Using a refillable marker helps to alleviate issues with characters become faint over time. AusPen has, in my opinion, the best system as far as how the marker performs over the long term, and the Pilot V Board Master is a close 2nd. The only reason that the Pilot takes 2nd place is that the nibs aren't replaceable like they are in the AusPen.

I used to make a blackboard or green board back in high in the late 60s for our class project. It is made of heavy cardboard and wooden frame, paint it a small can of green flat paint. Our teacher was so happy to get a new portable board! THS70!
10 years after stacking new to old, it becomes 1 feet thick

The old technology of such boards and write on them with chalk. Nowadays modern boards are made of plastic and are written on them with markers. Although, as I noticed, with prolonged use such a board begins to show the marker and it becomes not so presentable, which cannot be said about the classic chalkboard. I always wondered what is that green chalkboard that is not on the board at 2:44 in the video it is glued to the wooden case

@queueeeee9000

With the white boards, you have to maintain it with the proper cleaner. Quite often, the maintenance workers of a school/university will use excessively harsh chemicals that wear down the coating. The type of board also matters. Tempered glass boards will never leave marks. Porcelain and even more so melamine boards can be prone to streaking and ghosting when the marker is left on for prolonged periods.
@PROProcesss

@@paulterhaar4218 I agree with you that plastic boards are also not a novelty, but for school institutions they could also be supplied Of course, interactive whiteboards are a step forward, but I think it would be financially difficult for schools to buy them in classrooms.

@@queueeeee9000 I noticed that if you leave the marker for a few days it is problematic to remove it and after you remove the inscription still appears, it is possible that this is a marker with a very resistant paint, glass chalkboards are also good in its own way but they are not installed in schools because of safety, as you can break and damage the students

in most Australian schools they've been superseded by electronic smart boards. I was one who was grateful to give away the old chalk and all it's dust.
Using drill motors instead of impact screw drivers to drive screws. It might be done this way because drill motors have less driving force and reduce stripping the screw threads. That is my guess.

I've never been in a school situation where the blackboards were made of genuine slate. Only seen it in movies. I think the labor and weight of the slate would make it expensive for large institutions (unless the school/institution was wealthy, or close to a slate source).
@FrozenHaxor

@@kenc2257 Not really, slate is always installed in smaller segments that are joined together. It's pretty much the only disadvantage of it - that you can see the vertical lines where the slates start and end.
Don't get me wrong, I'm 100% all about preserving Old World Craftsmanship & believing we need to train younger generations in the ways of keeping trades alive; blackboards are a thing of the past in schools, & they need to update to Whiteboards (or other electronic visual aids) The reason is quite simple: Health of students & teachers. I come from a background in construction and plant mechanics. Quite often in the past we had to change the way certain things were done, often for health related reasons. Blackboards create a LOT of dust. When I was attending High School back in the 1980's, my school had already started to change over to whiteboards even back then. When we asked the staff why, they simply responded that it was due to the effects of dust. Blackboards & chalk do have their place in the world, along with the trades people that preserve their heritage. I just don't thinks schools are that place anymore.

Should be outlawed. Ever since the days of Windows 3.1, there where plenty of digital boards in which students and teachers could use the stylus to do things with each other. These things just don't cut it anymore, if you want to learn nice and well, use the digital boards with the stylus.
