Yes, Avicii was a swedish DJ and producer, unfortunately he committed suicide a few years ago. Mike Posner actually was a close friend of Avicii while he was alive, that is why he is mentioning him in the song.

@ASouthernYank idk I watched some promo documentary that was supposed to come out around 2018 or 19 about human trafficking that was funded by mainly through musicians such as Avicci, Chris Cornell, Chester Bennington, who all died within a span of like 2 years
Avicii and Mike Posner were friends. Mike Posner was in Ibiza with him at a show and went into the audience. Someone offered him a pill and he said screw it and took it. The tragedy of Avicii is that he killed himself at a VERY young age at the height of his fame because the pressure of being on stage drove him to addiction, and health problems, and he never recovered.
I remember listening to this song in high school on the bus on my way home with heavy suicidal thoughts... oh man, how things have changed. It's all gonna be okay in the end :)

Your life is not yours to take, you only get to die, in the service of The Emperor.
Wow. I literally just got re-obsessed with this song after I found his episode on Logan Paul’s Impaulsive podcast.
Ah, this song brings back so many wonderful, and horrible memories. What a terrifying point in life I was in when it came out, the world was changing and so was my life. I was partying and drinking and smoking and laughing and crying and lonely and *suffering* It was scary and new and painful and I would give anything to go back to it and have a fresh starts, a real chance to change my life for the better before I got too old to be so high, miserable, and too old to have accomplished nothing.
great reaction. "a break is my excuse but the truth is i cant open up" is my fav line
2:20 yes thats avicii , avicii passed away in 2018 sadly
He sang Cooler Than Me, that’s probably where his name rang a bell

@@ReactionTherapyOfficial that's the song he's referencing when he says "my name's a reminder of a pop song people forgot"
This song brings back memories as it was one of the first English song I listened
I'm not sure if you've already reacted to them but two more very powerful songs by Mike would be Live Before I Die and Home. Strongly recommend both and both be the official videos. The messages are really touching.

I second this! I actually came to the comments to recommend those two exact songs. 😂

rest easy Avicci 🕊
Move on by him is amazing and the video is inspiring. He was in a bad spot mentally after losing his dad to cancer, and made the song and video in his honor and to change his life around. You definitely need to listen and watch that one.

Then do live before I die. Makes that song so much more
Mike grew up about 15 minutes from me here in Michigan, he had a huge rise to fame thanks to his rap songs like "cooler than me" I couldn't believe this guy ran across the US without using motels to sleep.
There is a live version of this where he talks before performing the song and he mentions Avicii in that also.
Another great reaction video and great mental health notes by !!! Not typically the kind of music I normally listen to but definitely a really great song that put a smile on my face. What an amazing message in this song.
Love the Subterranean Homesick Blues reference

Same!
It was after this song came out but Avici lost his life to suicide unfortunately
Damn this song is major nostalgia
Flipping the cards over is an homage to Bob Dylan’s “video” for Subterranean Homesick Blues, 1965. I’m guessing Mike knows this since he did it in black and white, just like Dylan back in the day.
This video is done in the same format, with the lyrics & cards written down, as Bob Dylan’s Subterranean Homesick Blues.
Yes the acoustic version!!
Highly suggest Mike posner’s “live before I die” super inspirational ✌️
Oh wow I’ve never heard the original version of this I always thought the remix was the original
You should react to the remix, you will love it!!
The background is Lafayette in Detroit I believe
Hey :) it’s AJ from Hobby Lobby So excited to have found you guys :)
What a classic
There's a remix version of this song that has an incredible 1.5 BILLION more views than this original version. You would absolutely love it!
Love him 😊
There is too version of this by him hope you get to do the other one
I love this song, the music video is crazy tho
This is the original version.. Way better than the remix The meaning is clearer in this version RiP Avicii
I believe the way he has filmed this video is in reference to Bob Dylan's - Subterranean Homesick Blues video. Very clever
Active Addiction Carry’s alot of depression, and loneliness. Even in sobriety it can feel confusing and lonely and depressing, lots of wondering if it’s the right choice sometimes.
Ibiza is an island in the Mediterranean sea near Spain
Mike isn’t from Detroit proper. He is from a bordering city named Southfield, which is coincidentally where I was born
2:20: ….when I’m wise and older.
I think King Iso music would be a great add to your page
Sad songs...sad songs...sad songs....
rip chris neff
Please react to "King Iso - in my head"
I think he’s talking about how everyone wants to big and be a millionaire but it’s not all it’s cracked up to be, and maybe you shouldn’t want to be big like him, and to be grateful for what you have 🤷🏽♂️
Deffo not Right song i was expecting 😂😂😂😂😂
W reaction ❤
react to the hit-remix of this! I took a pill in ibiza - Seeb Remix
Fire

I love how you cheer for his being unable to open up to people
You should react to Jake Miller. Either A Million Lives or Steven. Or both.

If therapy didn't cost 200AUD$ per session i would have kept going for more than 2 visits , sorry , find a family member or close friend first to talk to , if you cant then go to a free clinic and talk to the docs .
The edm remix be better And avicii did make wake me up and he does because of abusing drugs And alcohol at the same time
Noah Cyrus AGAIN XXX
One of those songs where the remix is better
That’s not the video or the song lol

it’s the original song and video. the version you know is probably the remix which was the version on the radio that got all the attention
Still sad posner is really 2 faced >.< or he is just sad and angry
It's an amazing song I remember the day it came out
