I hate to tell you this, but there is no workaround, even if you know a ref cuz they have you call into a call center and they assign a ref to you by appointment. I hope your car isn't tuned either, cuz those fools hook up into your OBDII port and check everything. I had to help my buddy with a 2011 Coyote that has a supercharger in it. Luckily the kit was carb legal. Good luck.

@@numberone7674 Why not just buy a car that is fast enough so that you don't have to go through all this BS? There is legislation in the CA Assembly that if passed will make it a felony to get reffed on the same car for the same issue. It's not worth it...

There is no workaround, you have to take it to them, they write you up on corrections, and then you have to fix what they want you to fix. If you tuned the car you need to have the dealer reflash your ECM/PCM to stock. You can't negotiate with them, argue with them, nothing! If you are gonna tune your car, keep the original computer and replace it with a spare with the tune.

@@freddaniali Really all you need to do is have a valved exhaust out in Cali and youll be fine. If the car is quiet on public roads, you will never have a problem. People get reffed cuz they are idiots running around with loud exhausts in populated areas or areas where the police are really strict. It was hilarious because I drove past a cop out there, and when I saw him coming up on me and flipped the switch to silent and he was so confused lol.. The valve is near my cat as well and hidden so unless he jacked up my car and knew exactly what he was looking for, he would never know there is a valve system that opens and closes lol.. I told him he must of had the wrong car or misheard lol.. Cop thought he was going crazy lol.. Let me go quick lol.. I really wish I had a gopro for stuff like that!

Cali is an Authoritarian state. Its turning Communist. And in reality, many of the Politicians in power out there have Marxist ideals and leanings which is incredibly scary. Humans just never seem to be able to learn from the past and just keep making the same mistakes over and over again. I was out in Cali for business about 6 months ago and the state is a disgrace. The homelessness, the junkies, the crime, the insanely inflated economy and prices of everything, the taxes.. Its just a mess. God bless the people living there. They need to get out ASAP.

They’ll say anything just to give you a ticket and waste time I under stand the exhaust shit but the tires straight bs I got pulled over for supposedly not stopping fully at red light to make right I seen the cop driving down the road bout to pass the intersection so I just waited for him to pass but he switch into the left turning lane at the last second so I did my turn and he immediately switched back and pulled me over I even told him exactly what I’m saying right now and he just sat there and was like ok my partner seen you tho so I was like whatever they never asked for registration or insurance just my id I offered them both and they never took them back to their car to check shit only checked my id then told me to step out so they can write the ticket which was weird af they instantly patted me down before I could fully step out then had me waiting for like 15 min not saying shit I’m asking them why they taking so long I got places to be and shit they just acting nonchalant then a K-9 unit pulls up and walk the dog around my car and it alerts my trunk apparently they put me in cuffs and put me in the back of a police car search every in off my car under the hood under the car in my gas tank everywhere smh didn’t find a damn thing proceeds to uncuff me and still give me the bs ticket for not stopping it’s been 3 weeks I haven’t got shit in the mail I even went to the court house and they didn’t have shit in their system for it I can’t read my court date or time on my ticket it looks like they didn’t write anything there it’s just blank so now the courts said to just call in a week straight bs if I get a warrant off this shit oh yeah my record is clean never been arrested or in cuffs till that day and guess what else I’m black ik this a lot and y’all prob don’t care lol but just had to get that out real fast got me fucked up lmao will do anything to fuck your day up just because

People are so ignorant. Hey bro, “I bought the vehicle like that” is not a free pass as the stupids think it is. I once bought a car with no mufflers, but that did not mean it was legal. Loud exhaust will and should draw the attention of law enforcement. P.S. My co workers son’s very loud Camaro was found to have construction foam filling the exhaust pipes when it would not start. In a few days, he got it running again, but with new quieter mufflers.
