I’m so grateful for this tutorial, I was so frustrated trying to figure out the foreground/background thing. I think there is more that could be added with this feature, specifically with layers and the timeline, but having seen this video I’m already so much more confident in it. Thank you!!

I use this and export clips and png objects into animation pro app on iPad. Works well and you can add audio from there

Outstanding and thorough introduction. Simple but incredibly useful, and with some seriously inventive THINKING about grouping layers, it’s potentially unlimited. It’s not as sophisticated as a full blown animation program, but simplicity is a beautiful thing. Procreate animations are going to be a thing, for sure! Thanks.

I am working with it now, and am wondering, is there some possible way to edit the background and foreground as the animation plays? For example, I want to animate a zoom effect while my main animation plays, or a camera movement in 3D space, so the background and foreground would have to change over the animation to give the zoom effect. Or would the background and foreground have to be static and unchanging throughout the entire animation? I hope that is clear lol. Thank you!

DooDoo JuJu although I agree that it’s very unhelpful and frustrating, you *can* use groups to group the layers and it counts it as one. Maybe in future versions they’ll have an animation studio mode as opposed to a plain onion skin setting. I’m sure they’ll clean it up in the next few updates!

DooDoo JuJu actually, you can! You can group layers together in folders to make it count as one layer, or at least that’s what I’ve heard.
