    Recently modified my 96 Z28 manual. Owned since Oct 95. Beautiful black paint job. Golen 383 LT1 460 hp/440 ft lb; new T56; Centerforce dual friction clutch; Baer Brakes, coil over suspension, aftermarket control ams, Koni adjustable shocks; Watts linkage, subframe connectors, anniversary 17x9 chrome wheels with sticky 275 Nitto autocross tires, & a lot more. The Z is immaculate everywhere. What's awesome is that it looks stock except for lowering. Obviously, I'm proud of it. It's a keeper.

    I bought my 1997 Mystic Teal Metallic Z28 in 2003. A one owner car with 56,000 miles. Just reached 100,000 miles on 9/4/23. It runs great and still gets the same mileage as when it was new. One of the first things I replaced were those not so attractive 5-spoke 16 in. wheels with a set of 2000 SS 17 in. 10-spoke take-off wheels from SLP for $400. Currently running on Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus 275/40 ZR17 tires. I also added tubular lower control arms and panhard bar, larger sway bars, Flowmaster cat-back exhaust, cast aluminum diff cover. Still a blast to drive. I've had it up to 125-135 mph a few of times. No tickets so far.

I kept it 17 years and used it for work. When I sold it 2 years ago, it had 341K miles on it. Still ran like a new car and never used a drop of oil. Did I put money in it? Yes I did, but it was a fun car and not a week went by when someone didn't give me a compliment in it. Even in traffic! I may buy another one before I die..

I have a 1996 Pontiac Trans Am Comp T/A (120 of ~200) with 31k mikes, and I freakin’ love it! Plenty of power (the Comp T/A got 310 hp), makes heroic sounds, handles like it’s on rails, and looks cool as hell. And the performance per dollar is hard to beat!

    Back in the day Motor Trend did an Article comparing the 97' Z-28 LT1 to the 98 LS1 both with stock exhaust while the LT1 booms urgently the LS1 played a more delicate tune even though it had more torque, The setup of the LS1 with the aluminum block seemed to absorb more sound and make it a little bit quieter, They also commented on the 93 through 97 Corvette exhaust which is not nearly as throaty as the Z-28 of the same period ,the Vetts were tuned to be much quieter which doesn't make sense to me.

    These lt1s are NOT bad motors at all. They have a bad reputation but i thinks thats just because they were misunderstood when they came out and were quickly overshadowed by the LS motor. Of course if you can get an LS do it, but if your just gonna mod a car slowly over time, these are fine options. Ive had one for years and it has the 24x coil pack conversion with 200,000 miles running strong.

    Darius Bryant you need a sell it before you ruin a Camaro. Get some wheel spacers and put corvette wheels on it. It’ll preform better and have a good stance, please don’t donk it and destroy the fenders and quarters. It will just look like a kid drew a car and then drew massive circles under it

  • @justinfbabay

    If no key just remove the three 10mm bolts that hold the hatch latch under the trunk carpet. Once you get the bolts out, then you can unlatch it, and then bolt it back up. I ran bout 8ft of speaker wire that i jumped into the hatch release button. So if im by myself and need to open the hatch just touch the wires and lift the hatch up. Just temporary till i get new hatch struts though lol!

    I'd recommend looking into broadform insurance, especially if you own or drive multiple vehicles. Broadform insures the driver, not the vehicle, and even covers you if you're driving someone else's car (as long as you have permission, that is ;)

    ChaosLord is that I like what they call a bond insurance? Thats what i had from like 18 to 22. Very good deal price wise, but if you have project car thats important to you, thats where it sucks because theres no coverage for it.

  • @chaoslord8918

    @chaoslord8918

    3 жыл бұрын

    @@justinfbabay I don't think it's bond insurance, (tho I'm not really sure what bond insurance is. Insurance is super-confusing by design, and I don't really get any of it, honestly). I think we're comparing apples and oranges tho. Broadform (or maybe it's "broad form") isn't the level of coverage like limited liability or comprehensive. It just insures the driver instead of a specific vehicle. I believe you can get full comprehensive coverage with broadform if you so choose. I personally just needed legal coverage, and when I switched from insuring just my Saturn SL to broadform, it only cost about $50 more for 6 months (so like $8/month more), which is a lot cheaper than covering two vehicles separately. The most important thing to remember tho... is to honk when you drive by Vern Fonk.
