As someone who was a pilot during WW2, I can confirm that we crashed into each other all the time, and our planes just bounced off. We used to attach little rubber bumpers, so it was a lot like bumper cars.

No this is a lie or a joke.. planes during in air crashes don't just bounce off.. if done right you could piggyback them.. it happened to a b17.. I think lost a wing to aa fire and it rolled over on to the top of another b17 probably killed both top gunners.. I mean I could see a accidental wing tap but a full on crash.. yeah that ain't possible.. most likely both wouldn't be able to fight and had to bail out.. or both would die on impact depending on how fast the other plane was going..

Yeah, they built pilots tough back then. A lot of the time they just leaned out and pushed the other aeroplane away with their bare hands. I read it on KZread so it must be true.

I'm an actual Kamikaze pilot from the Pacific Campaigns of WW2. Since I was actually there, I can attest to the fact that this game looks exactly how it was during missions. If fact, it's so realistic that my PTSD has flared up a little watching this. But, the music, the planes hitting each other without effect, multiple AA rounds zipping thru the fuselages of SBD's, without knocking them out of the sky....ALL TRUE. I personally, (thought) I shot down 12 SBD's over the corse of my time in the IJN, but come to find out, the bullets in my Ki-43 were made of Bamboo Shoots. I also made 3 attempts of crashing into 2 carriers and 1 destroyer, I bounced off the ships. I'm also 126 years old. COD has really captured the moment with this Battle of Midway game play.

Also, Battlefield 1 is not a war sim, but every time you died in the first mission, you'd swap character with some random bot. I don't see the problem. I remember when historical accuracy was something that mattered. The Japanese never intercepted a bombing raid on their warships, because there were multiple small attack groups. Plus on the last group they were too busy reloading their planes between bombs and torpedos. That and the first 3 attacks failed. The attack group that succeeded was lost and accidentally came from behind while they were switching and scored the fatal blows. About the only realistic thing was that the bomb hit the citadel of the carrier.

All these fancy reflections and hi-res textures, but you can clearly see that *the carrier is not moving at all* . For those who are unaware, carrier launches aircraft running full speed (~30 knots/35 mph/55 kmh) against the wind. That creates additional lift required to take off. In short most of the squadrons hit the Japanese fleet at different times and most of the Torpedo squadrons were wiped out but by the time VB6 / VB10 from the USS Enterprise were coming down over the Akagi and Kaga with their SBDs...the Japanese defenses were pretty depleted from the prior attacks and Combat Air Patrol were flying way too low and away from the fleet so they dove down only facing mostly enemy Flak and around the same time VB3 from the USS Yorktown struck the Soryu giving the US 3 enemy carrier kills within 10 minutes.

He must be flying the most powerful plane of the entire war. Aye. Saw an interesting article the other day. It's worth sharing (for educational purposes only). There is a reason that most countries polled in December 2013 by Gallup called the United States the greatest threat to peace in the world, and why Pew found that viewpoint increased in 2017. But it is a reason that eludes that strain of U.S. academia that first defines war as something that nations and groups other than the United States do, and then concludes that war has nearly vanished from the earth. Since World War II, during a supposed golden age of peace, the United States military has killed or helped kill some 20 million people, overthrown at least 36 governments, interfered in at least 85 foreign elections, attempted to assassinate over 50 foreign leaders, and dropped bombs on people in over 30 countries. The United States is responsible for the deaths of 5 million people in Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia, and over 1 million just since 2003 in Iraq. Since 2001, the United States has been systematically destroying a region of the globe, bombing Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan, Libya, Somalia, Yemen, and Syria, not to mention the Philippines. The United States has “special forces” operating in two-thirds of the world’s countries and non-special forces in three-quarters of them. The U.S. government provides weapons, military training, and/or military funding to almost every dictatorship and oppressive government on earth. See my 2020 book 20 Dictators Currently Supported by the U.S. U.S. weapons are used on both sides of many wars. In an attempt to quantify U.S. warmaking, I’ve copied below lists from these sources: David Vine: The United States of War William Blum: America’s Deadliest Export: Democracy Dr. Zoltan Grossman: A Century of U.S. Military Interventions James Lucas: U.S. Has Killed More Than 20 Million People From David Vine’s The United States at War: A list of wars and of military combat that for some reason isn’t called a war that does not attempt to include every war and combat against Native Americans: 1774-1883 Shawnee, Delaware 1776 Cherokee 1777-1781 Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) 1780-1794 Chickamauga 1790-1795 Miami Confederacy 1792-1793 Muskogee (Creek) 1798-1801 France 1801-1805 Tripoli 1806 Mexico 1806-1810 Spanish, French privateers 1810 Spanish West Florida 1810-1813 Shawnee Confederacy 1812 Spanish Florida 1812-1815 Canada (Great Britain) 1812-1815 Dakota Sioux 1812-1815 Iroquois Confederacy (Haudenosaunee) 1813 Spanish West Florida 1813-1814 Marquesas Islands 1813-1814 Muskogee (Creek) Confederacy 1814 Spanish Florida 1814-1825 Pirates 1815 Algiers 1815 Tripoli 1816 Spanish Florida 1817 Spanish Florida 1817-1819 Seminole 1818 Oregon (Russia, Spain) 1820-1861 African Slave Trade Patrol 1822-1825 Cuba (Spain 1824 Puerto Rico (Spain) 1827 Greece 1831-1832 Falkland Islands 1832 Sauk 1832 Sumatra 1833 Argentina 1835-1836 Peru 1835-1842 Seminole 1836 Mexico 1836-1837 Muskogee (Creek) 1838-1839 Sumatra 1840 Fiji Islands 1841 Samoa 1841 Tabiteuea 1842 Mexico 1843 China 1844 Mexico 1846-1848 Mexico 1847-1850 Cayuse 1849 Turkey 1850-1886 Apache 1851 Johanna Island 1851 Turkey 1852-1853 Argentina 1853-1854 Japan 1853-1854 Nicaragua 1853-1854 Ryukyu, Ogasawara islands 1854-1856 China 1855 Fiji Islands 1855 Uruguay 1855-1856 Rogue River Indigenous Peoples 1855-1856 Yakima, Walla Walla, Cayuse 1855-1858 Seminole 1856 Panama (Colombia) 1856-1857 Cheyenne 1857 Nicaragua 1858 Coeur d’Alene Alliance 1858 Fiji Islands 1858 Uruguay 1858-1859 Turkey 1859 China 1859 Mexico 1859 Paraguay 1860 Angola 1860 Colombia 1862 Sioux 1863-1864 Japan 1864 Cheyenne 1865 Panama (Colombia) 1866 China 1866 Mexico 1866-1868 Lakota Siouw, Northern Cheyenne, Northern Arapaho 1867 Formosa (Taiwan) 1867 Nicaragua 1867-1875 Comanche 1868 Colombia 1868 Japan 1868 Uruguay 1870 Hawaii 1871 Korea 1872-1873 Modoc 1873 Colombia (Panama) 1873-1896 Mexico 1874 Hawaii 1874-1875 Comanche, Apache, Arapaho, Cheyenne, Kiowa 1876-1877 Sioux 1877 Nez Perce 1878 Bannock (Banna’kwut) 1878-1879 Cheyenne 1879-1880 Utes 1882 Egypt 1885 Panama (Colombia) 1888 Haiti 1888 Korea 1888-1889 Samoa 1889 Hawaii 1890 Argentina 1890 Lakota Sioux 1891 Bering Straight 1891 Chile 1891 Haiti 1893 Hawaii 1894 Brazil 1894 Nicaragua 1894-1895 China 1894-1896 Korea 1895 Panama (Colombia) 1896 Nicaragua 1898 Cuba (Spain) 1898 Nicaragua 1898 Philippines (Spain) 1898 Puerto Rico (Spain) 1898-1899 China 1899 Nicaragua 1899 Samoa 1899-1913 Philippines 1900 China 1901-1902 Colombia 1903 Dominican Republic 1903 Honduras 1903 Syria 1903-1904 Abyssinia (Ethiopia) 1903-1914 Panama 1904 Dominican Republic 1904 Tangier 1904-1905 Korea 1906-1909 Cuba 1907 Honduras 1909-1910 Nicaragua 1911-1912 Honduras 1911-1914 China 1912 Cuba 1912 Turkey 1912-1933 Nicaragua 1914 Dominican Republic 1914 Haiti 1914-1919 Mexico 1915-1934 Haiti 1916-1924 Dominican Republic 1917-1918 World War I (Europe) 1917-1922 Cuba 1918-1920 Russia 1918-1921 Panama 1919 Dalmatia 1919 Turkey 1919-1920 Honduras 1925 Panama 1932 El Salvador 1941-1945 World War II (Europe, North Africa, Asia/Pacific) 1946 Trieste 1947-1949 Greece 1948-1949 Berlin, Germany 1950 Formosa (Taiwan) 1950-1953 Korea 1953-1954 Formosa (Taiwan) 1955-1975 Vietnam 1956 Egypt 1958 Lebanon 1962 Cuba 1962 Thailand 1962-1975 Laos 1964 Congo (Zaire) 1965 Dominican Republic 1965-1973 Cambodia 1967 Congo (Zaire) 1976 Korea 1978 Congo (Zaire) 1980 Iran 1981 El Salvador 1981 Libya 1981-1989 Nicaragua 1982-1983 Egypt 1982-1983 Lebanon 1983 Chad 1983 Grenada 1986 Bolivia 1986 Libya 1987-1988 Iran 1988 Panama 1989 Bolivia 1989 Colombia 1989 Libya 1989 Peru 1989 Philippines 1989-1990 Panama 1990 Saudi Arabia 1991 Congo (Zaire) 1991-1992 Kuwait 1991-1993 Iraq 1992-1994 Somalia 1993-1994 Macedonia 1993-1996 Haiti 1993-2005 Bosnia 1995 Serbia 1996 Liberia 1996 Rwanda 1997-2003 Iraq 1998 Afghanistan 1998 Sudan 1999-2000 Kosovo 1999-2000 Montenegro 1999-2000 Serbia 2000 Yemen 2000-2002 East Timor 2000-2016 Colombia 2001 - Afghanistan 2001- Pakistan 2001- Somalia 2002-2015 Philippines 2002- Yemen 2003-2011 Iraq 2004 Haiti c2004- Kenya 2011 Democratic Republic of the Congo 2011-2017 Uganda 2011- Libya c2012- Central African Republic c2012- Mali c2013-2016 South Sudan c2013- Burkina Faso c2013- Chad c2013- Mauritania c2013- Niger c2013- Nigeria 2014 Democratic Republic of the Congo 2014- Iraq 2014- Syria 2015 Democratic Republic of the Congo c2015- Cameroon 2016 Democratic Republic of the Congo 2017- Saudi Arabia c2017 Tunisia 2019- Philippines The list is super long. Well now the west coast states are liberal communists so not sure that's any better. Yes Japan did attack the US at Peal Harbor first but there's a lot of very suspicions things that have been declassified that lead a critical thinker to believe some within the US government and military intelligence knew Japan was planning a attack on Pearl Harbor and allowed it to happen to gin up support for entering the war. They intercepted radio communications from the Japanese attack fleet several days prior and they moved all the carriers out of Pearl Harbor days before the attack so they wouldn't be destroyed.

Things like Station H in Oahu which picked up Isoroku Yamamotos only transmission to Japan on December 6th that he was carrying out the attack at pearl Harbour. America had already broken both codes purple and orange used by the Japanese. America maneuvered her self into a position to get attacked because the general public didn't want to go to war, especially after the results of both Dunkirk and World War 1 Americans were not inclined to go to war. Japan was taught to do everything it did up until 1945 by the United States. So it's really the states fault for any atrocities. They taught the Japanese how to kill their own indisgienous population. Showed how to fight guerilla forces (killing civilians) and showed how to force isolationist countries to open to force. I have a few model ships of the IJN, at the start of the war, this is accurate but as the war dragged on, they refitted their ships with heavier AA. Even the famous Yamato had two of its 155mm triple turrets removed in favor of an impressive array of AA guns. The destroyers they launched during the war were already fitted with type 98, 10cm dual purpose guns which were very handy anti-aircraft guns. The main drawback of the IJN compared to the USN was that they used timed fuzes on their AA shells, the USN used proximity fuzes which were very effective in all ranges unlike the timed ones.

Yes, the Japanese carriers didn't have nearly enough anti-aircraft guns. In general, Japan didn't focus on defense *at all,* their idea of a fight was a lightning-fast decapitation with a Samurai sword and end of story. This unfortunate doctrine was their downfall in WW II, because they had no plan for what to do if they started losing.

There's so many stories to tell, instead we get more shooters... with single soldiers taking out the entirety of the Axis....

"SBDs with open canopies" is kind of a trope though. There are lots of historic photos showing that crews flew like that. Considering the plane (historicaly) is a naval dive-bomber there are certain upsides to it as well. The biggest one is that it greatly increases visibility for the pilot (an actual complaint of US-pilots in early'ish WWII were the birdcage-style canopies that obstructed pilots vision). A benefit of that during a combat-sortie is that it helps with targetaquisition, since the SBD doesn't have a floorwindow to show the pilot whats beneth him, he has to check the target first before an attack and can't initiate a dive every 5 minutes to check if he would have a good angle to drop since he carries up to 1500 Ibs of bombs. Better to just look out of the cockpit and over the wing. There are also no real downside to having the canopy open since the gunner/radiooperator station and the pilot station are not seperated from each other. If you have a gun in the back it's going to be cold either way. The only time where it is useful to fly with a closed canopy would be during heavy weather for obvious reasons.

@@peerschulz2029 That's interesting. I would have thought you'd get more areodynamic drag with the canopy open and make the plane slower than it needed to be.

@@daNeterAUsaru999 ... That's the PS5 version anyway, like who even has the PS5 ? Only like 13 people in America even owns one... The PS5 experience is what's unrealistic, it's been a mess since the launch for different reasons... Sony has bigger fish to fry even before more games drop , how about get the chips made , and get more consoles distributed... They need just do a complete do-over with PS5, from the look and size of it , to storage capacity, backwards compatibility, etc... it just hasn't been a success... we watch these 4k videos on beautiful looking games but hardly anyone even has a console... @@funkdocdoppelganger7720 Well that would explain the reason why I haven’t seen a console available anywhere. I wasn’t aware that Sony was dealing with these issues but it doesn’t surprise me at all. I only purchased the PlayStation consoles in the past due to my following of the SOCOM video game series. This game was the sole reason for me buy PlayStation after my first online experience with it on PS II. I tried getting with the Battle Fields, Call of Duty and the Division series games. All great games but for me none of them can touch SOCOM and they ended that series I’m guessing due to development issues with the vendors. So the issues tat they are facing now doesn’t surprise me at all.
