Blacksmithing - Making a Forged Steel Dish
Follow along as I make a forged dish out of 100x10mm steel bar stock. This is more of an art piece than a functional object, a project that popped into my brain one day. A fun process that shows how the forging can create the design elements by itself.

Thank you John! I would say the texture on the back side could work equally good! Like something taken from an old boiler or something.

Yes, riveting is riveting! Very satisfying process :)
Another project the totally pegs the "awesome" meter. Anyone would be honored to have that on display. Love the use of the glass balls at the end.
what a beautiful and elegant design. I also love the final contrast between the fragile glass and the strong and supportive steel. There's a life metaphor in it somewhere, I'm sure. Thank you for sharing your work with us master Åhman

It made me realize that the dish is probably oven-safe... Pity it probably can't hold water. And it MIGHT not be microwave-safe either.
i really enjoy those edits where you break pieces off. they are very well done

An artist at work. Not just the blacksmith work, but the video. Narrative, cutting, photo, sound. And music! Music in a TÅ video!? Who would have thought 😂

Fantastic artwork. Love the style and design details.
That ending !!! Great!
Does no one else see... He is slowly moving towards end of the world armour pieces. 😅 Great work! My kids and I enjoy watching your videos together. They see me work on cars with modern tools a lot of the time and they are amazed what you can do with a piece of metal, some fire and a hammer. You are keeping an important part of history alive! 💪

Reminds me of the park bench you did a few years back. Watched that quite a few times . Looks brilliant. Keep em coming please. 👍 👍👌
Wow…the pattern is unbelievably cool! Wow
That’s an extraordinarily beautiful piece.
Fascinating. I, for one, am glad you showed the full process for most of the fasteners. Because, unlike watching you drill the holes (which was boring), this was riveting! 😉😁
AWESOME demonstration of the Leidenfrost effect at 4:15 !! Good capture!!
Superb video. Superb craftsmanship. Excellent design sense.
Your technique for making the “tree bark” surface is clever.
What a beautiful piece of craftsmanship, amazing result .. FANTASTIC 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🙏🏻😳
Stunning work! Your creativity is beyond limits
So that's where the SALTY SPITOON gets their cutlery from!! Only the toughest of the tough dishes can get in!
0:22 Ah! It's nice to see that you've learned This Old Tony's secret steel cutting hand technique! :D
That centre punch!!! I need one of them!
It looks fantastic. Like it was made of pieces of an old ship or something. I liked the combo of machine and hammer, and the gas and coal.
I couldn't stop watching. Riveting content.
Beautiful!!! I like this style!
Very beautiful and excellent
Formidable bravo👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You constantly amaze me with what I think of as such a “crude” and rough process can produce, in the hands of an artist, such beautiful things.
Poetry in motion
You’re work is absolutely amazing keep up the great work
Absolutely gorgeous, that came out so nice

They say if you have nothing nice to say that you shouldn't say anything, so i'll try to make this criticism positive. This is the first and only thing i've ever seen you make which i don't adore. I think the exaggerated hammered texture makes this genuine, skillfully created piece of craftsmanship look like it's fake and made of plastic. it seems like something that an affluent banker or lawyer would have on their coffee table, instead of the humble, practical, wholesome, unique and beautiful pieces you have made in the past which made me fall in love with your channel. Please never fall into the trap of making things you think the algorithms will enjoy over the tens of thousands of people who love you for your uniqueness
@torbjornahman

I try different things, and also try to ignore the algorithm most of the time. When it comes to "art pieces" like this, it's all about taste, since it has no practical use. I can understand your view, and respect that. I kind of like it, although the back side could be equally nice. :)
This might look really nice with a burnt beeswax finish and brass rivets!
Blacksmithing poetry :) Great work Torbjörn ! :)
Wow! What a beautiful piece. The riveting reminds me of the Titanic era.
Beautiful Art Torbjorn!!!! I very much enjoyed your video and I gave it a Thumbs Up

A beautiful, sculptural artwork for the home - That the kids cannot break! Awesome!
These meditation videos are really good.
Nice work. Reminds me of the work by my great uncle. He did stuff like this but he often made everything much more leafy and thin.
great editing, really nice touch showing the effect of the fullering, I dont think people appreciate just how much of a difference drawing out cross peining or fullering makes to what you have in front of you or just how hot it is even with gloves on. I like your attention to detail Fantastic design, love the industrial shipwright vibe and those rivets are super precise considering they were hand hammered

Congratulations, great work! Laughing a lot about the Kort Linolea break. In fact, it has already become an icon in your videos... hahaha

Love the new danger sign!!!
I like your rivets, they are the same as you used on the frying pan you made awhile ago.🙂
