But how do you do a gradient background? Put a solid colour on a layer and make it a gradient from say light purple to dark purple from top to bottom

Hi Michael. There are probably a few ways to do that, but what I’d do is fill the top half of the canvas with the lightest color of purple that you’d like and the bottom half with the darkest purple. Then, use the blur tool to taste 😃

Could I then merge those layers/masks together to solidify the piece?

Yes! 😃 Or you could copy all layers and paste to a new layer if you thought you might go back and make edits at some point.

Clearly the new update changed the location of this function(specifically overlay) and I just can’t find it. Anyone know how to find blend or overlay now?

I’m not sure if we have the same version. But, for me, I can tap the N on the layer and pop open the blending options. Overlay is about midway down the list. 🙂

@@LizNess I just gasped out loud as I realized there was an N there, tapped it and saw them for the very first time! Thank you! Why I never thought that was something to press, I don’t know, but thank you! I love you!

@@PlayCodeCreate 🤗❤️ it’s a bit subtle and I totally can relate to surprise discoveries like that. I’m still finding stuff I didn’t know this tool had! 😂🤣
