you just helped me to resurrect two dead move controllers i bought cheap.... i couldnt find the exact batteries (Mah rating) that you used but managed to get some 2000Mah ones and now their charging up and hopefully will be usable on my PS4 saving me over 50% of the costs of new genuine sony batteries with a lower rating... many thanks

PS4 move use LIS1651 battery. Inside is a 18650 Li-ion battery. So no need to upgrade it except you want to change is to Panasonic 3400mAh battery.

Have just added a response on another comment but yes they are 18500 at 2100mAh capacity..

The most difficult part is the stupid screws. They are easily stripped and very, very tough to remove. You need to go over any techniques or specific brands of screw driver for those.

Did you check real capacity of replacement batteries? Found reviews on Aliexpress for same color battery. Real capacity is 1000Mah

Yup I charged with a Hi End Lipo / Lion/LiFE battery charger.. and get around 1800mAH capacity indicated. Nodoubt if I fully drained the battery till dead It would give more. I didn't purchase mine from AliExpress

@@chazj1976, lucky you, as on Aliexpress pictures of buyers showing around 1000mAh only. Before you replaced, what issues did you have? My controllers were not charging at all. Took apart, charged batteries directly by charger then fitted back. Now discharged after playing, looks need take apart again

@@Home_made_ch Yup same issues original battery wouldn't charge. Took out and charge with proper multi battery type echarge set to li-ion. But they barely hold much charge and would discharge fast whil playing and then not charge again

The original battery is 3.7v ... but the replacement battery is 3.6v !!! Did you have issues with that ????????? And i have another question: The new battery should must have protection or not ???? for example it's ok to replace with a TrustFire 18500 1800mah TF ???

No issues with the voltage difference. If you replace battery as shown the charging / over discharge protection circuitry is still present. 👌

do you need the circuit board from the old battery for this to work?

Hmm would be intetesting to try. The ps move controller is a lithium ion battery 32700 is Lifepo with different battery chemistry. The charged voltage is 3.6 for lion. 3.7 for yours so it may work. Only one way to find out 💪

The batteries are 18500 Lithium-Ion... Using a Lithium Polymer (li-Po) may work as its only a single cell needed and no clever balancing circuitry, plus Li and LiPo battery operating ranges are similar. If you try it let me know!

Hi yes they are 18500 batteries with a 2100mAh capacity. Anything of Alibaba / Bangood etc around this should be fine. Dont go for the ridiculous capacity ones that say 3000mAh or 5000mAh as they just arent!

Can I insert a double A battery into the controller instead?

If you can find one that is 3.7v maybe. I have tried a normal AA but the controller did not boot up. Perhaps I did something wrong but this AA Li-Ion 3.7v battery seems to work and charge just fine.

@@ArgamDeBlack normal AA is 1.2v or 1.5v, of course it would not boot up, not enough voltage. Unless you use the AA size which labelled as 14500 3.7v then it will boot up. But the battery is smaller diameter, you need to thicken to stop it moving when playing. In this video, he use 18500 size. As referrence 14500=14mm x 50mm, 18500=18mm x 50mm.

AND THEY ARE BETTER!
