Nice work. They look great. We’re you using ear protection whilst doing the grinding?

Great job and very informative. A question please, how resistant are the plates against impacts, for example, drop them on the ground with nothing to cushion the impact?

Thanks Gianmarco! Same reply to your other question 👍 I guess it depends on what the material of the ground is made of? Grass, no problemo. A deadlift platform with rubber horse stall mats, no problemo. Concrete or a material the same or close to the same strength as the concrete? Probably not a good idea lol What kind of material are you going to be dropping them on? Also, probably not a good idea to drop 5's, 10's, or 15's made of concrete period, unless you already have some 25's or higher already on the bar. 👍

Why not just weigh all the ingredients dry? That way once they're dried, the weight is exactly what you want, and you don't have to grind.

Because the directions said to account for the difference the water, rerod, and fiber glass would add...which turns out to be minimal

@@TheIronMason Ah. The rebar and whatnot makes sense, but I can't imagine the plate will retain noticable amounts, if any, of water. I could be wrong though. Im no concrete expert

  • @HereticDuo

@privateassman8839 depends on where you are as well. Concrete generally stays cold when not in direct sunlight so moisture in the air condenses on its surface and is absorbed. If it's hot and dry then the plates will be the base ingredient weight but if it's humid then they are going to be a few % heavier

@@HereticDuo Interesting 🤔. I was thinking for extra strength you could fiberglass the plates. That way moisture wouldn't be an issue, and they'd be crack resistant.
