The need for speed!! Appears to be a right handy attachment for the lathe. Also, good for doing the internal sockets as well; cuts are fast, neat and appear to be formed by magic. 👍

Or you could have just put it your rotary attachment on you mill, made 6 or 8 cuts and you’de be done. It’s super cool but I don’t see why

For something you only make one or a small number of pieces of, you might just as well set it up in the mill. This comes in when you're doing large series, then it can save a lot of time.

Why would you want a polygon though? A hexagon ok thats useful but im confused here

A hexagon is a polygon. Polygon simply is a flat, multisided shape. As he demonstrated by changing gears, you can change the number of sides.

If you need a length of hex or otherwise stock in a given material, then you have it. My first thought was like above, fuel cap or a cap for a bung on a custom rad or reservoir...
