Propex HS2211 Heater in a Bushwacker Teardrop

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In order to be able to add all the things we wanted in our galley the factory installed heater had to go. In its place we installed a Propex HS2211 undermount heater under our Bushwacker 10 HD camper and we love it! Not only does it do a great job heating the camper, it sips LP and 12 volt power, and only takes up less than 10% of floor space in the galley that the factory installed heater took up! The addition of the Propex allowed us to install not only a stove/oven combination but also a 12v refrigerator in our galley and still have room for storage!

    I like the rerouting of the gas lines as well as the heater itself. You know my Chonky beast has really squirrely gas line positioning.

    We are adding a shutoff switch to the heater to keep otnfrom doing the self test everytime we turn on the battery master switch to the camper. Since I cap the exhaust it will throw a master error code if I turn the master on with it capped and it does its self test. It only needs to do that when we are actually going to use it instead of evertime we power up the camper.

    I love this video! have you had any issues with the proper using the air filter for the inlet?

  • @adventuresofthememorymakers

    No issues with either air filter. If I know we are going to be traveling a good distance on a dusty gravel road I will cover the burner inlet airfilter under the camper with a plastic bag before hand. Just be sure to remove the bag before sending power to the Propex or it will throw the master error code and you will have to press the master reset button on the heater under the camper.

    Great video. No moisture issues with this heater from combustion?

    Not that I have seen. It vents outside so all the moisture from combustion goes out in the exhaust. The heater actually helps dry out the air in the camper.

    Curious how this is holding up aftera year of use. I like the features of the propex heater, and mounting it underneath would give me a lot more space. Im just worried about the heater getting exposed to the elements under my van, i travel a lot on dirt roads, mountains, and beaches.

    Its been doing fine under normal driving conditions. Its designed for marine applications so the unit is pretty well sealed. On our Bushwhacker its protected by the frame really well.

    Thank you for watching. I ran the wire for the thermostat inside the wall between the gally and cabin area then through the cabinet on the passenger side then installed it on the forward face of the cabinet.

    Sir, I'm going to add this unit to by rig soon. I live in Colorado and it gets cold in the mountains, what is the coldest that you have operated it? How does it do in below freezing conditions under the body?

    The unit is sealed in a stainless steel case and since it's designed to be mounted under a campervan it works just fine. We have not been out in extremely cold weather with it, high 20's so far and it did great. Obviously it runs more but that is a function of the lack of insulation in a camper. Cosmo Weems has videos of him out in zero degree Temps with his.

    Thank you. I’m currently working on making the brass tee fittings like you have. Did you connect straight to the gas inlet on the unit and remove the copper compression fittings that come with it? Was is a straight 1/4 or 3/8?

  • @adventuresofthememorymakers

    @adventuresofthememorymakers

    @jeremycarey4347 it took me a second to remember where the brass tea was at. So you're connecting your two LP Regulators to the one high pressure line like what we did. I don't remember any compression fittings they were all pipe or flare. I still remember how much they cost though! Sadly they are even more today. I can't remember if I discussed this in the video or not but if you put a cap on your exhaust to keep dirt and nest building bees out of it I highly suggest you put a on-off switch in the camper somewhere so she can turn the heater off independently. That way if you shut your battery supply to the camper off and then turn it back on the heater will not do it self-test. If it does a self-test with the exhaust cap on you have to do a master reset and that button is on the unit underneath the camper. Just trying to save you a little bit of a headache.

    @jeremycarey4347 our unit had a ¼" male flare fitting on it. I used a Mr Heater rubber low pressure supply line from the 15wc Regulator to the heater
