pes 4 was my first ever football game when i lived in france and had my ps2 there and i enjoyed it so much. i then moved to the USA but lost the disc for pes and didn’t realize till we had already settled in and unpacked our stuff. i still had the box and would look at it every day just wishing i had pes 4 when i was playing the new pes and fifa games at the time like (2008 and 09) on ps2. one day i decided to go to the game store and stumbled upon winning eleven 7 (USA version of pes 3, not 4) and when i asked one of the store workers what year the game was for he said 2004, so i was delighted, thinking i had finally gotten pes 4 back after all these years. I went home and turned on the game for the first time, and to my disappointment the intro broke the news that i was not playing my beloved pes 4, but an even older version. i wasn’t discouraged though, and gave the game a fair go, and to my astonishment, it was so much better than i could have imagined. i spent hours upon hours playing this game, it’s easily my most played football game in my childhood. even well after having gotten a ps3 and having a blast on the last few great fifas (11,12,13) i still could never resist breaking out the old ps2 to play some pes 3. I was around 7 or 8 when i first got the game, so at the time i didn’t understand master league and never played it hahah! i literally would just play exhibition matches against the cpu or friends or try to win the cups with my favorite team barcelona or catalonia as they were called 😂😂 and the national cup with my dads home country of cameroon as well. i recently just found my old ps2 and will definitely be breaking this game back out, and will look to buy pes 4 and 5 as well to relive my childhood memories with pes 4 and finally try one of the best games ever with pes 5! amazing video and thanks for allowing me to relive my childhood!!

Played this over lock down last year and been playing again the past few weeks. 100% my favourite football games. Simple yet fantastic.

This game will always be my favourite and in my opinion it's the best football game ever made.

There are a lot of reasons which all come together to make Pes 3 one of the best football games ever, if not the best football game. But, one thing that I love about this game, (and it's just a cosmetic thing, I suppose) is the way the players side-foot the ball when they're making a pass.

Loved the video! Played every PES - 3 was the best hands down. The thing that ruins current football games is “dynamic difficulty”. The way the game changes when you’re winning and losing to try and emulate real life - really frustrating and makes you feel out of control. PES 3 was one of the last games that didn’t seem to do this. Great AI, perfect pacing, and amazing physics for the time!

I saw your post on Reddit and watched the video afterwards. I really enjoyed the video. A nice conversation about a football game, reflecting on things from the past by comparing it with todays football games. I hope there will be more content like this with other PES games or football games in general. You can even do it longer if you have enough topics (like an hour podcast or something).

For me personally pes 5 was slightly better. Days of great football games are long gone i reckon. Great video guys. You should do one on pes 5 and pes 13 which was fairly decent too 👍🏾

I’ve recently discovered the channel and love the retro videos. PES 3 was my favourite version too. Can I ask a very newbie question? How do you emulate a game/what emulator is best in order to get PES 3 to work on a PC? And, what is the process? Is there a link you could post to help me as I would love to get back into playing the game.

Totally agree with the "golden age" comments. Still waiting for Konami (or EA sports for that matter) to make a game better than PES 4.

the only thing that takes away from my experience with PES3 is the referee only appearing in the cutscenes. i didn't mind it much on the PS1, but on the PS2 i feel that undercuts the realism of the game (especially when you remember there's a referee on the cover...). that aside, this was an excellent chapter in the history of PES, i feel 2 through 6 was the golden age.

I liked all pes, from 2 till 6. We played them all and we had the most fun with 6, because everybody got good at it, so it was fun playing 2 vs 2 and even 3 vs 3. It was great. I liked 4 and 6 because they where more attacking i guess and I am good at defending and tackling. I have to say i enjoyed fifa 20 playing seasons and now i am playing for the first time fut in fifa 21 and i like it too. You can play fut now coop. But i have to say, you need to put in the time for it and the game is changing so much with updates. I think now it is good for me and i am learning to play my tiki taka 433 against people who counter all the time. It is fun! Ps: can i be in the next footy video? 😁😉
