    Independent Adjusters make anywhere from $40k - $250k per year. It really depends on how good you are, and do you either A: Run cat storms year round (usually 6-7 months throughout the year). or B: Building your daily claims business in your local area (this takes longer to build up to higher income). I personally know multiple IA's that make $200-300k per year and never leave home.

    Love all of your content, very informative! Crazy question? I rather start as an Independent Adjuster due to being a single parent, security, to gain experience etc. but is it possible to work as an IA while I build my PA business/ network? Is it possible to do both under my license or do IA companies hold your license “captive” to keep you from working on your own?

  • @CommercialClaimsShow

    @CommercialClaimsShow

    2 жыл бұрын

    In most states, you cannot hd both an IA license and a PA license at the same time. also, it will be tough to grow your PA business while working as an IA. The roles are very different, plus you will be too busy working claims as an IA. If you really want to become a PA, I would recommend you saving money for roughly 6 months of bills and enough money to live, them take the leap of faith. If this is truly elegant you want, eventually you have to take the risk. But make it calculated by saving up first.

    Hey Vince, you are right. I spoke to a few IAs and they claim six figures which is great. The PA life is best yet the hardest to be one you need to get 620 license, fingerprinted, FBI background check, 50k bond( based on credit) which cost 200-2k yrly, the sponsorship is near impossible. Once sponsored do it for a six month apprenticeship to to just be qualified to take a 2hr state exam, first and second try’s with state exam have huge fail rates. I almost forgot to mention you get 5 opportunities to pass exam if you fail them all you have to wait the following year to retake them again. You need to have a side job or money saved for at least six months until you get paid. This is raw truth,if you can do all this then go for it. I know PAs making 250-500yrly. You truly have to be a people person to succeed, and patient and be able to handle a little stress lol. Hope this helps to those interested. PA life RULES lol.

Subbed, and I agree 100% “become an adjuster!” I’m a former 10yr FL 2-20 General Lines commercial property insurance agent that got tired of drinking that Kool-Aid and took advantage of the test exemption for 2-20 agents. So sales, networking, and policy language I know front and back. Currently learning Xactimate and EagleView, but it’s the construction knowledge for those line items that’s new. Hey Mictch, great question! I think it's always great to have experience, especially when it comes down to the actual claims process and the estimating process. When you're an IA, your going to be dealing with a lot of the "Estimating" side, which is very important. You'll also become great at properly photographing a property. With that said, there's so much more that goies into that you will never learn on that side. The decision is up to you. Feel free to hit me up privately if/when you're really interested in becoming a public adjuster.

    I spent 33 years in a metropolitan fire dept. Almost every structure fire would draw public adjusters regardless of the day or hour. They would sit down the street in their high-end cars and suits while we finished up. They just looked like a bunch of rich vultures waiting for their turn at the carcass. Never a good look when homeowners were so vulnerable. Hope they actually did well by the fire victims.

    Hey, I really like your videos and I've spent a ton of time on KZread looking into different types of adjusting. I've been a legal assistant/paralegal for most of my career, but I'm looking for a change. I've spent much of the last four years working for insurance defense attorneys and I would really like to work the other side as an advocate. Is this something that can be worked part time in the beginning so I can keep working my salaried job and ramp up my workload up to full time over the course of (for example) a year? I'm in Tampa -- do you ever meet with people one on one?

I know how to read a policy front to back, I know about PIP coverages, how policies work, how they’re rated. I’m licensed in 48 states. • @CommercialClaimsShow

    Жыл бұрын

    No, licenses for insurance adjusters and public adjusters are not the same. Insurance adjusters are licensed by the state in which they work, and their license is specific to the type of insurance they are adjusting, such as auto insurance, property insurance, or health insurance. On the other hand, a public adjuster is a licensed professional who works on behalf of the policyholder to help them with their insurance claim. Public adjusters are also licensed by the state, but their license allows them to work on behalf of the policyholder, not the insurance company.

There may be a few states like Alabama where it's not recognized, but even in Alabama an attorney must get involved when a claim is wrongfully denied or underpaid. @@CommercialClaimsShow makeup damages is not the best term. Let’s say try and put in damages not related. And then fight with the insurance company about what’s owed??? When for example not going to give names… been to this mobile home. Insurance company paid for the moon. Insured clearly stated that the leak in the bathroom was long term 3/3 times we went there now he has a pa involved and they are still asking for the bathroom and now the hallway. Finally I understand pa’s are there for the insured so are ia’s. Staff adjusters are there for the insurance company. Now for these people out here how much do you get for let’s say a 50k settlement????? I’ll tell them what my pays scale is around $450 for a claim that size. 60/40 independent contractors. Now for you finding the same damages let’s go with the high end of 10%….mind you this money comes from the insured not usually the insurance company…..$5k taken away from the $50k it was settled at. Now not only is the insured out their deductible of let’s say 2% or $2k plus now they have to pay the pa that $5k. Making this simple math. 50,000-2,000-5,000=43,000 So you get 5k from the insured and I get $450 after my cut. Mine actually comes from the insurance company yours comes from the insured. For the people out there that hire pa’s now you have to come up with more money to fix your house…deductible plus a percentage of the final settlement to the pa.
