Profitable month for my client... still refunded my service fee | My SMMA Journey

In this video of my smma agency journey I tell you about a client which I had to refund our service fee even though we brought him profitable results. Last few weeks we've been facing some unforeseen challenges with my lead gen agency and I wanted to share those with you.

And… the preview for this video it says “I messed up”. Dude you are killing it! Whether you intended that headline, I think you could have said “growing pains, and we honored our guarantee”, or something to that effect. I don’t think you messed up, you just found out another way to deliver exceptional customer service, and demonstrate your strong work ethic, credibility, and accountability. All exceptional values that any client would want to be associated with!

I'm surprised your client requested for the refund though. Usually for me at least, they say: "oh don't worry about the guarantee." Because at the end of the day you made them money. What you can do instead is one month with the guarantee, and if you don't fulfill that, you say at the monthly call: "I suppose we're not a good fit moving forward since we couldn't deliver on our guarantee". They'll say "oh but I want to keep this relationship going! Is there any way we can do this guarantee thing again for next month?". Then, you can just say: "Actually, clients who continue with us operate on a retainer basis"... something along those lines. I'm not an expert but have some experience. What do you think, Juan?

To avoid losing that guarantee by a slim margin on your next clients, make sure you run the ads from your own business manager. That way, the client can't see the ad spend. If you need to use some of your own money for the ad spend, you will keep some of your money and still hit the guarantee.

I'm watching your videos and literally everything you're saying word for word with the ad performance is what I'm experiencing as well. I had the same problem then launched a video ad and things went up. Make sure to check your frequency on the ads manager. Once it gets to over 2-2.3 ads stop performing well. Also, if you offer a guarantee, make sure you have an adequate budget to make it a reality. Because a big reason why you don't reach the guarantee is if the client didn't spend an adequate amount to reach it. Now you know more about how much a client needs to spend in order to reach the desired numbers.

In one of your videos you personified the issues with not being able to find anyone to sign or give you a chance and how much volume we have to do for prospecting, that's what Im living right now. What extremely stresses me is not knowing how long it will take. I have quantifiable objections that aren't being met so had to put them on hold, going through every damn day the family struggling in some way because of finances. I should say Im going to sign a client this month but I don't know what the exact plan is. Done multiple methods but they don't seem to work at all. Awesome video. This is the reason why many agencies have VAs, who call every single lead, as an automated text is not enough. Every 4-5th should convert into an appointment, if that's not the case, something might be up with the follow up. Also, you might want to try an AD into Calendly link streight (clients calendar), that eliminates bleed process, also you can incorporate stripe charges, workflows to guarentee they show up.

Everything is predictable if you factor in all the variables necessary. It can seem unpredictable because you are not aware of the severity of certain variables, so factor them in. For example, time ads run compared to when people are most interactive with ads. Location the ads are displayed to, etc. Good luck bro!

I bought a course, and the course said you shouldn’t test or put new ad creatives in an adset that’s performing because it will put ur adset back into the learning phase. Which will hurt your overall adset performance because in the learning phase, Facebook’s algorithm doesn’t know what audience will like ur ad so everything becomes less optimized. Even if the adset wasn’t performing, u prolly made the adset go back into learning phase which hurt the overall performance of that adset even more

Juan, how do you know the amount of $ you can spend from a clients account on ads? I was thinking about u and other other youtube smma creators and how people have guarantees for client aquisitions but like does that not depend on the amount of $ you spend on ads?
