“First off, don’t throw out your sunscreen.” Me, eyeing my bottles of purito sunscreen: ...ok, fine. I use the physical comfy water sunblock instead of the chemical one...because it’s always sold out and the physical one is (sometimes) the only one left, but now I’m lowkey suspicious of that one too...whatever the case, we’ll just need more info! Thank you for your no-nonsense presentation on stuff like this.

I think it is not good to think negatively about other brands as this could just be a Purito error :/ however, it is very serious and the fact this is an spf 19 is shocking. Considering they said it was an spf 80 and claiming it is higher than European brands. I honestly think there are great Korean brands and I think the ones I have used have been good. Although, for now, I am sticking with my European and Australian spf 50s!

Even SPF 15 is way better protection than none (I think SPF 15 still blocks over 90% of rays). I only trust some japanese brands (especially shiseido/anessa) and a few european brands like Uriage, Isdin, LRP, etc. Not going to be as cosmetically elegant as these lovely korean sunscreens but if you want to take SPF super seriously then I would go elsewhere

This is a portion of the latest response directly from Purito: The manufacturer of the product had a long history of developing quality sunscreen products and high technology, thus the marked SPF and PA index was not questioned by the brand. Moreover, the SPF 50, PA++++ of the PURITO Centella Green Level Unscented Sun was officially approved by the KFDA before the product was launched on the market. However, recently, we have received a significant amount of inquiries on clarification of the SPF and PA index of the product, that’s when we decided to verify once again the manufacturer's registration with the KFDA and the authenticity of the registered documents, we have assured that there was no problem. The product has been legally recognized by all aforementioned parties, however, due to the recent debates, we decided to conduct our own research on the efficacy of the sunscreen. In order to obtain precise results currently PURITO has requested the performance of both in-vivo and in-vitro tests for all three PURITO sunscreen products, other than the initial test conducted by the testing lab and the manufacturer. Although the results have not yet been released, we have acknowledged the seriousness of this issue. We have been closely monitoring the test results that were recently published online. As a result of which, we are pausing the sales of PURITO Centella Green Level Unscented Sun, PURITO Centella Green Level Safe Sun, and PURITO Comfy Water Sun Block until the details are fact-checked and confirmed by the parties aside from the initial manufacturer and testing lab.

Like yeah, it’s mostly my holy grail because it literally feels like a serum, there’s no whitecast, and it doesn’t pill at all. This sunscreen was basically the complete opposite of the past, less favorable sunscreens however.... maybe what makes the purito sunscreen so “great” is actually a sign of it not being a complete sunscreen. So I’d honestly have a sunscreen that does what it’s supposed to do versus a serum that has the label “spf” on it.. better safe than sorry. @@hypsior I didn't feel discomfort, but again, this year I didn't go out as much as we might in the summer of 2021. Also I have pretty resilient skin, and the Centella and the moisturising factors in this sunscreen helped calm down the redness and irritation from the retinoic acid, so even if you are not going to use it as a sunscreen it is a wonderful ally on your skin retinization journey because of the other wonderful ingredients. I love this cream even just as an everyday moisturiser, but at the same time had I known it wasn't really shielding my skin from sun damage, I might have included another sunscreen on top of it for UV protection. I hope they reformulate it with SPF50 because it truly is a wonderful product. It's not a waste of money don't worry. Small tip, I suggest you buy sunscreen right before when you know you'll use it. Buying it know and let it sit months in your drawer until summer might not be the best idea because of the products' shelf life. It's not a great idea , for actives and spf especially.

It makes me cringe so hard to think of all the days I went outside with this on thinking I was getting SPF 50 but it was only 19!! That’s the thing that really bothers me about this. The discrepancy is huge. It’s not like they found it’s SPF 40 or 30... it’s 15-19. All of these months I could have chosen a different product that would have more adequately protected my skin, but I was misled. Hell, I would have used the stickiest, white-castiest sunscreen over this to get the protection I need. It’s hard to come back from this.

Spf is just one of the essentials. If you didnt see any major damage after this summer, I think you are ok. It is ideal I know but just now use other spfs! I personally am using my European spfs again as I do think Australian and European spfs are the best in the world. This is not an isolated incident as you describe. Australia has some of the strictest regulations on sunscreen. An independent organisation called ‘Choice’ tested 7 popular sunscreens in Australia and only 2 out of the 7 had the correct SPF as advertised.

I love how you always speak in different languages! Even if it´s not perfect, you try to respect the pronunciation as much as possible. This is so refreshing as opposed to many people who simply say: "I murdered that" or "No idea how to say it". I am a fan of languages and I love learning different words or simply saying things as closely as possible to their original language. I have noticed this on many of your videos and I love it! Cultural knowledge/curiosity is power and you glow in it, girl!

the thing i'm mad about is i had been using retinoids (at night) and using this in the day wondering why i would get red around my eyes like it was being sun damaged. At least you were applying a sunscreen! I've seen people not use sunscreen while using retinoids 😬 Using a sunscreen with spf 19 is stil better than using nothing! It still protected your skin to a certain extent, I hope you were re-applying it too.

Is there anything out there about how much of a percentage we should look for when researching our sunscreens? Like I know that this one has a 3% and a 2% but how do I know whether that is good enough or not? And what should I look for in the future? I hate mineral sunscreens and don't have a large budget for the more expensive ones.

When it comes to zinc, I always look for above 20% tbh. 22% provides UVAPD of about 25 which is in the ++++. I never found mineral spfs from Korea had enough zinc %. So good ones! Bioderma mineral spf 50, supergood unseen spf is good!!

Dear Cassandra, I'm truly grateful for you brought up this topic over. I'm an Australian and every year, in Australia: 1.Skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers. 2.The majority of skin cancers are caused by exposure to the sun. 3.The incidence of skin cancer is one of the highest in the world, two to three times the rates in Canada, the US and the UK. So, after watching so many KZread videos by so many popular KZreadrs, I went on and bought from YES STYLE what you exactly holding in your hand just to protect my self from unforgiving Australian sun. Luckily, Australian cosmetic industry is well regulated. Cosmetics in Australia are classified as industrial chemicals. “National Industrial Chemicals Notification and Assessment Scheme (NICNAS)” is responsible for managing industrial chemicals (cosmetics) and Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) regulates the product safety and cosmetic labeling standards. Therapeutic goods are managed by Therapeutic Goods Administration. TGA is responsible for formulating and implementing the regulations concerning registration of sponsors, advertising, labeling and manufacturing of therapeutic goods. Now here comes the best part; Amorepacific is the very first South Korean cosmetic company to enter the Australian beauty market in 2018 with their brand 'Laneige’ then "innisfree" and they have few flagship stores around the country. However,Amorepasific are not allowed to sell any of their sunscreens in Australia! The reason, as per one of the Amorepacific Australia Pvt Ltd senior staff member told me was South Korean SPF ratings are much lower than the Australian SPF ratings. It's exactly what you saying on your video, when South Korean cosmetic companies claim & labeled South Korean Sunscreens in South Korea SPF50++++ then when they got tested here in Australia by NICNAS, ACCC & TGA , they were actually below SPF20+!!! Unfortunately, people all over the world are allowed to buy them on popular online platforms under false impressions that these sunscreens will protect them.
