Prostate Cancer & Me: Guy's story

A positive attitude and sense of humour helped Guy through his journey with prostate cancer. Living with cancer since 2006, Guy has had as surgery, radiation and hormone therapy.
About the Cancer & Me Video Series:
Cancer & Me is a video series about the cancer journey. Cancer affects everyone. In our lives, we or someone we love will be diagnosed with cancer. Today, doctors and researchers have a better understanding of the causes of cancer so we can work towards prevention, and we have the tools and technology to treat cancer early so more people can have better outcomes.
To raise awareness and support those who are or will be affected by cancer, North York General Hospital, the North York Family Health Team and Cancer Care Ontario have developed the "Cancer & Me" video series that takes you through the journey: prevention, screening, diagnosis and treatment, and the stories of 4 people diagnosed with cancer.

Thanks for your testimony . Hope your PSA stays at a safe level for you to enjoy your life. 2 years ago my gleason score was 8 and PSA was 17. Didnt have surgery but radiation, hormone treatment, and seed implants. Im ok now but I would never do hormone shots again. You are so right about having a positive attitude!!

I’m a 3+ 4 (7) so I’m hoping I just need radiation. I’m going for the sit down discussion with the Urologist tomorrow. Being a sanitation worker I believe the hormone shots would kick my ass. I’ve been very active and doing resin training for the past 40 years. They say if you don’t do resistance training while on hormone therapy it could be brutal. Good luck

I was waiting, from testimony something else.I heard someone his name is guy and he did fasting for 45 days. He was cancer stage 4 and the doctors told he that he is going to die but he searched a lot and understand the only way to kill the cancer is to fast ! I am doing 16 hours fasting every day... It doesn't mean I am eating 8 hours ... No I ate but with moderation and all food who kills cancer. They told I have a few months to live... Grace a dieu this is now two years. My problem is I am alone and very sad. Ma daughter who ha 21 doesn't want to see me to talk to me... I did everything a mother can do for her but she's ingrate. She told me you are not my responsibility I answered to her crying what was my responsibility when your father left us you had 18 months I didn't left you and go to Kuwait where someone as rich as the president was waiting for me to marry me and gave me a beautiful villa de 2000m2 i refused everything and took you in my arm and heart 💖 to give you a good life...this is my life alone ...sad .... Missing the baby and the little girl to whom a did a lot of sacrifice I am in Italy ... She in the same area but not even take the phone and call😭

The last thing you said got me. And there's a lot of treatments out there. Which leads near me to believe that there's no cure at all why do anything I'm thinking. I have Gleason 7 and I am debating between prostatectomy and radiation proton radiation. But it seems like nothing works! And they're still coming up with new medications! WTF?!?!? Just saying I do like your video I am going to subscribe and look at others. Cuz this is 2024 and I wonder how you were doing.

Hello thank you for sharing your story! It does help to know what are others are doing so you know if your doctor is treating you Correctly. Can I ask you what Hormone treatment you were prescribed. I’m asking the doctor if Orgovyx Is better then Eligard Generic for Lupron. My Husband had his prostate removed Oct 2020 and has never had his PSA at zero so they now want to radiate the prostate wall for 8 weeks. Can you please share your thoughts and what you were taking. Thank you!

It's not debilitating? So far maybe. It spreads to the bones and then it's one of the most debilitating and painful cancers there is. The best medicine is fasting, ketogenic diet, and naturopathethic treatments. Read The Metabolic Approach to Cancer. There's the road map to start with

I would be careful with that way of thinking, I don’t know your situation but if you have a high PSA or any number above 4.0 address it with your doctor, it can save your life. My friend always avoided a rectal exam and PSA and finally at age 64 it spread outside his prostate and 6 months later it took his life. He just had the #1 radio show in New York Bernie and Sid after being in the business for at least 35 years and lost it all because he never addressed his prostate. Your doctor should make it part of your yearly physical after age 50 or earlier if you have cancer in your family. His mother and 2 siblings died of cancer. Don’t wait ,address it. Get an MRI first then a targeted biopsy if they find something ,not a random biopsy. Then you do your own research like me and make your own decision on what’s best for you. Know your options by doing your own research based on your Gleason score. Good luck
