    2:10 This error is more common than most people think. The error occurs when an area of the flash (also called a VTRM), is corrupt. Which usually means it's a flash chip that is defective. (Repairable by Sony, but it does cost a lot because Sony is going to replace the whole main board than just the VRTM itself.)

    Ok, let’s clear some things up. YLOD can be caused by a multitude of things, either a ball grid array fail, capacitor fail, overheating issues, or the power supply failed. The launch ps3 models (60gb and 20gb) were plagued with these issues and are very unreliable if you do not do any work with them to fix the issues. The number one cause for YLOD is overheating, general speaking for original ps3’s and especially true with launch ps3’s. They run at about 75 degrees Celsius which is very dangerous temps as 80 degrees Celsius is the breaking point for ps3’s and can yellow light in only 5 mins. Overheating is mostly caused by general bad build quality of these models from bad thermal paste (that’s gone dry at this point) to the fans not pushing hot air out or just not working at all to the dyes (the workhorse of the ps3’s) being humongous at about 90 nm for an older original PS3 to 60 nm for a newer original PS3. The power supply was also not that great for a launch ps3 being about only 50-60% efficient and draw a lot of heat which doesn’t help the ps3 overheating issues. I generally would avoid getting these unless you know how to fix them or your not afraid to do some work in order to get these things to run much more smoothly. Slim ps3’s also had YLOD but it’s much more rare because of much better build quality and would only happen for the older slims which have a 60 nm dye.

  • @BeinZilex

    @BeinZilex

    2 жыл бұрын

    The console wouldn’t die after 5 mins at 80 degrees, the reasons these consoles failed was because of thermal expansion of the solder bumps underneath the die when the console got hot then cold then hot then cold this would cause the solder to expand and contract and just like how if you bend a piece of metal to many times it snaps, this is why you have underfill the prevent that from happening but from 2006 to 2008 nvidea were using shitty under-fill in all there chips, it helps to put cfw on the console and keep it under 65 degrees or 68 at a push

    2:10 This commonly occurs on CECHL and CECHP models due to the console being shipped out with a faulty NOR chip on the motherboard that can die and fail. It mostly happens due to people altering the dev_flash folders with CFW, remember to always know what you are doing when altering system files.

  • @VeranumPIU
    @VeranumPIU5 жыл бұрын

    The red screen of death is also caused by corrupted files in the hard drive, meaning it can happen on the slims too. Though it's more fatal in the older fat models since the NAND can possibly corrupt. There's also another error message that comes up when you start the PS3 without a hard drive, something about necessary system files not being found. Also the YLOD is a general error and can be caused by many things, including overheating.

    @Local Meme Dealer No bro your Ps3 is not overheating, the light you're talking about is the HDD light (looks kinda orange and yellow) next to that light you have a green one that is the wifi connection light (if you have your wifi on it I'll be green, if it's off it's not gonna show any light) The light of overheating is a yellow one but on the top place (bottom on and off) it's where you have the green light and the blue one, if appears yellow light there you got Ylod ( it can be overheating or another stupid ps3 problem) I hope that I helped you 👍

    I haven't seen any comment talking about the PS3's RSOD. The RSOD is caused commonly in phat models with backwards compatibility, due to them using the technology of Samsung NORS. The RSOD happens when an error occurs while writing to the NORS, which is tipically easy to fix, but comes with some consequences (such as trophies system not functioning correctly) I hope that works as useful information.

    My big sister and I use to share a ps3 phat back in 2010. We both played it alot then as she got older and went to college it was passed down to me and I was around 8 years old playing my favorite game at the time Just Cause 2. Then moved to a new house around 2014 I was 11 or 10 just playing watch dogs 1 on it. Then it was moved to another family members house and lost in junk until I found it in summer 2019 and I was home alone daily excepted to do work but I played it Instead and had only one game left on it out of the hundreds before which was pure. A atv racing game. Now it's current gig is sitting under a table collecting dust. That startup sound is still so nostalgic, and I STILL PLAY JUST CAUSE 2..

    2:31 YLOD is more evident in 2000x model slims, since they share the same cause of the YLOD as the Fat models (if you didn't know it's caused by the capacitors wearing out in a 2 year lifespan in the console).

    1:57 It has got nothing to do with Bios or with missing files. The problem is with a flash memory where the system is located. (some of them, mostly CECH-L models). This Rsod happens when you try to downgrade a higher firmware - with e3flasher. The problem does not occur while during an update to higher firmware.

    there's two more error screens on Slim: 1. "An appropriate system storage have not been found" for when you're trying to boot with out a hard drive. I think it happens on Phat too but is worded differently. 2. "Connect the controller via the USB cable" I believe this one happens when the software crashes in some way. You can either reboot from this screen or reinstall the firmware from a USB stick.

    That RSoD happens on all models and it's most frequently met when you incorrectly install a custom firmware on your PS3. It happens when a crucial memory part is overwritten. Once it appeared - your console is pretty much trashed. There are some workarounds, but they are extremely unstable and certain things won't work

    I played a lot of LittleBigPlanet on my PS3 and sometimes my PS3 would freeze upon loading in a level and I would be forced to turn off the PS3 and turn it back on again. Fortunately despite this happening so many times, I have not lost any game data and my PS3 still works to this day, although barely used now, but hopefully there will come a day when I can have it plugged in with the rest of my playstations so that the family may be reunited.

    CECH-2001A was part of the First Rollout Slim Model units when this version of the PlayStation 03 came out in 2009, I got mine in November of that year and it was out of commission for almost Nine Years after a Disassembly to attempt fixing the thermals in August of 20I3 (Ghostbusters: Sanctum of Slime is one of the most Thermally Intensive titles on the First Rollout Slim units due to a lack of GPU optimizations in the Graveyard stages; this is what did it in for me); back in July of 2022, alongside switching out the original Thermal Pads on the Cell CPU and RSX Reality Synthesizer for Noctua's NT-H1 compound, I opted to put the Thermal Pads on the VRMs and Memory Modules, followed by running a Stress Test of Data Allocation to preserve north of Five Years of Legacy Footage that I had on the console (this process took north of 027 Hours), the console now works perfectly and I am under the impression that the VRMs lacking any resource to dissipate heat prior to this was what was causing the Yellow Light of Death for north of 0I07 Months (the Nidec Fan that cools the Cell and RSX didn't make a difference before doing this). Wishfully this will help out those of you who might be having thermal issues with your CECH-2001A and other similar SKUs from the Slim Model Era, the 2000 Series debuted with incredibly inadequate cooling for its time and thus it doesn't hurt to add some Pads and possibly also upgrade the Nidec Fan to a compatible Delta model (Delta and Nidec Fans have 0I7 Blades, but Delta's KFB1012HE and KSB1012HE run at 0I.30 Amps and are usually quieter with better air movement (measured in Cubic Feet per Minute, or "CF/m") while Nidec's G10C12MS2AH-56J14 uses 0I.67 Amps and might hum at lower Fan Speeds; NMB-MAT's fan has 023 Blades and runs at 0I.50 Amps, though there is a heightened chance for Coil Whine on older units); for Thermal Compound, I would definitely say go with the Noctua NT-H1 or the recently released Arctic MX-06 to get the temperature further down; a Power Supply Upgrade might also be considered if you need to use a few more Tens to Hundreds of Watts (this is more so an issue with the Launch Model, which is known to occasionally spike to north of 0400 Watts), even giving it a 0220 Watt PSU alongside its Main Power will help prevent it from getting kicked off when under High Power Usage for even less than a second and keep the console running stable in this era for many years to come. (:

    Just as a correction, the "no light error" (Green light, no light, shuts off.) can also occur on normal slim consoles, as sometimes it occurs on my CECH-3004B (Normal Slim, not Superslim) console, tho sometimes it can boot if its cooled down enough so i think its just a fan issue of some sort.

    Funny thing is the YLOD the descriptions you gave about it is really considered wrong. I had the launch PS3 and my parents sent it in once because parents being parents they thought it be a great idea to have the PS3 in a closed space and caused it to overheat. The original fat PS3 lasted until June 2011 5 and a half years after launch, me and my dad played the living shit out of the console that's how long it lasted. We got the slim later that same year and it's still alive today. I've played 12+ hours on that PS3 for months during summer break and not one issue since I've gotten It for Christmas 2011.

    Does this count as an error? One time, I was playing a game and it caused the system itself to crash and shutdown. Upon rebooting, the screen says that the system wasn't shut down properly as if I just unplugged it randomly. It was quite worrisome because it was trolling levels from Little Big Planet 2 that caused the crashes.

    SamSonic Videos It doesn’t really, I think what happened was in the troll levels the creator put so much crap into the level that it would crash the ps3 because it tried to keep up with the game. I would suggest keeping away from those levels.

    I remember my PHAT PS3 (that could play PS1 and PS2 games that were physical copies) kicking the bucket in December 2013, all while my father was overseas in China - imagine that! (as if 2013 kept bringing a shitload of unlucky events with me...) Me and my father shared the gaming system, mostly since it was his. Now both my father and I have our own PS4s. While my father has a classic PS4, mine is a PS4 Slim. Thanks to his lovely compromise over getting an expensive Nintendo Switch for Christmas in 2017, I can play my PS4 games on my own PS4 without having to tussle with my dad over playing the games on his PS4.

    My ps3 is from launch day and it still works great today with no issues whatsoever, just replaced the thermal paste 3 days ago and now it takes a few hours of gameplay to make it overheat
