Stop asking cops questions like they are there to help you. Ask a lawyer instead. They can actually help you. For the love of god learn your rights you got a misdemeanor ticket for the steering wheel because you were answering blatant fishing questions. Don’t incriminate yourself. Don’t say anything just give em your info let them write you for whatever they pulled you over for and fight it in court. Your job isn’t to “make it easy” for them.

It's not illegal to have QD steering wheel. It's illegal if the modification removes the factory airbag(if the car came with one).

We should blame the “street takeover” who gives the car scene a bad image. Cops are everywhere giving out tickets for anything small stupid reasons.

I’ve had experience with getting pulled over for a steering wheel before. I just told them I bought it like that and they left me alone. They asked me similar questions as you tho. Now that you got a misdemeanor, you should really just put it back to stock asap.

Welcome to CA.Pretty much 1of 4 worst U.S. states that pulls over modified cars.I’ve been pulled over at least 4X when I use to drive my modified ‘95 Acura integra. No front plate is usually one reason to pull u over to check out your car.Don’t believe that cop about a misdemeanor over an after market steering wheel,he’s totally lying.He’s just trying to scare u.I’d say take off your exhaust,pay the ticket,& then put it back on.Leave your front plate on, for sure he won’t bother u again.Take care,bro!!👍

In California attaching a non-airbag steering wheel is allowed if the car did not come with airbags from factory. That applies to exhausts as well (as long as the sound doesn’t exceed 95 dB). Which means, GET A CLASSIC CAR, BRUH! 1975 and under. No smog emissions either…ever…

I’m glad I live in Arkansas. Cause ain’t no way a mf cop about to tell me what I can and can’t have . Tf.

Got state reff both exhaust and emissions. Went with off the record for lawyer paid $200. I put the car back to stock and got my case dismissed. I’m also from SJ

What if you tell a cop you can't open the hood, what will the penalty be? I did that & the mf told me he’ll just pop it open at the impound I told him the latch was broken & he told me if I figure out that hood situation he’ll decide if he’ll impound it or not so I pop it open he instantly took a picture of my engine bay & said that’s all I need & got state ref for modified emissions “ & got to drive the car home 🤦‍♂️😤

If you leave it like that, they will see it on your record and then you might get arrested “for disobeying law enforcement” “non-correct able” means they just won’t sign off on it, you still have to correct it or not at your own risk, so yeah if you get the ticket all dismissed, you can still rock the wheel until another cop gets you

Not in Cali. I believe the only "fix it ticket" you can get here are tinted windows and no plates on the front bumper. Exhaust is automatic state ref. Even if your exhaust is as quiet as an oem exhaust, theyll still give you a state ref ticket as long as it looks like an aftermarket exhaust.

Where in Cali is this happening? Not in the Bay Area, that I know. There must be no violent, or property crime in the area right? I have a W124 Mercedes that looks like a Hammer. I’m considering swapping an aluminum Ls3. My understanding is that the swap just needs to pass the emissions standards for the year of the engine. I know that I have to take the car to a ref, etc. So tell me where this is happening and I will never go there.

What a P.O.S. Officer dudes literally driving his car that he built to his liking. 90% of the vehicles are modified and not hurting anything.
