I'm glad you talked about CLC's sound. A lot of people think CLC don't have a concept, but for me I think it's exciting that they change concepts every comeback and this shows how versatile they are and not afraid to hold back

I love CLC to pieces, but I personally feel like CUBE keeps changing their sound just to see what will finally stick with the audience (Korean audience, specifically). That said, they've executed every different concept thrown at them very well, which is the most important thing and the more the girls can get to experiment, the more versatile they will become. Whether fans are on board or not with every new change in sound, that's up to them to decide, though.

D I haven't thought about that but I agree, I've noticed that after Hobgoblin ended, CLC were coming back with Where are you? a soft concept and a lot of "fans" left and did not get the amount of attention they are receiving with BLACK DRESS sadly 😞 I think they slay the girl crush concept and they get a lot of attention internationally. I know that they aren't well known in Korea even though they debuted in 2015 the same year as TWICE, and GFRIEND and they still haven't reached that amount of success. I know Yeeun has been receiving a lot of attention for her new look so I hope CUBE promotes them and sends them to variety shows for more exposure. I REALLY hope they get a 1st win. In a way, they kinda remind me of Red Velvet with their change in concepts and b-side tracks so let's hope this year is CLC's year 🙏💪🏽

I think we'll get used to their technique of showing 2 sides of them I've been a fan of them since day 1 so I don't really care which concept they choose...it's just sad how some fans left just because of the concept change...they can't be called a true fan they're more like a stranger who just stopped by to listen and enjoy for awhile. CLC did the girl crush concept for the international fans or audience because a lot of them are demanding it.... The softer and girly side is for the korean fans.... Their company needs to learn how to release the girls on the right timing.... Their concepts are pretty fine and are solid...it's the timing of comeback that needs to be done well. Also, they need to go on variety shows more.... it may not always be all the members but at least 1 or 3 members must go promote.... CUBE really needs to handle things more properly

And to PD’s point there’s definitely a lot of sexism in kpop and for girl groups to do “badass” concepts it either has to be in a crazy spikes Mohawk kinda way with weird outfits, or in a Black Pink/Hyuna kinda way where on stage they’re super badass but cute off stage. Otherwise they just have cute/sexy concepts but even still they have to be cute off stage. I wish that wasn’t the case Bc a lot of people when defending hyuna is like “oh she’s not that sexy n crazy in real life it’s just her stage persona” but female idols should be allowed to act badass off stage too n not be seen as prude or cocky or whatever. I love BP n hyuna tho don’t get me wrong but go CLC for this song!

In my opinion I think this is CLC's best song. I love everything about it ❤ These girls never fail to amaze me. I really hope they get their first win soon.

We need a diving deeper into Clc, they have a lot of differents genres in their bsides song...

CLC is one of my favorite groups of all time and this comeback just reminded me why I love their music so much - diversity, experimentation, and talent. They have tried so many different genres but still have a “sound” and the members are all individually strong and magnetic. I can’t believe cube doesn’t promote them better and that it’s 2018 and they still haven’t won a music show. I think they’d do really well in the general public if cube actually bothered but I feel like they’re going to become as lazy promoting as they did with 4minute (another astounding group that deserved so much better) and probably just focus on one or two members (probably sorn and seunghee or yeeun). I hope not though, CLC is such a great group and I’ll be so sad 😭

Tbh their company is kind of known for shit promoting (4minute was a good example of this like you mentioned...) so I truly hope this group full of talent doesn't end up disbanding because they are under cube.

if you follow Cube's activity lately you'll know they've gotten so much better at promotion. i can barely keep up with their schedule not to mention they're currently promoting pretty much every artist they have right now (CLC comeback, Ilhoon's solo debut, Hyuna and PTG are preparing for comebacks, Jeon Soyeon is making a comeback on the 28th, actively updating their channel with content, plus sending their artists to variety and radio shows). CLC is in good hands, don't worry ^_^

You can't put all the blame on Cube when people also ignored them, not support them and even not giving them recognition. The "new" Cube already did a lot for them (but surely not enough), Cube make them try different concepts every cb, let them participating in cb preparation, considering all their opinions, let them involve things they like and most important, Cube did not give up on them. If you are watching closely Cube activities this year, you can't catch up all of them. There are too much 😅 lol

i don't think cube doesn't promote them better. if you check out cube channel they are even getting better. and mind you, cube even let their talents to do what they want to do on their own music. cube is getting better though. just be patient. its better that they would make a name for themselves while climbing. hardwork has always have pay off. and US as a fans, it would even better to introduce this girls to people who doesn't know them yet. CLC or any group would be nothing if people will ignore their talents no matter how cube or any companies do thier promotions. it all matters to fans you know.

I agree with what you said, CLC does really do music that will make do them more confident to shows off their talented side, either in different music genre. black dress can just mean black "clothes" or dressing up in nice clothes, often times dress is used as a term for "nice clothes" or high fashion clothes, it's like saying I'm going to dress nice, like going out to a formal party or something

The song felt a bit like a generic in your face obviously supposed to be badass song to me (I watched a lyric vid first) and im just not into it. The MV made it better though, but its still not my cup of tea. I liked Hobgoblin more! :)

Does 4Minute, 2NE1, and Black Pink ring a bell? They did badass concepts as well. So I kinda don't agree that girl groups are bound to sticking to cutesy concepts. Though I think we can say that girl groups get to make more fame and money by doing innocent girly concepts as compared to badass ones.

But the badass concept is not as much as a concept of demand for girl groups as much as cutesy these days, because idol groups are targeted mainly for the opposite sex. Male idol groups are also susceptible to certain concepts to attract the female audience.

I think it's pretty much Cube's signature of allowing their artists to experiment with their musicality. 4Minute was able to transcend to alot of different genres, like "HuH" which is a synthpop concept, to "Hot Issue" which is a girl crush concept, to "What a Girl Wants" which is a innocent girl concept, to "Mirror Mirror" which is an EDM Synthpop concept, to "Heart to Heart" which is a girl crush concept, to "Volume Up" which was a sexy classical concept, to "Crazy" and "Hate" which are both full EDM borderline Trap music. In all honesty, when I first heard Hobgoblin, I was able to imagine distinctively how 4Minute could have sang it since the two groups are almost a like in terms of musicality, concepts, and visuals.; but Black Dress really marked CLC's own music style and color. I love it! 5 out of 5!
