The rappers of Dreamcatcher are Dami (main rapper) and Sua (lead rapper). But in recent releases Sua has shifted more towards the vocal line of the group. Gahyeon though isn't listed as a rapper. Though she had a small part in Fly High and in the b side (Scars). But this is her first substantial rap part in any song and it shocked myself and many others!

Additionally Happyface Entertainment have just rebranded themselves as 'Dreamcatcher Company' as they intend to focus all of their resources and time into further developing Dreamcatcher. So we can expect a lot more amazing comebacks in the coming years!

+amy In Kpop, main means best and lead is second best. Its like President and Vice President or Leader and Co Leader.

@@animegirl1414_random this is VERY incorrect, main, lead and sub have no link to quality but are roles in the group, being the best isn't exactly a role. Your main vocal will be the one who gets full unique verses, usually the longest verse and sometimes the chorus aswell, a lead vocal will also get unique verses but these are usually split among the leads and sub will take harmonies and repetitive parts like chorus or pre-chorus. Can the main vocal be the best vocalist, sure, is it always the case, nope. 2NE1 is the best example of showing this, Minzy had the strongest vocal from a technical standpoint but Park Bom was the main vocalist, this was due to her adopting a unique style to her singing that made it standout more.

they said before that the group's *main concept* is rock and this horror concept is just one of the concept they explored and they have said before they wanted to experiment more with what they can do with rock sounds and what genre they could implement it with. yeah i'm also sad that they're ending this nightmare story :') but still rooting for more from them in the future!

Also! Their company changed their name to Dreamcatcher Company! This is their 6th and final mv in their "Nightmare" concept. Their new album The End of Nightmare marks the end of the Nightmare they started at debut in January 2017, so we don't know what dream they'll enter next or what concept they'll go for! Please support their in whatever style they do next!

about company name change, it's not really a change in a way. happyface ent is still their "parent company" and dreamcatcher company is the sub-company because happyface's upcoming boy group label will be named "group name" company, like dreamcatcher.

I really hope so ; but i feel like they would also be thinking of branching out to other genres to gain more Korean audiences ; the rock/heavy guitar style is more popular in western countries/Japan. Either way - they'll kill it

the ep is named “the end of nightmare” although I’m not sure if that necessarily means the end of the nightmare concept but if it was, although I would be a little sad, I think it’s smart. changing concepts would attract even more fans and we shouldn’t be worried whether they will do good or not, they’ve already proved they can pull any concept off. also GAHYEON WTF, I WAS SHOOK.

For anyone who was curious what a Piri was like me! "The piri is a Korean double reed instrument, used in both the folk and classical music of Korea." It kind of looks like a recorder made out of bamboo! I don't know if the instrument in the song itself is a piri or not but 🤷

Coolp1000 The hand movements are like more of flute positions. Piris are more of oboe/recorders

The white is representative of the alternate dimension the Spider Curse Yoohyeon’s soul got left in in You and I. Jiu finds the book from Good Night in What and uses it to send the entire group in to save Yoohyeon. They are then confronted with their worst fears but they all find each other and escape the nightmare.

This is undoubtedly their heaviest song to date. 'What' is not quite as heavy as this, but because the instrumental sounds louder, it felt like it was heavier. This, is their best song for line distribution, every member got fair amounts of line and spread out nicely. And as well as you said and tweeted before, this is not their best music video because to be fair 'You And I' is a little bit superior, *BUT* the simplistic concept for this music video fits really well, not only with the story in it, but the song as well. It's more like complementary, we have a heavy rock sound with somehow a simple set of visual music video.

Piri is an instrument that some say that is the end of bad things, and in fact the name of the album is "The End of Nightmare". And they actually are really into babymetal, so probably there's kind of an inspiration and roots for the crazy drumming

I think when the concept and genre were announced for their group debut, some higher up suggested listening to babymetal but they ended up LOVING them...they should probably check out Band Maid too lol

Unfortunately, they haven't gotten their 1st win yet that's why I hope that they'll win their 1st win this time! Piri is definitely my favorite song of them rn!🔥

@@umiku9407 I know it isn't all about the fame your company has, but with YG you're almost guaranteed to success. But the freedom thing might be a possibility considering YG doesn't allow it's trainees/artists to date or have surgeries (though I think that last one is limited to artists) and they are very strict, but I think FNC gives a lot of freedom to their people. Anyways, Gahyeon wouldn't have shined in Cherry Bullet the way she does here in Dreamcatcher, so I'm happy with that.

@@cantputashrugasausernameso5105 The Big 3 always have tens of trainees, and in the end, Gahyeon might not even debut, and I doubt she'd be in Blackpink. Even if she did debut in YG, while she is guaranteed to succeed, she'll not be very active schedule-wise and comeback-wise. Maybe she knew that, and she didn't want that situation. She most likely did not want to take the risk, and wanted to debut already, so instead of waiting on Cherry Bullet, she went to Happyface (now known as Dreamcatcher Company) and debuted in Dreamcatcher after just 6 months in the company. I'd say it was a good choice. The group is decently popular overseas, they're gaining more and more popularity every comeback. Not to mention, her trainee debt is probably much lower compared to Minx members.

@@pearlofivris If that's true, then she's hella smart. Companies often open auditions when they have plans on debuting a group, so maybe she heard about Happyface's auditions and went there knowing that the chances she had to debut were higher. She did a smart move.

Actually, I want to explain about what the meaning of the title 'PIRI', Dreamcatcher's new song. 'PIRI' is the sound of Korean word '피리'. PIRI(피리) is one kind of Korean traditional instruments. If you want to translate and understand that, I can interpret the word to flute. In Korea, when we have to translate PIRI(피리) in English, we use the word 'flute'. You could understand that just Korean traditional flute in English. I really wish that Dreamcatcher become a famous, popular girl band in my country! Thank you for loving them:)

The electric guitar at the start still has me shook. I love Dreamcatcher. Their sound is amazing and unique, especially in the KPop industry. They're spooky, rock queens.

I think this is easily their best song. It's somehow their heaviest but at the same time it's so poppy and sing-a-long worthy in the chorus. Also the red and black outfits are gorgeous and the fan chants really pop off during the live stages

I have never listened to them before and this MV, have to admit, got me very interested. I used to listen to Jrock(mostly Gazette, Malice Mizer and Dir En Gray) so much when i was younger that when i heard the song for the first time the whole vibe made me feel so reminiscent about the old days, that i had to give them a try. Being a self-taught violinist who actually loves the electric guitar, drums and bass, i was mesmerized that a kpop group would have this sound whatsoever. That's why i agree with many of the topics you discussed here and i am happy for this reaction! Thank you for checking it out and giving your opinion, it helps a lot!

They always bring their best on the table, the reason why we InSomnia stay loyal to them.. And Yet, DreamCatcher still In The Hunt for the 1st win and InSomnia's were working hard towards there. Just like your say this was the right time. PIRI are win worthy song for DC to to achieve their 1st win

Good Night was their heaviest song until PIRI. What is now in the third place when it refers to heavy songs. BUT What is still my fav. It has that nice beat I love. PIRI tho, is a complete and certified BOP ❤️

I read in a comment that the Piri is an instrument from Korea. It's, apparently, taboo to play the Piri at night because it brings snakes and... Evil(?) I haven't search for what a piri is.

Honestly I'm tired with people calling Dreamcatcher's music "a concept". Guys. Their concept is nightmare. Their GENRE is rock. Rock is not a concept for God's sake!!!! I see even Dreamcatcher themselves naming it concept...

@Labradoorr for me it doesn`t have anything to do with a fact that it`s british or american, cause they don`t own alternative or pop rock - and actually I`d like to say that Dreamcatcher ARE pioneers in the music they do, because they ARE the first pop-rock IDOL GROUP. Not a band, not and idol band. They have choreography and very recognisable "structure" of the songs that pop artists use - but all that in alt rock genre. For me the thing is that yes, rock is a GENRE, and if you`ll have to invent idol-rock genre just for Dreamcatcher - so be it. Calling rock a concept is closeminded (because I suppose you`re unable to perceive rock) and in a way disrespectfull, since concept is an abstract planned temporary thing by definition, when rock is a historically established style.

I've been waiting for you to do a reaction to PIRI as I was curious what you thought of it. ^_^ I do agree that in terms of the MV, this is not the best from them. I personally like "You & I" and "Fly High" better. From a music standpoint though... This has got to be one of the best I've heard so far. Mainly due to them incorporating the flute sounds, it's more of a melodic metal kinda vibe. Of course not to the extent of full orchestra mixed with heavy rock/metal sounds, but still it's something different especially coming from a girl group! I'm really hoping they can get their first win with PIRI. They deserve some recognition!

WOW - I mean ever since What I have been officially sold...but this song is just pure magic!

“I dOnT fUcK WiTh dOlLs” WHAT A MOOD

When you described their songs as different categories I was like yes, this is exactly how I feel! "You and I" had been my favorite so far, and then I really fell in love with "Piri", but couldn't pick a single favorite of the two. The way their sound has been progressing, their songs become hard compare because they are definitely emphasizing different subgenres of metal and hard rock to best fit the progression of their narrative. I am beyond excited to see where they go next with so many subgenres to experiment with! They've grown to be so innovative, and I would love for them to do avant garde metal at some point. I feel like they could really knock that concept out of the part. PS. After watching the MV making film, did anybody else get the feeling that Jiu and Yoohyeon got such similar hair colors so that one unveiling scene could happen seamlessly? If that was the thinking behind that choice I really commend the whole team for such full commitment to the cinematography. Personally, I feel like that one scene really brought this MV rounded out the "Nightmare Era", both in continuing the running theme of confronting different aspects of themselves, as well as mirroring the scene in "Fly High" where Jiu sees another version of herself. It is quite different and minimal compared to previous MVs, but I think those connections and attention to detail really elevate it above what it would be in isolation. PSS. When they had the shofar in the beginning scene and blaring (definitely enhanced, but distinctly sounding like that instrument for sure) at the start of the song, my little Jewish heart was so happy. It can also be seen as adding another layer of metaphor because the shofar is traditionally blown on on Rosh Hashanah (the Jewish New Year), and this song is the end of the current era and the start of a new one. It's unlikely that that was the intention because that reference would be so specific to Judaism, whereas Christianity is the Western religion that has been most widely adopted in Korea, but I think it is a fitting interpretation nonetheless.
