Prussian grenadier guard unit fires, throws grenades and finally charge with bayonets against the Blackwatch (GB). I'm currently using Empire Total War with Darthmod.

I have NEVER played anything total war after that moment. Even Warhammer Total War felt off after that even though it was more than bearable I guess. Still I prefer remembering the Shogun days instead of creating any more bad experiences. Funny how we cannot have a game engine capable of replicating all moments in history. Looks Napoleonic. It's frightful to think that the Prussians and Great Britain were the underdogs against Napoleonic France. Even together, it was: "Win at Waterloo, or die trying."
@Marcus1Arelius3
Жыл бұрын
Kinda, sorta true. Napoleon was only able to raise a rather small army following his (triumphant) return from exile. He immediately sought peace and recognition of his status as Emperor of France from the other European powers, however his decades of constant warring and peace-breaking between former allies and enemies pretty much ruined any last hope of diplomacy for Napoleon. By the time the British army stationed in the Low Countries, under Lord Wellington, engaged in the Hundred Days’ Campaign against the French: half of Europe was already rapidly mobilizing their reserves to stomp out the Bonapartist yoke. To many contemporary historians that, even given a sounding French defeat of the British and Prussians at Waterloo, there was little to no way that Napoleon could save his position as Emperor of France. His existence was a threat to European stability and to all of the old monarchic regimes, therefore the coalition would stop at literally nothing to destroy that threat. Plus with Britain’s navy and vast economic and material resources, it is very likely that a protracted war against a resurgent France could have waged on for years until France simply couldn’t wage war anymore ((for manpower reasons, material shortage, growing instability, or otherwise).
