the cabin
Being a driver for 7 years, a car rear ends a trailer, you hardly feel anything. Also, while these four wheelers are tailgating, they completely disappear. Scary stuff
so if that's 35 imagine you're car going 180

I saw this happen in real life when I was in high-school about 11 years ago when texting and driving dangers weren't as well known or regulated. The semi truck stopped at a red light and the person in the car was texting and driving going probably 30mph and didn't stop in time. It was fatal, obviously, and scarred me for life. I refused to drive for about 5 years after I witnessed that, and still after I have the utmost respect when I'm behind the wheel because of how dangerous it is to operate a vehicle.
Never tail gating a truck ever - deadwish
why do American Trucks have so much space between where the wheels are and the end of the trailer? Here in Europe trailers are built in a way that the wheels are as close to the rear as possible

And that right there is the problem but for some reason they ignore it. Sliding axles should always be at the rear of the trailer and only moved forward for maneuvering purposes.

Last year there was this exact situation with a family I was close to. (If you wanna see the damage look up “Van Horn crash”) A mom was carpooling her kids along with another family’s children when she slammed into the back of a truck. I guess these guard rails didn’t exist and this is the aftermath. It was also found out later that the mom was distracted while driving. 2 lessons learned from that horrible event.
Brutal, and highly jarring to see Really cool though

Had a similar crash one month ago. A massive tree fell right before my windscreen whilst doing 35. It bounced back up and struck the windscreen head on, rolling over the roof. I can hardly believe I survived that one.
