Pros & Cons of Living in Grenada! An Honest Look At Life in Grenada! | Nezzle Talk Ep. 22

Hey Nezzle Fam, in today's video, I share an honest look at what life is like in Grenada. I share 7 Pros and 7 Cons of living in Grenada! I believe these will really help you to have a balanced view as to what to expect if you move to Grenada or even if you visit Grenada. I love my island and this video isn't intended to bash it in any way. However, I believe in painting a well rounded and honest picture so that persons are aware of what to expect; both the incredibly amazing parts of life in Grenada as well as the parts we wish we could do without. I'm sure none of these apply only to Grenada but I live in Grenada so I can only really speak for here.
I really hope you enjoy this video. If you do, please like it and leave a comment letting me know your thoughts on it. Feel free to add to the conversation if you think I left out anything. Great video! It's a shame Grenada doesn't tap into its agricultural potential more. It has some of the finest cocoa and spices on the planet which could be exported on a much larger scale. When I was last in Grenada I downloaded a good VPN to get proper access to Netflix and other blocked internet sites. Or get an Amazon firestick, they work well over there. Re import tax, your best bet is getting to know someone who works at the port. Sometimes they can help you out. $15 EC for almond milk is outrageous, you're better off buying the almonds and making your own.

  • @Nezzle

    @Nezzle

    3 жыл бұрын

    Even the almonds are crazy expensive oui sadly. The only affordable nuts we have are peanuts. Yes I agree that we have so much untapped potential in the agricultural sector. Unfortunately, most of the focus is placed on tourism. I’ve heard about the vpn. I will have to look into it. My brother has a fire stick but I don’t think it was programmed properly. With the importation of goods I usually use companies such as Websource where you don’t get to engage with any customs officers at all. You order the items, they’re shipped to an address in Miami, you send the company a copy of the invoice and the company brings them in then they add on their charges and duties and send you and email with the costs.

    The medical situation there is the main reason why I haven't moved bk to Grenada. At my age, I wish I could live back there, I won't take the chance, not with my medical complaints. I had to go to Barbados when I was 17 to check a lump and get a biopsy. I never forgot that.

    Yes; the healthcare system is not good. Terrible; especially in light of the presence of a large, well-established St. George’s Medical School. This is a large American business that if the leadership had any regard for the tiny population, would develop a world-class, mutually-beneficial healthcare system. Hoping that will change one day.

    Oh how I loved this one👍. It was very informative! You hit the nail on the head with all of the pros and cons. A pro for me is how accessible most places in Grenada are. Meaning, if as a tourist I wanted to take a look around in places that may be considered private, it is generally not a problem. As you stated, we are very friendly. A con for me, and this may be attributed to the size and relaxed nature of our island, but people are very nosy and gossipy. By the way, I loved the bloopers at the end! Thank you👏👍🏝🛶❤️

    Blessings Nezzie, as a descendent of Grenada, I hv never been, but Creator spare life, I will soon. As a Mid Level Healthcare Provider, I am disappointed as usual, but not surprised, as Grenada is not alone in this healthcare problem that plagues most Caribbean Islands. I go above and beyond in my practice because of this problem. It is my way of helping my people the BEST I can. I am PROUD to say how many patients hv said to me “Thank you so much, no one ever did/screen for/or have examined me as you. Prompt and regular screening and appropriate referrals are essential to successful healthcare in my humble opinion. Your video is very informative, and your presentation great👏🏾👏🏾

    Nice work on the video and great editing! You are simply an amazing speaker! I can understand why you would prefer to live in your home country, I would too! When you live in a big City like I do, people just don't take the time out to show each other love and care. Despite the high cost of living and import taxes, Grenada sounds like a much better living environment, mellow people that are actually nice to each other. I like it already!

    Thank you for sharing! My family and I have been living in Grenada just over 2 months. It's a beautiful country and I love that beaches are always close by and it's safe to go walking about with my kids. On the downside, certain food items are hard to find and sell out quickly. We're big on supporting local, so no problem there. Food is generally expensive, especially imported things. I was truly shocked at the cost of feminine hygiene products...that should not be as pads are an essential item. Electricity as well...truly shocking 🤯 . All in all, we love it here.

    Thank you for introducing us to the pros and cons of Grenada👌👌 It’s sad to learn that the #1 thing that bothers most people is the health care service. I understand why some people won’t return for good cos they are not use to this standard😂😂 Many questions are arising...”why can’t the governors come together and invest more money into this department?” Many a times we hear “we are doing it for our people”, but from the information shared, a lot more can be done.😊😊 let us hope for a better tomorrow for our people👍👍. Thank you for sharing light.💕

    Sadly, they focus on the areas which bring more income. Areas like the general hospital don't bring much income because most things there are subsidised so they pour monies into areas such as tourism instead. You're welcome though 😊 I'm glad you enjoyed it.

    You did a super job breaking the cons and pros down!!! This makes things simple and straight forward for those that has never visited Grenada. I am surprised Grenada don’t hire you as a spokes person - Ambassador of Tourism Nezzle😁. What’s the cost of meats like beef, steaks, pork, fish and turkey? You spoke highly of veggies but didn’t talk about meat. This is by far my favorite video!!!!!

  • @Nezzle

    @Nezzle

    3 жыл бұрын

    Thanks Seginald. Maybe one day Tourism will see that they're missing out by not having me on their team lol. Meat is costly if you want local meats (which I prefer to buy because it's much better health-wise). A tray of local chicken breasts with about 3 breasts can easily cost about $20 EC. Fish like tuna is usually about $7 a pound, others are about $8 or $9 a pound. I rarely buy beef, steaks and turkey. I purchase a good bit of ground beef though and you can get trays ranging from $7 to as much as $20 or even more but it depends on where you buy it. Turkey tends to be imported most times I see it so it's usually pretty affordable. I'm happy you found this video helpful.

Love it ...Here's a Con.....Mosquitos(Bugs) I may add that some of the cost included in todays living are none essential living expenses such as an abundant of electronic devices that carries a fairly substantial expense and although I know some of them are needed nevertheless they negatively affects the bottom line.

    Thanks for your video. It is well put together. Just found your channel. My concern is why is there such a lack of imports. What is the exchange there? There seem to be a lot of work left for the government to do. They need to encourage foreign investors if they cannot provide a lot of employment. The generosity is similar to what Trinidad was like when I was a child. I don't think that sort of thing still exist there like in former years. I now understand why so many Grenadians leave the island. Maybe they should get into tourism on a large scale like Jamaica has. The only problem is that I find holidaying in most of the Caribbean islands too expensive.

  • @Nezzle

    @Nezzle

    2 жыл бұрын

    You're welcome. There isn't a lack of imports. It's just very costly to import. The exchange is 2.7169 (selling) and 2.67 (buying) to 1 USD. We have quite a lot of foreign investors providing employment through establishments like hotels and restaurants. We also have the citizenship by investment program. However in some cases these investors come with their own workers and with the ease of movement between countries, there's still a lot of competition for employment.
