Putin panics as NATO hints at troops in Ukraine | Operator Starsky

"It's a good sign for us. People are afraid of escalation, but people must understand that until Russia is not ruled by this terrorist regime of Vladimir Putin, the escalation will continue regardless of NATO."

American watching from the State of Rhode Island in the U.S.-great-infprmative and interesting discussion-always nice and interesting to hear from Operator Starsky-a recent poll here in the U.S. showed that 75% of Americans support continued support for Ukraine-and I would count myself in that number. It is deeply frustrating to everyone I know that a mere few in congress are holding up funding.

No that incorrect, I'm going to assume your just uninformed rather than actively trying to deny the course of events that led us into this mess... This started in 1991 following Ukraine's independence after the dissolution of the Soviet Union. Ukraine first joined NATO's Partnership for Peace program in 1994, later joining the Planning and Review Process in 1997 and the NATO-Ukraine Commission in 1998. Although Ukraine initially declared neutrality and non-alignment with military blocs after independence, It later signaled interest in eventual NATO membership. After Russia's annexation of Crimea and support for separatist forces in eastern Ukraine in 2014, Ukraine began actively pursuing NATO membership, formally declaring it a strategic policy objective in 2017 The west has been working on Ukraine joining NATO since the 90's and after the coup in 2014 that displaced the legitimate government threatening the Neutrality that had protected its borders for 20+ years it replaced it with a Pro Western one that spawned a civil war between East and West Ukraine. NATO, pushed..and Pushed...and Pushed until it all blew up in their face and the Ukrainians have paid the price... Any more questions? @ubby5138

It would be a defensive mission only, no direct attacks on Russia. But it will also be a security guarantee for Ukraine, that the war will primarily stay in the East, because now European military will be defending and guarding in the West. If Russia wants to escalate the war with Europe, well I would highly recommend against it, but most likely Russia would keep fighting in the East and not want to drag all of NATO into the war. Then Ukrainian soldiers would be freed to go fight and claim back territory in the East. That would, probably end the war in Ukraine's favor quite quickly.

If a politician tells the truth they will still just spin it so it means what they want it to mean, and people will believe it. Subversion is a two way street as well, you can't subvert a populace that doesn't want to be subverted. Politicians are just a cog in this machine of systemic abuse, even the abused shares some responsibility. You can't fix that with any amount of laws.

They don't need to lie when the media does it for them 24/7. Look at RFK, as a candidate I believe he has been as forthright as possible and they buried him with ease. A lot of people aren't even interested in the truth, they need the media to dispense information through a filter that confirms their biases. So in that sense, even the governed share a responsibility in the lack of honesty. What you're suggesting wouldn't work unless you also pass a law that people cannot accept lies as reality, because subversion is a two way street as Yuri Bezmenov put it.

That really not correct...and here's why: 1. Because of decades of reliance on the U.S.A.'s military-industrial complex to design, develop & manufacture military equipment/weaponry/munitions, most of Europe, plus Canada, Australia, New Zealand & other allies of Ukraine cannot adequately make up for the loss of U.S. material support. While these allies of Ukraine are doing their best to make up for the shortfall by increasing production of some military goods, the fact is that it will be impossible for these allies to provide Ukraine with massive quantities of crucial military goods in the short & medium term. Yes, in a way, the dysfunction & pro-Putin politics of the Republican Party of the U.S.A. has provided further impetus for other governments to accelerate their increase in defence spending (..almost all were already increasing it..), but this will not help Ukraine right now...and pro-Putin puppets like Trump, Speaker Michael Johnson & other MAGA Republicans know this. 2. Of course, this begs the following question: "Why are Ukraine's other allies so depending on the U.S. military-industrial complex?" The reason is that the U.S.A. is the most militarized democracy in the world, so its military-industrial complex is huge & it has always held the advantage of scale when bidding for contracts. Consequently, over time, defence contractors in Europe & elsewhere have suffered, so understandably they have had to scale-down their manufacturing significantly. This has left Ukraine's allies highly-dependent on the U.S.A. to provide military assets, especially those which are required in huge quantities (..such as artillery rounds, bullets, spare parts, soldiers' kits, etc..). 3. Furthermore, the U.S.A. has over 200 military bases around the world & is almost always involved in, or is supporting military actions around the world, and these realities have two relevant impacts: (a) the U.S.A. is constantly replacing military assets, creating upgraded & brand new designs of equipment, weaponry & munitions, and (b) unlike the rest of Ukraine's allies, the U.S.A. does not need to sell off its older military assets to 2nd or 3rd-world nations in order to afford the latest & greatest equipment, weaponry & munitions. Consequently, the U.S.A. can assist Ukraine by sending mainly older, often-decommissioned military materials (..which were'nt going to be needed anyway..), rather than...as is the case with other 'western' nations...sending their limited stocks of the most modern assets .

The US House Speaker received a donation in 2018 from Konstantin Nikolaev, according to Newsweek magazine. He was an owner of American Ethane, and the Ammunition factors in Tula, Russia. While the Speakers office says they returned the donation, he was asked a few months ago on Fox News why he didnt have a registered bank account.

What you've discussed are great examples of a much much larger 'elephant in the room' in the U.S. and in some European nations, AND I strongly believe that this 'elephant in the room' goes a long way towards explaining the real reasons behind the flaccid & feckless 'support' to Ukraine provided by the U.S.A.', Germany, and a few other European nations. Not only are these failures & the reasons behind them indefensible, but it renders criticisms of Ukraine to be extremely hypocritical...specifically Russian misinformation re corruption in Ukraine & similar parroted rhetoric from compromised/corrupt/naive/gullible 'western' politicians/media ! Unfortunately, relatively few journalists/politicians among Ukraine's 50+ 'allies' have had the moral courage to discuss the issue as you (..and I..) have done via social media.😡So, kudos!... and keep on sharing the uncomfortable truth, so that Ukraine can be victorious!👍Slava Ukriani !!!✊

It's crucial to swiftly bring this prolonged conflict to a close to avert a catastrophic outcome. It's a senseless and destructive war instigated by a leader who lacks competence and understands that his authority will crumble once the reality dawns on the Russian people. Sadly, this conflict has resulted in significant loss of life, with nearly half a million soldiers killed or injured. The dictator continues to enlist underprivileged, uneducated young men from Siberia to fight a war in which they have no say.

They claimed to have achieved their three main objectives which were an illusion invented to provide political cover to their military retreat. During the nine years they pressed the war Russian combat deaths were as high as 26K depending on how the figures were measured. In two years in Ukraine, Russia has already lost between 300-400K troops and obscene amounts of military hardware yet they press on. This begs the obvious question, "how many more men and how much more equipment must Russia lose and how much longer will they continue to press contrary to military and humanitarian logic before executing a similar withdraw and cover story in Ukraine?

Joining NATO is only logical. Russia clearly showed, how it honours neutrality on Ukraine. The problem with propaganda is, that the amount of Russian propaganda on the internet is massive. And there are politics, that thrive on this propaganda, using manipulated people to get to power. Like here in Slovakia with Fico and co. The good thing about my country is, that when something gets really out of hand, people mobilize and go out in the streets. Most people don´t care about politics, but they care about their freedom.

A big part of the problem is that, in the U.S.A. & some other 'western' nations, many/most citizens & politicians are not 'media literate', insufficiently educated, not capable of critical thinking, apathetic re international politics & very naive/gullible. (..IMHO, exceptions include the Baltic States & Scandinavian countries...) This makes the population & its leaders vulnerable to foreign & domestic sources of misinformation/propaganda, extremist rhetoric, the draw of 'the cult of personality', and populism...with all of these being enemies of stable & strong democracies.

Russia's propaganda machine works well around the world because it gets LOTS of practice on its own people. This keeps the peasants far more passive than in the past, and the contrast with 1917 in the state of people suggests that most of the hardships faced by Russian people at the moment are the difficulties in obtaining 'luxuries,' rather than necessities. In 1917, it was more issues of necessities that were unavailable to the peasantry. There are plenty of people in Russia who were alive during the later years of the Soviet Union (only 35 years) and recognize the times then were not necessarily enough to create an uprising. So it will take a lot more than this for a 'peasant' uprising, but major failures in the war, and the horrendous losses when they become public, may be enough to spark a trend that pushed the oligarchs to depose Putin, or get someone to bump him off.

It assumes long-term Russian superiority, but neglects Ukraine's far longer claim to existence and control of territory, merely making it a footnote to Russian imperialism. His understanding of modern politics is based on the idea that a parasitic kleptocracy can bleed a nation white without any adverse effects on said nation, in defiance of modern economics. His understanding of military strategy hasn't changed since the 19th century, and the modern ideas of security and deterrence and even peaceful co-existence are not something he seems to be comprehend. As a result, he has driven Russia into a death spiral, and this Ukrainian adventure may be the beginning of the last act of Russia being a distinct ethnic and national entity. In the uk, younger people aren’t interested in getting involved that way, an example is when they said conscription may be needed to bolster armed forces numbers, most people were not interested, they would refuse. People do not know what we would be fighting for.

You no nothing about this war. Read some factual unbiased books. The provocation over many years has given the US industrial military complex the war it wanted so it could make billions out of arms sales. Out of honest tax payers money. 450 000 young Ukrainian soldiers dead...that is 10 for every 1 Russian, and for what? USA would not allow Russian missiles in Cuba, and Putin will not allow Bio-weapons on its weakest border and a puppet government set up by the CIA. Average age of Ukrainian soldier now is 45 years old, the young are dead or have fled the county. It is utter slaughter. Utter madness. A deal needs to be done. Putin will not give up the Donbas.

If Russian state wants to go back and live in the dark ages, I suppose that is their choice, but we will do everything in our power to ensure that the rest of the civilized world stays free and prosperous. Article 5 says that all NATO nations respond to an attack on one as an attack on all. It is defensive. What is stopping one NATO nation from aiding a non-NATO state in its own defense?
