How to Measure Friction between Two Rock Surfaces I Tilt Test Procedure

Tilt test is used in rock mechanics to measure the friction between two rock surfaces as it is a important factor that can contribute to the overall shear strength of jointed rock mass. It is a simple test based on the gravity force, and inclination of the tilt device.
in this test, we used rough/rigged rock surfaces, which will give a relatively greater friction angle compared to polished (smooth) surfaces. The rough surfaces will also produce some interlocking that can significantly increase the final value.
