    You need a preamp the sound can be twice as good

  • @vitalie787

    That's a really good turntable....but ...That turntable ($1000+ ) needs to be hooked up to at least $2000-$3000 worth of ( amplifier + phono preamplifier + speakers) to actually hear the beauty of vinyl 😀 Playing vinyl on that turntable with those speakers with a built-in amplifier is like using jet fuel in a 1996 Toyota Corolla.

    Agreed. Placement, size, amplification. This was overkill. A Debut at half the cost would have been fine. I new a guy that had a 500 denon home theater receiver and small infinity speaker set that bought a Rega P6. I said Tim you spent more on the turntable than the cost of all other components. Who knows. Maybe he’s going to upgrade it all..soon

    Not true! Yea you need a better table granted, but to suggest that you need a 2000 + amp and pre amp is the thought of an 1980s collector. Today’s market offer much higher quality than 20 years ago for a fraction of the cost. But you definitely need to upgrade your system cause you’ve spent that money for no reason at this point. Do it once do it right creat a solid base of equipment that you can up grade over the years or not.

    Hi: are those The Fives? Are you using a preamp or direct from the turntable to the speakers?

  • @joshtsau

    @joshtsau

    2 жыл бұрын

    Yes! Klipsch the fives which have a built in phono preamp so direct from TT to speakers. May decide to add one later in the future but I like this is a more minimalist setup

    @@joshtsauok, i see. Did you talk to anyone about your associates gear before this purchase. You won’t hear any more of a benefit with the Project x1 to the fives than had you bought a Project Debut. 4-500. You’re going to need to upgrade everything to get what you paid for. A entry level turntable would have done fine with this setup. Ive got about 8k in my associated gear and am just now considering the X1.

    Just a little critique. Other than getting a stand and if that is your setup, ie, speakers, etc. This was probably a little overkill on the turntable purchase, unless you plan on a system upgrade very soon. The debut carbon at half the cost would have given you the same results given your speakers and placement of speakers. Great turntable.

    I'm glad you put the platter mat onto the platter! It protects the record and dampens resonances and minimizes other vibrations caused between the platter surface and other parts of the turntable! There are many kinds of platter mats. I've read that more expensive ones can really improve the sound. But I've always just stayed with what came with the turntable. I would be like yikes when it comes to the belts! I've always have had direct drive technics. Looks like a nice table. Carbon fiber tone arms are supposed to be really 👍great!! Congrats!! Now just need to get the project onto a more stable location! I bought a big TV stand with 3 shelves to put my stuff on. Simon and Garfunkel!! EXCELLENT taste in music!!

    The ProJect X1 comes with an acrylic platter, which technically can be used w/o a mat. Supposedly matches resonances with the vinyl given its made of the same material.

  • @SheepNizzle

    @SheepNizzle

    This is incorrect information. Pro-Ject themselves say that with the acrylic platter you should not use a mat. They said the only reason they include it is so people don't complain basically. Look for the Pro-Ject X2 video with Heinz Lichtenegger that explains this.

    What do people HEAR in vinyl? I bought this table last year and I get better sound off spotify. If it's " warmth" people are after gimmie cold. More clarity, detail and dynamics! Not muffly distorted dull records. There! I said it. I wasted a thousand bucks for inferior sound.
