The Matrix Infinity modchip will accomplish the following
- Full region Free Ps1 + backup support
- Full region free Ps2 + backup support
Installing a modbo or other matrix infinity clones can be done as well. for a Modbo you'll also need the CX point for the clock signal.
You can still get legit matrix infinitys here but they're not cheap.

My comment got deleted probably from links. My up-to-date diagram can be found on GBAtemp in the oldies consoles section.
HD7's were a mess to tweak back in the day. I remember swapping a bunch with 400C's. Youre doing gods work figuring these things out. I need to get my hands on one eventually.

Of course brotha! Your work is fantastic. Tracing those cd/dvd points to those vias was MAAASSSIVE for these. Thanks to your diagram people can modchip these early desrs without unplugging a single one of those sketchy ribbon cables.

oh boy... Great work!
I used to have one of these console. First disc failed boot, and it won't even boot at all. It is a good system but flawed and difficult to repair. You did a good work there.
Pretty sure I saw Voultar do this mod, looks like lots of fun 😅

PSX whoa
Such a nice install i really want install my spare Matrix Infinity into my PSX 7000 model aswell but i get a Green and Red Light. Fuses and the Ribbons are all fine but it did originally come with a damaged ribbon and a blown fuse which i have fixed only to discover this. I wonder if there are more fuses on the top side of the motherboard or on the button pcbs themselves.

I had similar behavior when working on a 7700 when I forgot to plug a ribbon or two back in. Even the little pcb on The top shell needs to be plugged in. Make sure nothing is disconnected. If nothing is check the ribbons as those blue tabs come off easy
