I'm about to start training again and i felt like you were talking about my life, i started flying when I was 17 then stopped and started again in the 90's and stopped again until last year that I said to myself I was going to finish it. Last year I did a ground course online and took my FFA and got an 83. Got my medical certificate and then covid19 started so I waited till now and finally I found a good independent instructor and we are about to start.

I did a solo to Orlando Apopka. Only things about the field is it was hard to spot if you're familiar. It's almost parallel with the road. I am ready for my check ride, thanks for some tips and Congrats!

I did my trainings and checkride in a similar area (not at but close enough for student cross country to leesburg and Apopka) and also had an examiner who keeps saying “fair enough”. Did I had the same examiner as you??? That would be cool haha But congratulations, I know it’s one year later but this video got me so happy haha.

congratulation! my checkride is next friday. i also like to come in faster on my landings!

Hey man, I'm just about to go for my PPL checkride in April, and this video was really helpful as a "what to expect" scenario. Obviously every checkride will be different but i really appreciated this insight.

Almost same story regarding getting my PPL. Been off and on for 36 years. Buckled down last Nov and my check ride is on Monday, weather cancelled it once already but studying all weekend and getting ready. I stumbled on your video and it was helpful, thanks!! Congrats!! And thank you so much for the confidence boost. Have my checkride next Tuesday, and my instructor's only advice was "relax". For me, a difficult task. Lol.

@@fitz4adventures hahah…. You painted an awesome pic of what to expect. I’ve done all my training in a 182T with retractable gear. It’s a LOT of plane for a 63 year old beginner. I was scheduled for my checkride last Friday and instructor didn’t think I was quite ready - struggling with my strep turns - so it was cancelled. Cancelling knocked me off my feet a little so I’m trying to get my head back in the game and your story was inspiring.

congratulations! I'm getting close to taking my written and then moving into my checkride hopefully soon after. Could you share the laminated brief you had for the flight portion?

Hi I’m just about to start check ride prep, passed my written with a 88%. I’m curious as to how you studied the oral part of the exam? I’ve been told from my flight instructor to just read over the oral exam guide by Michael d Hayes. It’s super broad and I wondered if there was a better option to studying. Thanks!

I sure did, but of course know how to work the GPS if you have one, and use the VOR.

They let you use fore flight? I thought they made you use paper charts and a navigation log.

Yep, no problem at all. I had paper charts ready to go, but he never even asked to see them.

Did he clear the areas or did you? Were you in the same general area? I'm only really worried about getting hung up on some procedural BS.

In my log book around 50, BUT I had lost a log book that started in 1994 that had 72. Just consider that as experience from the past.

You get to use GPS on the diversion?? 😭 for us we have to follow out navlog with the MFD turned off, and then he'll get you lost somewhere then he'll say "Ok, we're lost what are you gonna do". Divert ofc WITHOUT GPS 😭 we have to use foreflight, VOR, and pilotage.
