    Here’s a tip. The fill threshold has acceleration when you move your Apple Pencil faster. So if you were to do it in a one quick movement to the right you can reach 100% way before reaching the edge of your iPad screen. When you move it slower, the threshold bar fills slower. And you can also reset your “position” by quickly sliding all the way left of the screen while still holding your pen to the screen and then start moving right as fast as you need. This way you can always fill the threshold from 0 to 100 in one go every time.

    Awesome video. Keep in mind the masked texture added is like erasing, so it isn't really filling with texture as it is erasing with the texture.To actually complete the fill portion, be sure to have another layer of color or the texture will be transparent like the hollowed out eyes in a Halloween mask. That is why when he added the textured mask, the texturet was always white like the background layer.

    Just FYI, if you move the pen fast when editing the color threshold you can easily go from 0 to 100% You just have to move it slightly faster.

    Can you explain how you made the circle. Started oblong and then quick shape made it even (but was still oblong). Then it looked like you put down 2 fingers and it changed to circle. Is this correct ? Is this default behavior or something that needs to be set up ? Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

  • @ghostpaper

    @ghostpaper

    4 жыл бұрын

    Either your outline is not fully closed or your color drop treshold is too high 👍 (when you drop a color onto a shape, don’t let go of the color on the canvas and you’ll see a bar at the top, that’s the treshold that you can adjust by sliding the pencil left and right on your canvas. Try watching my quick shape tutorial to understand that a bit better)

    Look up for ‘color treshold’ on Procreate, also it could also be that your shape is still slightly open when you’re trying to fill in with color

    When I use the calligraphy brush to make the circle and try to fill it the entire canvas gets filled. If I use the Studio pen I can fill the circle. Why is that?

  • @cjwalsh1617

    @cjwalsh1617

    2 жыл бұрын

    When using a porous brush the color can leak out all over the canvas like you mention. To safeguard against this, just reverse the threshold method Ghost Paper described: when dropping in your color fill, don’t lift the pencil and then drag left, reducing the threshold, until you hit the sweet spot when the color fill doesn’t leak out onto the canvas.

    What's the difference between using a layer mask over alpha lock? When adding texture or detail to the shape, I mean. Thank you! Great video, very helpful!

  • @prosebender

    @prosebender

    4 жыл бұрын

    alpha lock would be painting on the same layer of your shape, so it would be destructive because you can't easily get rid of the texture like you can with a mask
