PROJECT: Olaf - THE 2.0 FSI ENGINE REBUILD - Will it bring me peace or will I REST IN PEACE?

Ойын-сауық

Welcome to another exciting episode of Project Olaf. I'm finally starting the rebuild process of my 2007 Audi A4 2.0T FSI engine! In my previous episodes I removed the power train, identified the low oil pressure and repaired the engine. Now it's time to put it all back together. In part one I start the rebuild process from the engine block and wrap up the episode installing the cylinder head. Stay tuned for part two!

    The engine is so tall it reminds me of my 124 Spider engine. Also a twin overhead cam and just as tall! Good work!

    Hey thanks for the kind words! I got the manual from emanualonline dot com. Be careful because often times they have to sell you the manual in a virtual machine to get it to work. For the Audi they send me Windows XP as well so I could boot it up. lol

    “While I’m In There” or WIIT Syndrome is a serious condition most gear heads suffer from. I mean, the engine is out! Might as well refresh the bearings, right? Don’t tell your spouse! 😂

    Somehow or another, my B7 went from front control arm replacements, onto a completely new suspension (every single bushing) wheels, tires, shaved engine bay, and now a built engine which is why I'm watching this video. It has been a severe case of WIIT syndrome

    Great video! I’m looking to rebuild My 2007 Volkswagen GTI engine next summer and add some beefy rods and upgraded internals. What’s the best book or best information I can find to do the Job? TIA! I’ve never rebuilt an engine but, I have patience and love studying.

    The Audi 2.0 engine is very common and parts will be really easy to source. I'd start with getting a workshop manual from emanualonline.com There are step by step instructions on how to remove the engine and tear it down and back together. Good luck!

    Yogi, new subscriber here! Great videos by the way. I have a favor to ask, can you provide me the disassembly and assembly sheets you are using for this project? I have the same B7 and am going to undertake the rebuild myself. Thank you!

    Hey I would if I could. I bought them from emanualonline ; but they sent me a WinXP virtual machine with the workshop app running on it. I had to buy a cheap printer that XP would support so that I could print them. Not ideal but I only payed 20-30 dollars for it.

  • @YogisGarage

    @YogisGarage

    Thanks Guy! I got them from eManualsOnline.com. Keep in mind this company basically copies the workshop manuals either from a hard copy or they make you download a virtual machine so that you can run the application that stores the manual. The Audi is the ladder. I have to load up a Windows XP session to load the app, to load the manual. lol Costs around $30 USD.

    i wish you had showed how to time the oil pump/ balance shaft assembly

  • @YogisGarage

    @YogisGarage

    Жыл бұрын

    You don’t have to time that. But if you really want to, just put the engine on TDC then slap the chain on. Good luck and thanks for watching. Btw, I’m doing another short Olaf series because the oil pump balance shafts came loose. I saved the engine though.

    Hi Hector and thanks for watching. I do share specs while I’m torquing but maybe not for each item I’m reinstalling. I will say that the torque values are pretty standard across the board. M8= 12ftlbs m10=19ftlbs etc. that is readily available on the internet. I’d you have a specific question let me know!

    Funny you should bring that up just now. Olaf is back in the shop after my son decided to take it up to 124MPH and now the cams are out of phase and there's glitter in the oil. Could be an oil pump since the pickup has been replaced. Stay tuned for an update to this story very soon.
