Had to come back here from PsychOdyssey to see how Zak's departure was addressed in the update.

Psychonauts 2 will be game of the year

So he went from observing to living among them. He's like the Jane Goodall of video game development.

Tim is project lead (as well as lead writer), Zak was the Lead Designer.

Congrats on joining the team Asif! Don't worry about crunching for the final brain. Quality over quantity, and everyone would much rather get a good game than a rushed one. Take your time!

I just wish Zach the best. Life happens, people go other places for various reasons. Pursue what you want.

The thing about Psychonauts is its originality and creativity. Having a fresh set of eyes and input from a novel perspective should be amazing for the game.

Anyone else come back to watch this one now that previews have confirmed that they did in fact get Gods Must Be Hungry into P2?

YESSS!!!! The gods must be hungry!! Really wanted that to become a full fledged game and to have it be a level in psychonauts is PERFECT! I hope there’s more than just the cooking arena, cause it feels like you could do so much with that idea!! Maybe it’s not even as simple as the cooking area like it was last time! It could be totally different! I don’t know! But I’m HYPE!!

This makes me feel so awesome. Asif. Seriously. Holy shit. What a god damned journey. You're literally an inspiration. "All these guys will go back to making video games and I never will" legitimately made me feel crushed the first time I watched this a year ago. The Gods Must Be Hungry was far and beyond the coolest AF game of the year. It's so, so, so awesome to see you find a more permanent role at Double Fine. Way to go!

As a game design student this gives me a lot of hope! In myself, in the industry in the job. Thx Asif!

This is so cool!! The Gods Must Be Hungry was my favorite AF prototype, I really REALLY loved it, and I was bummed when it didn't go any further, but this is way cooler!

It's cool to hear how Asir got worked into the team. How awesome to get someone who has been through so much with the team to join the team!

I know this game means a lot to you guys, but Psychonauts REALLY means a lot to me and I just wanna say I can't wait (but I will wait), and please just release what we all know you are capable of.

Best wishes to Asif on the new level! I'm glad to hear he's being given a chance to help with the game thanks to Amnesia Fortnite! I'm sad to hear Zac McClendon left, however. It's pretty subtle but I love the fact that everyone makes the effort to pronounce his name correctly as "aasif" instead of the usual "aseef". Doublefine seems like a nice place to work at.

I think George Lucas has done much more for creative industries than most people understand. I have deep respect and admiration for both of these visionary, inspiring creators.

Man, I love DoubleFine so much. Picking up good ideas from any source they think has potential. Congratulations on the acquisition by Microsoft!

I've noticed you upload another update roughly every 4 months give or take a few weeks/days. So I'm going to predict another for October or when you come out of Alpha stage and Into Beta. Then again there is always the chance of coincidence I guess, just keep doing what you're doing.

Please invest in marketing. Nobody heard or saw deathspank either, there isn't enough exposure and it can be a huge success. You're on track to a similar launch as the original psychonauts at the moment, there is no momentum here
