No offence intended, but I’m curious why Vanessa chose to buy a puppy instead of adopting?
@girlwiththedogs212

Great question! I have very small dogs, one of which does not like large breed dogs unless he grows up with them from puppyhood. In addition to that, adopting an adult large breed dog could be dangerous to my small dogs. Not because they could be aggressive, but because there is a chance a large dog could accidentally injure a small one when playing or jumping around, etc. I have adopted small dogs, and one day in the future when I don't have my "littles" anymore I will definitely adopt large breed dogs. These teeny tiny dogs are cute but they are so fragile. It can be really stressful constantly worrying about their safety. A damn hawk could eat them 🤦♀️

To add, sometimes dogs in your area aren't always suitable for your lifestyle. You should adopt a dog, yes. But is that dog right for you? You'd be forcing that dog to live a life they're not really suited for and your pets/children/etc may not mesh well with the particular dog you have your eye on. You shouldn't force a dog to live in your household if you can't give to them what they need. While it's true all dogs are unique, even within their respective breed, they still need a bare minimum that you can give to them. So explore breed specific rescues. Or purchase from a very reputable breeder. Adoption is not the perfect option. If it is the best choice for you and you have found the dog that fits you and your life, you should choose adoption. Our goal should be an empty shelter. Adopting a dog from the shelter only to bring it back when it doesn't fit the way you live does more damage. They're pets. They're for life.

Unfortunately show dog "looks" is what she's talking about. Where people breed dogs with noses so short they can't breath or eyes that bug out so much that they live in constant, low grade pain as a result. In the case of German Shepherds it's usually rear legs that stick out at a bizarre angle because some show dog judge thought that "looked" good. I've grown more tolerant as I've grown older so I don't have a lot "if I were the king of the world" moments anymore, but shutting down all show dog events and prohibiting breeders that cater to that mind set is never coming of that list.

Smart! I washed/ wiped mine off with slightly soapy water and a wash cloth, tip to toe after every walk (and then dried/ brushed-out his long fur), as he would drag his head/ upper body through the bushes when he was reading the pee-mail. Also, we lived in Hong Kong, where the heat, humidity and frequent monsoon rains/ mud/ sand made things really stinky, really quickly -- as I discovered the first time I went to kiss the top of his nose/ muzzle. Pee-euw! 😀. He ALSO liked to find fresh cow pies when we were out hiking (the Trappist Monastery cows roaming loose), and would roll in them, to cover his own scent. I learned to always bring a small container of shampoo and to know the location of hoses for public use, so as to wash him before going home if possible. Once we met the congregation just coming out of church, and people were wanting to pet "the cute doggie" - had to say no, as he was CAKED in fresh cow-pies. 😕 Yuck! Cheers!!

My big boy GSD Reilly will still immediately come over and roll into your lap with all four gigantic paws in the air if you sing "baby baby baby bug!" to him. Just a little nonsense song I used to make up on the spot when he was lying belly up across my lap when he was a puppy getting tummyrubs. It doesn't matter what the words are as long as you open with and occasionally interject a few Baby Baby Baby Bug!-s here and there. He might weigh 110 lbs and be huge and athletic but he will always be the Baby Bug. I'm a firm believer in the Singing Nonsense To Your Pups school of dog companionship.

I did something similar with my two new cats (an adult and a kitten). I let them have free rein to explore the bathroom and I'd play with them in the tub so they'd have a positive experience. I also had them in the room when I took showers so they knew what sounds they might encounter. My shower has a detachable showerhead and sliding doors, so I get in a bathing suit and go into the shower with them when I bathe them. It makes cleaning them a lot easier and less chances of escaping. They were still stressed about it, but I gave them treats each step of the way and they eventually accepted their fate. No grudges either once they were done. The toughest part was the pet blow dryer I have. I basically treated them like rabbits getting shots (make them face me and hide their face in my arm) and brushed and blow-dried their fur that way. Wearing a thick, fluffy robe also helped reduce scratches on my arms and legs while providing something for them to grip on and hide their face better.

Every 3 months is usually fine enough and won't cause skin issues. I currently do mine once a month though, just to get them used to the experience and water.

On the 2nd night I had my boy, a flat coated retriever, we put him in his crate for night and he would not settle down. Crying for all most an hour, I was a good mommy and took my pillow and blanket and laid beside him with my hand inside the crate on the floor. He calmed down immediately and fell asleep, after that he was fine! 🥰

One just used to pick up all 4 legs, tucked under her body and lay on them with an angelic look on her face. 4 of our 6 worked with my husband on the farm. 2 were bred for looks but could never be shown. Hope you have lots of mad, fun and loving times with her.
What a blessed puppy. Having the opportunity to view a responsible owner and a professional in her field of work. Owners of dogs choose this highly achieved young woman to have their pets groomed. Some have free treatments. Puppy tutorial, awe is, 💖 heart warming 💖 💓 😊
Such a drama queen, Lupa sounded like she was trying to summon a demon when the blowdryer came on 😂
German Shepherds are very likely to be not motivated by food. It's what in part makes them good watch dogs. They can't be bribed by strangers, with poisoned food or whatever.

Our black GSD Maggie wouldn't accept food from strangers however our Bernese Mountian dog Loretta & Border Collie Alice that's a completely different situation.
My "sister" is a senior German Shepherd and I love seeing puppers that look like her. Lupa is a beautiful girl who I’m sure will grow up to be an amazing companion (and helper, if you choose to train her for such)!
LOL, poor Lupa's cries are freaking out my black GSD!

I've, always, wondered about that.
She was a good girl for her second time.
Your video had me tearing up bringing back memories of our little GSD's first bath when we brought her home at 11weeks and her ears weren't even up. Our dogs are identical working line black GSDs, just beautiful and just as vocal as ever. Mine is 5 now. Please do more videos with Lupa in the future!
She almost has the Husky howl down pat.
She may not be bred for looks, but she is gorgeous and amazing and so cute.
Lucky you! A black GDS puppy! She's so cute, love that little face.
So cute! Gidget should be Lupa’s buddy ball of hair for grooming
As a former social worker I must inform everyone.... ADOPTION TAKES A VERY SPECIAL PERSON. Regardless if it's a pet or a child, not everyone has the patience and skill set to adopt. This is how you get kids that go until 18 unadopted and dogs that keep getting returned to the shelter.

Why is adoption always tied to adopting an adult dog? I mean, it still takes patience and skill set to buy and have a dog, any dog, so I don't see why is dog adoption such a fundamentally different thing that requires some sort of special effort, risk, or work? If you adopt an adult dog yes, but I mean, I don't see how buying an adult dog is any different...

@@Kate-is5mz Most people don't buy adult dogs... people tend to buy puppies. Adult dogs are the same as adult people in that they could've developed several less than desirable habits and behaviors. Most people don't want to deal with some of the behaviors they may exhibit.
"She was bred for looks." She looks so beautiful, though.
I would like to squeeze that puppy 🐶 she is soooo cute 🤗😘
I can’t wait to see her progress to being a grooming champion! What a sweet baby with those big ears!! ❤
She is so adorable. I would not have been able to let her panic like that. Good job, Lupa and Girl with the Dogs!
This dog is insanely smart. Its THINKING. A LOT
Hi Vanessa. just received the equigroomer. the wild mature cat with frost bitten ears that adopted us loves his brush. the happy hoodie might take a while . Thank you for your channels
Oh, my, I just love your little Lupa! You calling her a suckie baby just warmed my heart as that was what I called my Kashmir (mini toy Aussie) when she was being, well, a suckie baby. Lol
Lupa is one of the cutest pups I’ve ever seen. ❤
You are awesome! Thank you 😊
Lupa is so adorable I cant even! 😭😭 ❤❤
She doesn't care about her peanut butter stuck to the wall - she's got her favorite toy instead! YOU! 😀🥰
Oh my goodness. She is so cute! One day, she will love her spa day. Today isn't that day, but one day, lol.
She’s adorable. My service dog Remy loved peanut butter. She would’ve been all over that sticky mat. Lol.
Lupa brought tears to my eyes. Ooooooh baaaby noooo
I cried. This video oozes love. Thank you, Vanessa
I will anxiously await to see her grown and learn to love being groomed. She's going to be a stunning dog.
she’s stunning omg
Lupa is adorable! I've never seen an all black German Shepherd before, and she's a beauty!
I love how you try to reassure the adorable pup when she was crying...thank you for all you do for every dog you groom and for taking the time to treat them as individuals and cater to their needs and stress levels💞💕💞
She’s such a beautiful puppy, Vanessa. I like how she looks so different from the familiar standard German shepherd dog.
Floppyboppy ears. Beautiful pup!
What a little beauty she is.......
This is the pup you adopted? So so gorgeous!
It's so heartbreaking to hear her screaming because of the drier but I know she is fine. Plus of course she is fine! Vanessa takes such wonderful care of all animals and this puppy is her's so seeing all of the attention is so sweet. Such a beautiful baby girl, so dramatic but she will warm up to it all I hope. Hope to see her again and again for grooming.

Imho this is pushing too hard. You can get them used to the necessary evils of life more gradually.
She is a beauty!
I wish they would always stay that little. Shes sooo precious
my wgsd was never food motivated. The only motivation she had was a ball; or actual boiled liver lol high prey drive. btw congrats on your new pup, she's absolutley beautiful!!
She's beautiful! I hope we'll see videos of her growing up.
She is very Beautiful. Lupa is the epitome of a German Shepard. They are my second most wanted dog. I have had the pleasure of getting to be around my step Dad's German Shepard. Absolutely great dogs.
my puppy was convinced that murder was being done just from Lupa's cries... oh gosh...lol turning down sound now... She is so very beautiful!
Lupe did very well for her second bath. I love her ears. She's so cute.
Thank you for the information.
My dog is very stressed....theres a puppy crying somewhere!! 🤣🤣
Vanessa: Turns the dryer on Lupa: BETRAYAL! FIEND! MURDER MOST FOUL!
I now have a Bambini, he is nearly 13 weeks old 75% German Shepard and 25% Malamute, he has had 3 showers so far and I use a standard hair dryer and yes he hates it, but is getting used to it.
Love your primer on using peanut butter or not. My pup LOVES it, but she has GI issues and the high fat causes intestinal bleeds. I found this out the hard way, unfortunately. Thanks for your great vids!

Hello Michelle!👋Merry Christmas and a happy new year in advance ❤🎉
Mommy how COULD you??😭 MAMA! NO! Very BAD machine!😄 What a lil love bug!❤🤗🐶👍🏽 CUTEST face!
Congradulations on getting a black German Shepherd; I remembered some time back you said this breed is your favorite. Mine too.
Thank you so much for sharing this very honest video/puppy experience! I'm so encouraged to see a puppy be... well, a puppy---and someone be so calm while dealing with the puppy-ness haha! Enjoy your beautiful baby!
I wondered if you would end up with one of those 10 puppies You could tell you really fell in love with them She’s gorgeous lucky you
her teeny lil wet feetprints on the table oh noooooooo 😭😭😭 Lupa I love you!!!!!!!
She is the cutest. Love the floppy ears. She was more concerned with what you are doing than licking the peanut butter.
Oh no she hated the dryer! 😭 Hope she continues to get better with it
Beautiful puppy Vanessa. Good luck with her.
My bath adversive GSD woke up from a dead sleep at the sound of Lupa's cries. I think it was a bit of solidarity--that water is slow poison, LOL!
