Ravensburger is definitely one of the best puzzle brands out there. It's a worldwide brand with very good quality. I personally like it for the thickness and softness of the pieces. I also like it for the variety of images they offer as well as piece counts. I don't like it for big boxes, dust, and pieces that tend to be a bit glossy. My personal favourites so far are Bluebird (Turkish production) and Enjoy puzzle. I love the cut, small boxes, and matte finished pieces that are so so so cool for the evenings. No glare whatsoever. Recently, I've also discovered new version of Trefl, which is Trefl Prime. I was extremely surprised... The quality went through the roof (positively): new unique cut, great colours, thick pieces, not much glare... I really, really enjoyed it 😉

I agree with everything you said about Ravensburger! And big boxes are a no for me too! I'd much prefer for the boxes to be much smaller 😅 I'll see if I can get any of these brands in Slovenia, to try them out 😊 Trefl Prime you say? I have to check this out because I love Trefl 🤩👌🏻

@@janetteandherpuzzles Just be mindful that Bluebird prints their puzzles in 3 different countries, Poland, France and Turkey. Depending on that, puzzles have different quality. Those manufactured in Poland have Trefl quality (the standard Trefl), because Trefl prints them. Those produced in France are better, different cut, thick pieces, semi-matte finish; decent, I'd say. And the one made in Turkey is the best. So, you always need to check it on the box. If you're buying online, then if on the website it doesn't say what production that Bluebird is, try to ask. I find that often websites that sell puzzles respond to such messages... As far as Trefl Prime is concerned, yes, do check it. Recently, they also introduced giant puzzles. People really like them. The only thing they say is that the pieces are smaller than normal. I know you haven't done any giant puzzle, yet, but, well... anything can happen 😉 If you'd like to check that Trefl Prime I've recently finished and some Enjoy puzzles, check my Instagram "@marta.puzzles". I take photos of all puzzles I build 🙂

One more thing, about those Trefl Prime giant puzzles, they might not entirely be "giant"... I haven't bought any yet, but I've heard that those over 10k-piece puzzles actually comprise of several 1000-piece puzzles (with edges and everything), which is weird... I'm not sure if all are like that. For you, on the other hand, that could be something of interest 🙂And, of course, for others who might not want or have space to do a giant puzzle.

I'm much more lenient to cheaper brands but we've done several fairly cheap puzzles and have yet to see peeling or have missing pieces. If it happened, I'd just shrug it off though. I'd be super upset to see that in a a more expensive brand.

I also love Ravensburger for their cut and print quality. I just wish they would go over their motive selection in the next 2-3 years. For my taste, they have way too many puzzles that fit into ~3 narrow categories (cute animals, landscape photography, and kitsch). I love a lot of those where they deviate from that, such as the lost places series or the underwater ones. Regarding their large ones, they have a lot of very difficult ones (especially old paintings, or landscapes with >2000 green or blue pieces). Other brands are somewhat more innovative on the style and art front in my opinion. I would think that Ravensburger getting a bit more into other styles could be a great addition. To the defense of Ravensburger I have to say though, that their print and cut is so good, that even all-green or all-blue sections in landscapes are usually enjoyable. Also I love this one, which combines animal and lanscape photography, but showcases how both can be done exceptionally well: www.ravensburger.de/produkte/puzzle/erwachsenenpuzzle/elefant-in-masai-mara-nationalpark-15159/index.html I love the vibrant colors, the somewhat unusual setting, and also the expressiveness of the animal (rather than it just being cute).

I agree with basically everything you have said. I do think they're a bit outdated with their puzzles and it honestly annoys me to see the same puzzles in the shop that I have as a background on my videos, which I have assembled and glued about 20 years ago 😅 But that might just be Slovenia's and not Ravensburger's fault 🤷🏻‍♀️ I love the one you showed! I think their nature edition is BEAUTIFUL. I just got one for Christmas - number 9 and it's, by far, the most beautiful puzzle I have seen. It'll most likely end up on my wall 😂🙈

I live in Poland and I've only tried 3 brands of puzzles - Clementoni, Castorland and Trefl. Trefl is my favourite, Castorland is good too, but the puzzle pieces are a bit smaller and I prefer the Trefl ones. I don't like Clementoni that much. They're not bad but the fit is very loose so it's hard to pick up bigger finished sections if you want to move them around and it's harder for me to know if two pieces fit together or if it's a false fit. I want to try Ravensburger too, but they're almost double the price of Trefl and Castorland so I haven't gotten around to it yet. Everytime I look for puzzles to buy, the temptation of buying two instead of one is just too strong XD

I've heard of Castorland having smaller pieces, but I've never tried it - we don't have it in Slovenia, so I'd have to buy it online. Good to know that the quality is good! 😊👌🏻 Interesting about Clementoni though - I have heard that the quality of the brand can vary based on where the puzzle is being printed, but in Slovenia, I very much like the quality of Clementoni. I find Clementoni has better cut and fit than Trefl here 🤷🏻‍♀️ and it's also almost double the price - Ravensburger range. Ravensburger is nice, but like you said, it's more expensive. I would say it's good to try a Ravensburger, but you don't have to do it at the full cost - try FB Market, go to a charity shop, or try to exchange with someone. I'm sure you'll be able to get it somewhere 😉

Brands are all about your perception of them and how well you think they are made and how well the pieces fit. One person's best brand could be someone else's medium brand. Ravensburger have cornered the market in terms of quality, it's rare to have a bad experience of a Ravensburger. My other favourites are Gibsons, Falcon/Jumbo, House of Puzzles, Clementoni, Cloudberries and Wentworth wooden puzzles.

I agree. If you don't like the style of the artwork on the puzzle, and that is important to you, you can hate any brand. But I think some of them are objectively crafted better regarding the quality of the pieces and also the colors. Today you can get basically any motive on a puzzle of medium size (300-2000 pieces), but having a really good cut and top-notch print like the Ravensburger puzzles (and some others) have, at least to me, makes a huge difference.

Hi, great channel! Could you please do some finished look comparisons? I found Ravensburger to be substantially worse than Trefle, Clementoni and Art Puzzle when it comes to visibility of border between pieces. Both of mine Ravensburger have really strong borders and it looks so bad when you look at them up close, all the small details are ruined.

@@janetteandherpuzzles Thank you for the reply! Great, can't wait to see that! I'd suggest using the ones with a lot of light parts (sky, clouds, snow) and the ones with a lot of small text on light surfaces - like those antique world maps. Lets say compare 4-5 different brands Antique World Map puzzles and let people vote which one looks the best :) The most accurate way would be finding the exact same pic of different brands but that would be hell of a boring thing to complete just for the sake of an experiment :D So maybe just find similar ones :)

I bought a clementoni puzzle this year, 2000 pieces, "View of China". Beautiful image. Unfortunately, it was four pieces short and had four repeats. They were very kind to answer me when I contacted them but they could not help me because they have no support in my country, Uruguay. I didn’t dare buy another one of the same brand for that reason. Too bad because the quality seemed good.

What pissed me of was the quality was so bad then even the title pieces with their words felt like i almost needed a mallet to hammer them in. Hi! I'm sorry to hear that! Wishing you a quick recovery! 🤗 Ok so easy, but not too easy - in that case, I would advise you to get Schmidt, Ravensburger or Clementoni puzzle - they are great brands, and you won't get misfits. When the quality of the puzzle is good, then the puzzle will never be too difficult, because even when the picture is difficult, the piece cut will help you finish the puzzle. And then picture wise, anything with clear sections or a gradient puzzle is the easiest, and anything with a lot of same colour is more difficult. Hope that helps 😁

I also own a Ravensburger puzzle that is pixelated based on the design on it. I think that it is a problem with some of the digital artwork they do / use. The photography motives never have that problem. Regarding the fit, I would agree that some of them easily fall apart, especially the older ones with some knobless borders between pieces. I do have misfits sometimes, but never had a case where, at a closer look, it was unclear. I attribute that to myself or the lighting :D
