    Mine is from 1997 and it runs perfectly. I trust it with my life, and I trusted it with my life in the Marine Corps 🙏🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻 sorry you had a bad model, this is genuinely the first time I've seen someone complain about it and it's sad.

    I bought this watch late last year and I thought it was great. I loved the look of it and really enjoyed wearing it. Unfortunately I had to send it back. The crown was extremely difficult to screw and unscrew. I was worried also as it was only on about three quarters of a thread. You’d unscrew it and less than one turn and it was off. I decided to have my money back instead of a replacement but I think I’m actually going to try another go at one.

    Other than the troubles I enumerated in this video, I’ve had very good luck with mine. I still think the Promaster Diver beats the pants off the SKX.

    In a way the watch has now become more personalised to you by opening it up and cleaning it. I did this last week for one of mine and like it even more now that I’ve done a bit of internal cleaning.

    Having to open a water tight watch is a big annoyance indeed. I just bought a Vostok Amphibia that runs a bit fast, but I'm not taking the back off to regulate it - I want to keep the original 200 m water resistance as guaranteed by Vostok. Too bad you bought this from overseas, with all the hassles of sending it back and having to deal with a foreigner vendor - with all the stuff you found in it, sending it back could definitely be an option. On the plus side, once cleaned up, it is a very nice watch. It is strange that Citizen has such a QC problem - I wasn't expecting that from them.

  • @SuburbanPathfinder

    @SuburbanPathfinder

    4 жыл бұрын

    I wasn’t expecting that either. My prior experience with Citizen has been the opposite really. Excellent QC. On a side note, Vostok is one brand that I don’t mind opening as much because of the “floating” case back and flat rubber gasket and separate compression ring. All in all, though, it’s certainly better to avoid any unnecessary opening. I’m actually pretty happy with the Promaster, now that I cleaned it up but I felt like I had to get that frustration off my chest.

    This is why, if I can help it, I've learned from hard experience like this to always try to buy a watch in person. Often you can't, and then it's a gamble. For example, in buying a Japanese Domestic Model Citizen PMD56 Promaster Land direct from Japan. It's a gamble that it will not have a defect.

    On watches issued with a ISO 6425, every watch needs to be checked, not just a sample version. This is what I've read diving in deep into the ISO 6525 requirements. Omega, Tag, Rolex aren't ISO compliant, they go on brand reputation and yes, they also check every watch on their own requirements before leaving the factory.
