What are the boxes called?
Organization is an acquired skill. We’re not born with it but experience has taught me it’s the best method to successfully accomplishing one’s goals. If one isn’t organized, life in general will be very frustrating and depressing. Mike, I think you’ll be much more confident by getting better organized. Love ALL of your videos on both of your uTube channels.
I’m definitely going to keep my wife from seeing this one…. I’ve spent decades convincing her that the mess in my shop is efficient and intuitive to work out of. That’s why I watched it in the shop… with the doors locked!

@sassafrasvalley1939 Help yourself Sir ! 😁
Well done, great job, hope you can find things now. Every time I tidy up I can’t find anything 😅
Excellent as always Mike 👍🇺🇸🇬🇧
I really hope that cordless circular saw at your feet has a home!🤣
That is a great job Mike. I wonder how long it will stay like that. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I'm heading out to the barn this morning to start my clean up/organizing too. Thanks for the motivation to get'er done!
The only item that hasn't been solved yet for organizing is the random bucket of nuts and bolts and what not. I keep on having the conversation with a buddy of mine about the best way of dealing with it.
Just love your humor, you are one of a kind.
I somehow fell out of seeing your videos. After watching this one, I remember how entertaining and funny you are. Thanks.
Great job Captain Kleeman
Hi Mike. Thanks for the laughs, and the barn look better! Hope works been slow! And you and the family have a great weekend.
The same here in Germany Captain!!!! The mess in the workshop is a sign that there are hardworking people working there lol.
Sort, Straighten, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain. Hate to say it but good old 5S is the way to go. I’m sure you have that at the fire house too. 👍🇺🇸
Inexpensive products that help you create usable space, sounds like good value to me.🤙
you need some drawers. there's some i think on amazon, its metal, painted grey and there's about 10 drawers. i use to be the tool room attendant at the fabrication shop at a power plant and we had lots of those drawers. retired and purchased some for garage to store hubby's welding stuff in. drill bits, pens/pencils/ soap stones, grinding wheels, grinding brushes, utility knives, brushes, etc. not that expensive. also you need a place to hang your welding leads and or torch hoses. looks good so far.
Looking good..... imagine if there wasn't ba Fubaru in the middle of the barn😂😂😂
Bravo Captain!
my OCD keeps me tidy just run out of room. nice job captain. cheers.
truck truck truck truck before winter
place for everything and everything in its place, gotta love it, saves time in the long run sir. If your interested I would be happy to send you pics of what I have done to organize my shop as I used to be in your situation and it turned out great, now I wonder how I ever got anything done before, and I made every organizer out of scrap materials. Bottom line, I had to discipline myself to make it work. Great job sir, thanks for the video.
There’s NOBODY that watches this channel that isn’t fighting the same battle. Good on ya for taking it head-on once in a while, it helps the rest of us take a closer look at what we might be doing to make it better. Thanks for sharing!
My Dad got glass jars with metal lids & screwed the lids to the under side of a shelf then put screws, nuts & bolts in the jars & fixed them up under the shelf 👍👍🇬🇧🇬🇧

A lot of old timers did the jar sorting system. Baby food jars to pickle jars. My dad took coffee cans, wrapped them with wood grain contact paper and stacked them.
Yes sir you’ve made more space. Now you can get more stuff to put in the space you just made. That’s what I always wind up doing.
Don't know if you have them in your area but I got several small plastic divided organizers from dollar tree. Perfect for small screws, nut's, washers and the like. Also used a divided tacklebox and set it up as a automotive electrical box. Soldering iron, solder, connectors, fuses it's great. 5 gallon buckets laid on their side with some wood to hold them up make perfect floor up divided storage as well as empty plastic caulk tubes or small sections of scrap pvc pipe. Perfect for zip ties and the like. Best of all I got the 5 gallon buckets from work free after they were done with the soap or floor products that were in them. Caulk tubes same thing. Already had to buy the caulk for something and just repurposed the tube after use.
If u get a roll of sticky white labels u can keep re labeling card organisers if in still good condition what we did in our car parts ware house where i use to work
Well Mike, you know my thoughts on this organization stuff. Lol A place for everything and everything in its place.

Your crazy. 😂. Love watching ya.
I can't believe you don't have a board stretcher, essential bit of kit! ;)
Looks great Captain K
Very good organization of your STUFF in your shop . Great video CAPTAIN .
Looking real nice. Stay safe
Hi Mike, Great vid, being ex military I love organisation, you’ve done great there, just don’t let the missus touch anything or you will never find anything you need again!! Jerry..UK

Clean up looks good 😊
Hi Captain, As you know, a few others have mess issues. Several years ago, I set up shelves for the various plastic boxes that tool sets come with. At first it was great for seldom used tools..and then used only once tools..and finally combo sets received as gifts. I now have about 7 feet of them. When I want a tool, I generally look through about 75% of the plastic boxes to find it! So my advice is to label each box on the visible end and not try to remember...😮😮😅😋
I used to work with old men, Who all said put it back where you got it from and always know where it at.

Worked for years at Snap-on teaching workplace organization. Definitely headed in the right direction. Sort, Set, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain (5S approach)

I taught 5-S for nearly 30 years in factories. We added ‘Safety’ as 5S+1… but, I think the Cap’n has that covered… sometimes. 🤓
We're birds of a feather! When I'm done working on a project, it looks like a bomb went off in the shop. Then I spend a whole day putting stuff away. I keep saying I'm going to put it away as I use it, but I never do. My other big pet peeve - against myself - not putting it back where it belongs, then invariably the day I desperately need it, I can't find it. Maddening. Simply maddening! Great video! Thanks Mike! Oooh, gettin real fancy now!🤣👋🇬🇧
nice setup,i noticed that in your tool box you put your tools sitting on the metal , what i did in my tool box i bought some felt materials that i got cheap at the arts and crafts store and glued it to the bottom of the drawers the felt absorbs moisture in the air and prevents your tools from rusting, and my dad had a metal storage rack similar to yours and he kept different metals in different bins and marked them steel, stainless steel, aluminum and so on that way your only going trough 1 bin looking for the right material.great video 👏👏👏👏👏👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👍
I’ve been collecting tools for about 75 years. Every now and again, one has to reorganize. My one lesson? Make sure that come winter your shop has heat and a TV. Add a comfortable chair and by winters end, your shop will be perfect. A toasty shop is a great place to spend winter days.

Thats it, I need a board stretcher. Get those at Lowes do ya?
A little organization goes a long way.Looks good in there. Those 2×4 shelves are taking up a ton of room in there
I think those were all great ideas. I’ll have to check out temu
Love the organization. Something I learned is as time goes by your organization will change base on needs etc.. So it is always a work in progress... =).
So the solution to having too much stuff is to buy more stuff. 🤔🤔 I like it.

Exactly
I have the same situation. I need to learn how to say No, I don't need it. even thou I just might Someday.
Those plastic cases that tools come in I use an old filing cabinet to store them
Great video and awesome ideas ❤❤
Awesome job 👏 I need to do the same thing in my garage!😊 Thank you for sharing this video!
Thanks for the video. I will definitely check out Temu.
Great video! my workshop is a Hug mess, even though i have tried organizing it many times. i Love ordering from Temu. this Awesome video has given me So Many ideas to organize my workshop so i can find my tools, schools, nails, ect. when i need them.that and i can have room to move around and build/fix stuff in. the black hose straps would work Great to hold my long electric extention cords. i Love watching your videos! :)
Seems like I have to do this a couple times a year, good 💡ideas!
Mike one suggestion take a sharpie or paint marker and on the plastic storage boxes above your toolbox write what they are. Will save you time hunting down the correct kit
Great video. Hooks and shelves are the answer for a shop. I love those cardboard storage catch-all things. I may need to get some of them. As for Temu, I love that site. I've been ordering a lot from them for a few months now. They do have good prices.
I like everything except that shelf. 9:00. I would have put pegboard there with 1x3 stiffeners on back. There are all sort of accessories for that.
Nice
You and your never ending projects.good little video.just keep doing what your doing 👍👍👍😎😎😎
Great video. I chuckled when you picked out a part in the red bin for the saw. It was in the bottom bin and you put it back in the top bin. I thought well that works for me! I am constantly loosing( miss placing items).
I feel you. I clean my shop areas all the time and turn back to a disorganized Kaos but if you ask me where a tool or item is a can tell you where it is within a few inches so it is hard to clean a disorganized shop because I can't find it later
There's reports of Temu selling your bank details on btw. It's just what i've read and heard lately, so please be careful and watch for any thefts from your account. Just a heads up bud.
hello mkie it's is randy and i like yours video thanks friends randy 😎😎😎😎😎😎
Hi Mike. Over the years I have sort of accepted the fact that I am a pack rat and don't places to put all the useful items I've come into possession of. You know, all good stuff that can be used for something important some day. I have a workbench that is around 6'x3' and there's nearly a whole square foot that I can actually work at, so I can relate to your workbench situation. You have some good ideas. A friend just told me about Temu this week. I was wondering how their shipping is. Been a little disappointed with Amazon delaying some orders recently. If they say they can get it to you the next or in two days, they really should stick to that. Anyway, your stuff is looking better already. Thanks for the tips! -mike
Get a label maker an label all the hard cases so it is easy to look and see what is in each box. Filing cabinets are good for storage and can be had for free often.

Looks great Mike, it’s nice to have a neat shop, lord knows I got to do the same thing for mine
👍👍👍
Hmmm...could have been in my garage..😂
Thanks for the video. Give me some good ideas to help with getting started on my cleanup and organizing.
You have inspired me to work on my own organization.
👍
Nice job! By the time I finish a project I’ll have the ubiquitous pile of tools and too tired to put away. Needless to say the mess continues!

Lol very true
My "shop" is 2.5 bays and had a couple paths to get thru this spring. I've been cleaning and organizing for half a year now and can actually get a few small odd jobs done without tripping over junk, or having to spend an hour finding a flat surface to work off of. Maybe by next spring, I'll be able to get back to my restoration project on my Dad's old Allis tractor?
Don’t you always feel really proud of yourself when you finally get around to organizing? I know I do. 😂
🤠
your back!!!!!!!!!
Yes lets goo mike
Thanks for sharing your thoughts, ideas and videos. Cleanup looks good. Not sure about using Temu, I’ve heard it’s shipping is highly subsidized by US tax dollars and is nearing criminal practices, but I have no other evidence other than a video I watched once. So I guess let your own needs and opinions be your guide. I’ve certainly been tempted but since spending extra cash right now isn’t in my best interest I’ve sided on staying away. 😂 Watched a video with an interesting idea the other day, guy took an old reciprocating saw blade and welded a hose clamp half way up it so he could tighten it around a paint spray can and use his saw to shake the cab. Just be careful about the can clearance when the saw retracts. Wishing you and your family the best.
Lol every time I run out of room I add on to my shop! Your way is probably cheaper! Lol
Some recycled paving stones make good bookends for the shelf. Also chunks of Indiana limestone!
Great video Mike, I am the most organized and unorganized person. Just can’t seem to get it together. But still loved this video. I use Temo and Vevor also. Great job !
You know what I always say never measure cut 3 times lol
Organisation eh ??? 😮 And I thought organised choas worked for you !!! 😂 It works for me, I know where everything is in my shed, until I can't find something....... 🤔🤷♂️🤦♂️ So I added another shelf and promptly filled it 😂
I did enjoy the video but I am a bit disappointed with the purchase / promotion of TEMU. It is a Chinesium Outlet. As a local businessman, I would think these things would cross your mind.
Another great vid! Where did you find the storage/organizer boxes? Thanks for what you do! BTW, I really liked your moment of silence with your videos on Monday. Very nice!
How about making a book end for the random tool boxes. This way you don’t have to keep putting in wood blocks. You could also use piece of scrap metal.
micrometer and calipers for your welding stuff
Were did you get your Corrugated Cardboard Storage Bins? All I have found is single size with quantity of 50. I would like an assortment pack.

Michael if you clean up and organize that mess it will take you hours to find where you put stuff. Might as well leave it as it is because once it’s organized it won’t take long before it’s a mess again. 😂
Will definitely be taking a look at Temu, it looks interesting. You barn is so much clearer. 👍
Nice, now head over to D.P.'s place.😅
You’re going to hate yourself for installing that decompression valve!!
You couls also use duct tape to re-label those organizer boxes!!
You inspired us to do the same.
Peg board.
I use Temu all the time, love it. Thank you for the bonus video! Can't wait til Monday. Have a great day!
