Profilometer (Barton comb) test to Measure Joint Roughness Coefficient of Rock Surface

Profilometer (Barton comb) test is a simple test used to gauge the rock surface roughness and determine the rock JRC (joint roughness coefficient). This test gives some estimate of the rock surface roughness, and the number from 0 (flat surface) to 20 (extremely rough surface). The joint roughness coefficient is used to estimate the shear strength of jointed rock, a parameter that is used for slope stability analysis. To learn more about JRC and slope stability, please read my paper called 'Determination of joint roughness coefficient (JRC) for slope stability analysis: a case study from the Gold Coast area, Australia', which can be found free of charge on my ResearchGate page.
