Nothing better than coffee with Kleeman. Just did brakes on 2008 Kia Rio. My video would not have been PG. Stay safe
Good morning man, sounds good for lunch, door can open, truck can stop, jack fixed, All's right with the world, Thanks Mike
Sway bar links with new bushings are pretty cheap. Helps handling a lot.
New brakes, working door latch, meat in the smoker, seat in 555.... you sir, have it all! 😊
Loved the Saturday morning surprise!
When you have a pad noise try grinding the leading edge of the pad and buff the pad surface with a sander. Clean the rotor with a disc sander. That often gets rid of the noise.
I just replaced the lifters and alternator in my son's car today. It always fun replacing car parts. NOT! Rebuilt the engine and the brand-new lifters I installed, 4 of them were seized up and I get to replace them now inside the car. I would rather replace brakes! keep pushing Mike.
great Video Mike, now that the brakes are silent you're probably going to start hearing all kinds of noise 🤣, hope you give us more on this channel 👍👍👍👍👍😊
Always love your videos. This is the first time I've noticed the view you have from your repair area. Being in the middle of beautiful farm ground I am a bit jealous.
There’s a bolt on the bottom of that fender, then pull out on it. That will fix your door scrubbing. 👍🏻👍🏻
Hi Mike. Back before KZread, the only way you could find out how things went together was to take it apart and pay attention. Handy being able to open the door from the outside. Especially since it was the driver's door! The brake squeal could have come from dust between the pads and rotors, but they would usually either clean themselves up, so the noise stops or still be noisy when you lift the wheel up to check. Maybe it was speed related. I saw you try, but you couldn't quite get the wheel to spin at highway speed!
How much talent can one man have?
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. I used to be really good at changing the door handles on my sisters 1974 gremlin X. Looked to be about the same configuration. They used to say AMC was just an off brand of Ford. Doesn’t surprise me much that it’s basically still the same, only difference I saw was the latch handle is now made out of plastic rather than a cheap pot metal casting, still broke in the same location on the part. 😂 Wishing you and your family the best.
I think you should do some coffee mugs for all of us " coffee with Kleeman-ers" thanks for the morning motivation Mike!
Enjoy your video's a lot. If it helps, I know from my own personal experience your door will stop catching if you pop the dent out, I noticed on the door close to it. Your way works too. Have a great day.
Awesome! Now I know what to do. Thank you for sharing 👌 😊
The squeal was likely vibration between the pad and the caliper. I like to put grease on the back of the pads where it contacts the pistons and caliper to combat this.
Hey Mike, if you put a bit of oil on your battery terminal it will dissolve that green stuff and clean it. Just saying!
Thanks Mike, Master Mechanic! Always enjoy your videos. 😊
Mike, while you clamped those calipers with new pads it reminded me of a big oops that I did years ago. As I compressed the caliper the fluid fed back to the Retrovir and overflowed it. I was unaware and after a few weeks I saw the paint sludge on the garage floor, then I had a rust issue developing.
The amount of sArCaSaM is perfect. It’s possible it was a little pebble stuck between the rotor and the dust shield like I found on my brother Subaru but with the amazing roads you have there that’s not likely. 😉
Ooohhhh boy, that "jack oil" comment made a feller ponder for a moment!!! #familyfriendly
Hi Mike & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Mike & Friends Randy
I'm glad you have breaks on your Ranger. And you have a great 4th weekend with the family Mike.
Well that was a quick fix Mike👍🍮😎
Jack oil lol that's a good one!
If it squeals when making a turn, it's usually a wheel bearing!
Mike your battery terminals need to be cleaned, as that provides a high resistance path to earth which can cause starting problems. What I used to do to clean the terminals was pour kettle hot water over them and the follow up with hosepipe to wash off residue. I don't just mean a quick squirt either, I mean wash it like a jet wash for 30 sec's. Then cover with vaseline jelly. That will protect the terminals, make sure your terminals are tight on battery too! I see too many KZreadrs who have to twist battery terminals to get good contact. If they did the terminals tight in the first place that wouldn't happen. And I don't care if it is just to cause comments!!!!!!!!!!
a smear of grease or anti seize on the back of pads can stop squiling as well
You don't know how lucky you are not living in a place they spread salt on the roads for 4 months of the year, makes changing brakes a nightmare at time
Comment for the algorithm gods. Squeal can be something as innocuous as a bit of extra brakedust, Mike. Or maybe a trapped piglet. Your mileage may vary.
A little grease on the tabs should stop the squeak
Hi Cap when you had the door panel off you could of popped the door out, think of my OCD when planning these projects 😂🤣
😂😂😂😂 I wonder if I’m the only one that got that jack oil comment especially the paws I started cracking up immediately. You’re a funny, dude captain
8:00 mark....."Some people might consider that art work" 🤣😂😆😁😊
I bought an 01 Ranger from my brother for cheap some years ago. I quit driving it 2 years ago this fall because the frame is rusted out and the trailer hitch bent way down. It has a 3 liter V6, auto OD 4x4 and the heater and AC both worked. It's still sitting out back, and has sagged in the middle some since I parked it. I could have sent you a door handle 😁
Cap’n you’re an artist! The proof is right there under the hood. I’ve attempted to produce contemporary art pieces with DC electrolysis all of my life… and, I must admit I thought I’d put out some stellar examples. But, I have to bow down in awe, to your masterpiece!!! Thanx for the chuckles, bud.
Good morning sunshine! It's the "It's fine, everything's fine!" That I love hearing! Much love from Henderson Ga USA
I like the truck, keep it running, it will be a good little grocery getter/ parts chaser for the homestead. Thanks for the update, enjoyed watching.
I have a 2000 Ranger 4x4 Off-Road that's all original with 280,000 miles on it. I have the same handle problem, only on the tailgate. Since I'm now an old guy I don't use the tailgate much so why bother? I still love the truck
Had a squeal like that once that would go away if going backwards. Turned out it was a pebble stuck in the caliper bracket that was rubbing on the edge of the rotor. Thanks for the extra vid this week Captain
Now I had you figured to be a Bo Duke kind of fella and just hop right on through that window. 😂. I bet your brake squeal was the pad getting hard from heat and age.
Nice shop upgrade from the shade tree -- and it comes with a million dollar view!
Good morning Mike
oh my goodness we are just getting so far into luxury here lately! I mean really power windows aaaand not climbing through the window at walmart??
Another great video and who uses blinkers now days anyways just hook the horn to the break and they will just get out of your way no need for that blinkers then
The smoothly worn surfaces of the pads and rotor are a common cause for the squealing. If a person is trying to get every bit of life out of those pads, a light scuffing with a sanding disc can get you to the end of the life of those pads and some emory cloth on the rotors will cut the shiny glaze.😉 The sometimes stop seems more like an option than a real need there bud.😂🤙
Aye, the alternate Kleeman universe. It'll make a nice homestead truck.....a little something something you can run errands for the Admiral in.
You are always so lucky. I have to make 3 different trips to the parts store because they gave me the wrong parts and I just take their word for it without looking at them before leaving the store. Everything went ok for you. I usually have frozen calipers that won’t retract enough to get the new pads on or something else goes wrong. That’s why I always plan for it to take a full day to do something that should take 30 minutes to do.🐶
Hello Mike. I use a C clamp when I replace my pads, you may have misplaced yours. You did not say or show, but did you check the brake master cylinder when you were twisting on the clamp? Sometimes stuff flows uphill. Have good days!
Oh boy more fun. Lookin good thanks for sharing 😅
LOL, safety seconds! 😸
I know you don't care about the body but for less than ten bucks you can pick up a dent puller from Harbor Freight. It would pull those dents no problem.
Captain Kleeman, those handles normally break because of somebody trying to snatch the door open .😮😮😮😮😊
Lol and hello mike! Nice job on the lil red thier!

Oh yeah mike, you do know that the ford ranger and the mazda trucks share parts
Deer damage ….yep, that can make a guy say “oh well”.
Captain another interesting video! Thanks for sharing! Kevin
hey its alot easier when you release the cap on the master cylinder then the pressure will be released. fyl

It was off. Hints the brake fluid running down the frame rail lol
I only use Google and KZread when I'm stuck lol 😂 just take it apart ask questions later 🤣 it's the reverse how u did it but like how did I 😆
Nice 😎😎😎👍👍👍
I believe if you spray some water with baking soda from a spray bottle, that will clean that oxidation from your battery terminal.
That’s fine…
Open your door put a prybar in between door and finder close door gradually it will bring your finder out
Passenger side riveted Is factory original. Drivers side being bolted is a prior replacement, so yeah those do get a lot more use and break more often. Is the passenger side painted to the body color? I had a 98 that color and the originals were painted but when the dealer replaced both side handles under warranty, they did not paint the black plastic and stated that the factory wanted it that way because the paint caused the plastic to fail. I call BS and they just wanted to save labor and materials on painting but I did not care since they did both under warranty when I was actually a couple hundred miles over the mileage,

PS that Ranger was mine for a hundred thousand, then my daughters for several more years, then passed on to my son for about 8 years, and then my grandson for a couple of years. Got back to my son when grandson wanted better and finally was sitting in his driveway when a drunk drove across his front yard and plowed into the Ranger and a 3/4 ton Chevy pickup and totaled them both. I bought that thing for 12k brand new and it was on the road for 22 years and 200k miles. Best value for money I ever spent. Never left the family. Now that is a truck. Not sure how much my son got back from the drunk guys insurance company but knock that off the 12k and even better deal.
👍
Did not know you also have MBTS (1:30-2:20)... lol
did the jack come from harbor freight
👌👍
Whatever happened to the dump truck rebuild

Nothing wrong with a basic no frills ride.
You should polish those headlight covers with toothpaste.
Metallic pads will squeal
If you didn't leave yer junk out in the field, about half yer time could be recovered from fixin the busted stuff. Just the thoughts of an ex rocket scientist.
😛😛😛😛😛😛❤❤❤❤👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
The moral of the story is DON'T BUY JUNK . LET IT GO TO THE CRUSHER AND BE RECYCLED TO A NEW FORD
Hey Mike, just saw you working on a door issue and made me think of something that Kevin Tetz addressed in one of his vid-joes (found him from VGG) : kzread.info/dash/bejne/lqWLsqqzedK-k8o.html
Yeah, you probably don't use enough oil on your brakes. Wait, I shouldn't have said that. Someone may actually do it. DON'T DO IT PEOPLE!!!
Why would somebody look on KZread to figure out how to do something. The guy probably doesn't know what he's talking about anyways right? And yes those are called squealers. I think I've only had a squealer hit a rotor once in my life. That's sway bar link it's fine. Ain't making clunky bang sounds yet It's good. Before somebody corrects me anti-sway bar sorry. Okay I stopped the video and you were looking at the door and the fender coming together. I was raised in a body shop. Do not use a pry bar I know you're going to. I stopped the video I'm crying right now. That doesn't fix the problem The problem is the fender is shoved back. Listen some bolts pull it forward. I know this is senseless by now you've already done the wrong thing like every other person has done when the door rubs the fender😢 A little trucks 24 years old It deserves more than what you've done I know you don't care. You don't like fancy trucks. You're hard on things. And you're okay with that. How about if I said you deserve more than a car that's just okay. Would that make you want to do something nicer? Just remember not giving you a hard time I was paid to fix things like this for a very long time. The little truck deserves more even though it's a Ford Just don't tell it it's a Ford okay.
