Procedural PBR in Blender - Showcase

Фильм және анимация

While the world is still in shock over Substance (Allegorithmic) joining the Adobe family, I want to take this opportunity to showcase a few of my procedural material studies made solely with Blender.
Join the Blender family!

    Simon Thommes I haven’t tried it yet so the answer might be obvious, but is there a way to remove the animation from the fire?

  • @SimonThommes

    @SimonThommes

    @@PetRatPro Yes, there is a time mod parameter that changes the animation speed. It's good that you ask because there is an error with that in the current version (it's capped to [0,1]). You have to put in a number like -10000 by *plugging in a value node*. That will divide the speed by 2^10000 (basically frozen in time) :)

    Fantastic! I personally think Blender developer's time would be very well spent adding more nodes and node functionality. Take the Substance designer atomic nodes as a reference. Blender needs more nodes! WE DON'T EVEN HAVE A BLUR NODE!

I've also used C4D for years, also replaced by Blender. I thought Blender was meh but its come so far and with the community building and adding on addons not to mention python !? we have infinite possibility!! Stoked

    Is it possible to have the scales flow using a flow map or something Not sure how it works Basically I had to do scales over a humanoid character, so I used particles with a mesh scale Quite laggy and I had to bake the AO since it looked best.

    The scales align along the y of the UVs. You're idea is possible to but not easy to implement. You can create a second UV map for the scales only for alignment.

    Hi there, I was trying to understand how one of your node setup works (Knittr, and it's crazy by the way), but one thing that was annoying was that I didn't see how you can imagine that connecting all of these nodes together can make this result. So I was wondering if you reproduced a math formula or if you pluged the nodes a little randomly until it works or if there is a real logic behind it. Your answer could really make my day.

  • @SimonThommes

    @SimonThommes

    5 жыл бұрын

    I go step by step with these setups. I start with a base pattern, which I create with logical thinking. Then I add progressively more features. Of course there sometimes is quite some trial and error but that depends on the subject. Hope that helps :)

  • @Lanaur_

    @Lanaur_

    @@SimonThommes OK thank you for the answer :D. Well I guess I just don't have a logical mind, so I will try some workarounds (mostly by hand ) and use basic tools when I will want to do this kind of things.
