actually, she wrote the lyrics, had a part on the choreo and kinda helped to make the MV. She took the outfits etc herself. So that doesn't make sense honestly, if you want to hate because you're jealous cause she's the first, then just go.

Jennie’s song was good, but I wish it was longer and she had another rap verse before the song ended with the dance break.

To be honest i feel like they wanted to play it safe with jennie i mean she was the first member to go solo and yes she's popular enough to succeed with whatever concept or style they choose but that was probably it, just in case perhaps. Personally, i'm glad they did, whatever this was it worked, but it's probably just jennie's effect. She'll be a great soloist.

Savanna Wong they never said she left blackpink, they just said she went solo, which means she made a debut as a soloist. Also, concept in terms of what PD was talking about does not completely mean the lyrics, but rather the visuals in the clothing and MV, and the style of the song. PD was also talking about independence though, which is related to breakup, as one is independent after a breakup.

Shes a rapper yes but lots of YGs main rapper does this, just like gd, mino and bobbys solos. Actually YGE just love her strong voice so much,(or just love her individually,)YG did not treat her like a sub rapper. If you hear bp songs, shes got the most rap lines and also lots of vocal parts. Its more like lead vocal lead rapper actually.

Solo isn't a bad song, I think it's decent. I would listen to it for a few weeks before getting bored of it. Honestly, I wish that Solo had included more of Jennie rapping because I think her rapping is just as good if not better than her singing. It really does seem like YG is playing it safe with this song.... P.S. - I'm pretty sure the MV was shot in London, but correct me if I'm wrong.

my biggest complain is that the mv looks more like publicity for a perfume at the begining than a mv, right at the ending I feel more what it's communicating but at the begining there's something laking, it's so emotionless. although, it's understandable knowing that yg made them do more publicity campaigns than songs

The beginning is suppoused to represent the sadness after a break up. She's sad and trapped in that luxury mansion and when she breaks the pink bracelet it means she has had enough and wants to break free. The pool represents the tears and she's throwing pages of the diary into it (the diary is her love story. She wants to forget about it). So that's basically the beginning. Then she finally evolves (the washing machine scene) and becomes independet.

mina’s universe both were produced by Teddy and he has def his distinctive style. I mean after you listen to some songs produced by him you can almost always tell if the song has his touch or not so yeah

She's charismatic and has great stage presence, but I feel like there's something lacking. Artists like HyunA, or IU or even Chungha seem to have an it factor that's missing. But maybe it's just the mediocre song

@@managersejinstan1523 It's both the mediocre song and the fact that her voice when both rapping and "singing" doesn't stand out at all. She has no concept of vocal technique, if given proper training she could be something phenomenal to witness. But as is, she's basic (in terms of her voice). You could legit find a hundred of her (voice wise) on a street corner. She needs to develop her voice more. She has a pleasant tone, but it's being overridden by her shouting/breathing into the mic rather than actually singing. Training her voice will allow her voice to shine at its fullest potential. Until then she's going to be stuck having next to no range and completely limited vocals.

In all honesty I love the quality even though it’s from a webcam and you should use it a bit more as the comment said “we care more about your thoughts than the actual video quality”.

Tbh it feels like a rehashed/unfinished Sunmi track, which actually could be true considering Teddy is the producer of Gashina, Heroine and also this song. He's not famous for being creative so i can see this being some discarded/unfinished track he had hanging there. This doesn't mean the song is bad, i like the song, however it feels lazy and unimpressive.

Rei in my opinion, motion sickness is not an excuse for lazy performances. She used to work hard on the stage with the other members but now I find it a bit disappointing and you can see how much she doesn’t seem to care.

The teaser honestly betrayed what I thought it would sound like. I thought it would be a revolutionary, strong debut but instead, all I got was the regular instrumental beat drop for a chorus. The song definitely grew on me, but I just wish it had a stronger impact - something not too out there but definitely not just a song without an actual lyrical chorus.

earl grey same, and unfortunately a lot of teasers are misleading and serve as a hype for the song and video. Example, When I saw the very first teaser video for TWICE what is love, I thought I was gonna be an adorable & hard bop, and instead we got an soft pop-electro beat...the choreography was nice but still hated the song lol Idk if Solo is the only song Jennie has in her solo campaign but maybe her next one will be better.
