Was super fun creating this Devlog, working on your indie games, seeing all the projects. I'm very impressed by what some of my subscribers are capable of! Never been a better time for indie game devs, very excited to follow all your progress.
More Devlogs in the works! Have a good one, cheers!

A little disclaimer about my opinions during the sponsored segment - I was speaking from my honest, and *highly personal* experience but don't forget a degree course is of course not the only route you can take. There are lots of resources online and whether or not you decide to go for a degree I recommend giving those a look anyway. If you do decide to go the college route then a Computer Science/Programming Degrees are another route for learning game dev. Remember to research everything thoroughly yourself to find out what is best for you 👍

How did you make those animations that look like you just moved some pictures around with your mouse? I know I probably sound like a fool but i cant find an app that does that. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

It was an honor to have my game spruced up by you! The inverse kinematics look AMAZING and the shooting and reloads feel so much snappier. I recently had to take a little break from game dev to work on my KZread channel but I'll be coming back to SlotShot very soon! 🔥🔥 The other games look great too! It's the other way around for me. I adore the changes he made for the other games, but the run animation for the pixel art one went from roguish to ridiculous.
0:20 The fact that the word timing was a nearly a second after all of the other phrases just shows the attention to detail!

Such a well structured video, loved the timing joke
This video was an absolute treat. Such ridiculously appealing motions from start to finish - and so cool that you honored the style of each respective game. I'm sure animating that sponsored bit was more work than you expected after doing all three games - but it was well worth it - totally made me pay attention. Fantastic work.

It's crazy how just adding better animation to characters makes the game feel that much more polished and fun to play.
It's incredible how much you can immediately notice and know what to change just by looking at the old animations, this is really inspiring!
One thing that I’d also throw in if I were working on the third is animating the face a little. I’d personally add in a open mouth smile on the jump
And here we are again, with another one year break.
The slot machine gun idea is really cool.
That sponsor segment was so good ahahah!
Hooray! Hooray, hooray, hooray! A new Robert Thompson video! I missed you're videos so much! I must commend you're animation. It looks FAR better than most famous youtube animators! Seriously! Criminally Underrated channel right here
Randomly got this video recommended and honestly had to watch the whole thing through. I really love the vibes and all the fundamentals and semi-obscure info he goes about with a comedic twist. I’m studying illustration at Uni atm but I’ve done some animations and this channel is a goldmine with its humor and teachings. Thank you for this content Robs! 😄
all the little animations you drew in between scenes are so satisfying to watch for some reason. I even rewind and watch them twice

30 seconds in and you're already one of my favourite channels in this platform
12:23 "It looks like it might have been inspired by Celeste". Understatement of the year there...
3:25 the code is writing itself lmao I love your videos!
For anyone looking to start learning or improve upon their current knowledge of animation I highly recommend watching the "21 Foundations of Animation" by @angryanimator Although 21 might sound a lot scarier than 12 (The 12 principles are obviously part of the video) I promise the video is only 9 minutes and somehow still conveys all the information in a very digestible and understandable way, and remember, even when you've learnt something you're going to need a refresher every now and then, and for me this is really the only video I recommend at this point! Also I hate how skilled your are Robert, Even though I understand that you have been doing this for years and in a professional setting, and even knowing that I don't do animation and am really just a programmer, I still envy your skill so so much, I'll probably never put in the time and effort that you have, but I still like to tell myself I'll get there someday, I hope your youtube journey and gamedevelopment journey are good ones!
Would've liked to see a side by side comparison of the before and after at 8:32. Other than that, thanks for the free content dad.
I love your animation style and artwork, it's very unique while also having lots of character to it.
Bro you’re telling me you worked on Sarah & Duck? I love that show!
Your thought process throughout this video is enlightening and applies abstractly to so many other facets completely unrelated to animation. Instant subscribe dude
Super fun to watch real life examples and how your trained eye can detect the specific tweaks that would make them better & more realistic. Good stuff!
Robert I love you content. I think it's the mix of humor and useful information or something but everything you make is so fun and charming and it's definitely my favorite game dev content out there. Keep up the good work man :)
I love your Stick figure animations, they feel so full of life and make me smile a lot :D and the made animations for the games Look really cool, too. It's cool to see your workflow :)
This is the first video I saw of urs and I loved it and it was really funny :D so yeah! Also your argument at 0:42 is actually SO fucking interesting cuz like. I guess just any sort of discussion about the nitty-gritty elements that must make up a thing is always going to feel like this tricky balance between the honest thing you're trying to convey (like a particular emotion / experience, which technically doesn't require animation at all), and the physical... real... execution of the thing. Like we all have IDEAS about stuff that would be cool to make (whether game development, animation, art, photography, cooking, conversation, whatever). But the moment we are confronted with the vast technical difficulties of actually enacting those impressions of ideas, we either run away or make something that's kinda crap or study technique so hard we forget the thing we wanted to make in the first place. But like, we also can't FORGET technique. If I'm trying to convey happiness, I can DO that with a grilled cheese sandwich, but like, if I want to convey happiness *and make an animation*, ok, shit, I AM actually gonna have to experiment with my craft (which can be intimidating and humbling, because we actually need to fail to learn, dats why it's called practice). So like. Yeah. We don't need animation in video games. But we've been spoiled by the fact that animation happens to be an INCREDIBLY ubiquitous aspect of all the games we PLAY. I'm rambling but uhhh thank u 4 reading tanks Edit: Hoooly shit and ur comments about limitations and stuff, YES. I forgot to mention u are actually a GOOD ANIMATOR like your animations are very GOOD and they are very HONEST and humor is a brilliant foundational goal that you execute very well, and yeah
Absolutely love your structure of making videos, keep it up! :D
Your videos are really entertaining and imformative, keep up the amazing work man
