Justin you have just changed the 4x4 touring vehicle world, people like myself could only dream about owning a super tourer in the 200 or 79 series, now with the Ranger I can actually look beyond my dreams, gotta convince the missus first. You deserve to be as successful as you can be, THANK YOU.

Mate you can tour in any reliable 4WD with some basic mods (far less than are shown in this video even) like suspension, A/T tyres and a bar w/ winch, The right safety/nav/recovery /comms gear etc is more important than gutchi trays with kitchens, tables, solar and rows of light bars. Don't get me wrong that is all awesome if you have the budget but not essential for a good trip exploring.. The Toyota Cultist Elitist Clique has been working hard to denigrate anyone that thinks otherwise and turn their nose up at the non Toyota and non custom mod 100K plus package drivers. Fuck em. Get out there in the vehicle you can afford and enjoy the country mate. Add to it slowly over time rather than put off those trips until you have the "perfect" rig fully built. You may find a lot of the stuff on your dream rig wish list falls by the wayside as you realize in your travels you just don't need it.

one technical note -- aluminum does indeed corrode. It doesn't "rust" because that's a specific type of corrosion related to iron (iron oxide formation = rust). But aluminum does indeed corrode, and rather badly. Definitely keep the thing coated as it is / repair the surface as it gets down the bare metal.

I have been thinking for a while that the next move for Patriot Campers would be to produce a version of the X1 or X2 Camper Trailer that could mount onto the back of a ute - i.e. have most of the features of the camper trailer, but mounted directly onto a ute tray, removing the need to tow a camper trailer... Your concept for super tourer's is great, and being able to implement it for any 1 tonne ute on the market will be key to opening up the market to more customers (and not just the big name utes - do it for utes like the LDV T60, which is much cheaper than say a Ranger or Colorado and you will open up this market to many more customers). Add on the camper module to give a ute most of the capabilities of your X1 or X2 and I think you will reach many more customers. That would be a product set that I would be highly interested in because it means that I would just have one vehicle and no trailer towing hassles when doing beach work or travelling on ferries to places like Tasmania. I imagine it might need a GVM upgrade on most 1 Tonne utes, but that would be a small hassle for all that convenience in one product.

No. A Trayon doesn't cut it for me. Doesn't have nearly the same capability or flexibility of what a Patriot Campers X1 or X2 trailer has - and what I want is the Patriot Campers X1 or X2 built for a tray on a dual cab ute (i.e. without the chassis for the trailer). Similar concept, but very different to a Trayon. Would be even better on one of these Supertourer's instead of on a standard tray - but if Patriot offered the product for any dual cab tray it would simply open up more of the market for them.

Hey guys, very cool build for a budget conscious consumer. What’s the chance of a build for a “family” based full-size SUV? I run a Ford Expedition here in No Utah and it’s comfortable and carries a good amount of gear, but not many get the need for a family rig. The Touring adventurers are becoming more family based and it would be cool to show that market.
