This video shows 3 of my patients experiencing what is now routine after knee and hip replacement. Surgery and then walking, including up and down stairs, hours after surgery and home comfortably later that same day. With careful preparation and technique, almost all patients are now candidates for outpatient, day of surgery discharge. Knee and hip arthritis are common ailments that debilitate millions. Replacement surgeries have advanced such that they are less invasive procedures. Excellent surgical technique and multimodal analgesia allows for comfortable walking immediately, and a recovery that is much better than years ago.
