Putin’s offensive in Kharkiv could come at great costs | Jerome Starkey
“If Putin is not able to concentrate enough force, then we might see a situation similar to Zaporizhzhia…where there are daily confrontations, some movement on the front lines, but very, very little.”
Russia and Ukraine are stuck in a “stalemate” as Russia makes “slow gains” in Kharkiv, says The Sun’s defence editor Jerome Starkey.

He's speaking past tense! This is a fluid conflict when the "tide turns" it flows quickly! Breaking through the "Stoltenberg Line".....in Bakhmut and Avdeyevka has seen territory gained grow 5 fold. Now with the Kharkov counter probe by 2000 soldiers. Ukrainian reserves in Avdeyevka West region are withdrawing and hurriedly moving to Kharkov. This will see even faster territory gains by Russia in Avdeyevka. As its also already liberated 14 small towns in Kharkov. As for great cost there is no evidence of heavy casualties suffered by Russian troops. A massive softening by artillery fire and aviation was inflicted for three days before the probing platoons went forward achieving significant success.

Given that, as admitted in the Pentagon papers, the casualty ratio is 7:1 in Russia's favour, what is the cost for Ukraine?
@xxrockraiderxx
24 күн бұрын
Err no, that was the Russian edit of said papers. The original papers had it closer to a 5:1 casualty ration in favour of Ukraine. So for every soldier Ukraine was losing, Russia was losing about 5. If you drill down to certain battlefields then it gets better or worse for the Ukrainians but as a whole Russia has varifiably lost more men from this war, even only using open source intelligence. The current ratio has been worse for Ukraine, closer to 3:1 in their favour. What it comes down to is the starting population size difference and the fact that 3:1 in Ukraines favour is still unsustainable for Ukraine due to their smaller starting pool of available manpower.

We have seen it in Ukraine a lot. Thats what the lies about the Terror attack in moscow was about. About 10 minutes after it happened the western media and politicians all new exactly who did it and they warned Russia. Both were lies, but thats what stuck and of course covered off the fact we were behind it.
Its never about costs for russia. Their resources will last for years to come. Its about weakening the already horrific manpower shortage that Ukraine has. Once they establish a proper supply chain and a chain of command, russia will be there to stay, and will proceed to encircle eastern Ukraine from the north. Extraordinary cost to Russia - is that what they think or what we think? For the last little while Russia has been losing around 900 people per day (dead and wounded) while the birth rate is around 4200 per day. From 900 casualties the no if deaths might be 300-400, with the rest able to recover to some level. So the current losses is

You guys never learn. I can assure you that this offensive will fail, like all the other Russo offences. You were the same in Feb 2022 - “oh yes, Kyiv will fall by the weekend” How did that go? Just report, don’t try to be Nostradamus.
There was no Kharkiv counteroffensive victory for Ukraine. Russia had too few men to defend it. So they withdrew in good order inflicting heavy casualties on the Ukrainians as they did. Now the situation is reversed. After 2 years of attrition Ukraine is on it's last legs. They are short of men, particularly well trained and motivated men. They have no air cover or defense. They have little artillery and ammo. Unless they are very unlucky the well trained and supported Russian forces should be able to make substantial gains for little cost .

It’s funny how everything done by Russia, is according to Times Radio at great cost, very slow etc. 12 villages captured in 36 hrs is reasonably rapid in my view. Ukraine is done it’s lost you guys need to stop all the hopium …..if this, if that, if the other never going to happen thing. It’s over bar the shouting. Yes it will take a few months but it ends this year I think!
NATO could not control 3% of Afghanistan capital, Kabul for 20 years. They practically trap themselves in a green zone from were they launch attacks against peasants.
Huge cost for Ukraine?. Even the Ukraine government says that they are short of man. But these infentiles cannot understand the reality.
Looks like a distraction
Russia will liberate Kharkov from Zelensky and the West. Russia will demand Kharkov in any peace deal. Any tinkering will mean the Russian steam roller will continue. Russia will soon demand Kiev as well!
