let's not even think about the fact that canonically, a human gave birth to a porcupine

  • @jaxjaxattaxx

Fun fact, Bojack’s creators are well informed when it comes to animal biology-porcupine needles are extremely soft when the babies are first born and harden after birth, to the point where most porcupine mothers don’t even feel it. So it actually makes sense a human could give birth to a porcupine without pain from the spines. Now…the CONCEPTION? Thats where my questions are.

So I looked it up, and it turns out porcupine babies (or porcupettes as they’re apparently called) are born with soft quills which are bendable and really not sharp at all. Once they’ve been out in the world for a bit, they harden.

I'd like to think it does too just that that particular ruthie isn't necessarily a cat heck that ruthie could probably even be a human as I like to think that Judah and princess Caroline adopt a human older brother for ruthie to look after her when the two of them are busy who they also shower with love giving their new son his ideal family

I got into BoJack in my thirties, and Princess Carolyn is easily one of the most believable, relatable, and realistic characters I’ve ever seen. Especially now that I’m 35, no kids, and an influencer w/a high profile career, and am marrying my lifepartner (after a lifetime of abusive relationships). Being 35 w/no children (and especially a Black woman with no children at this age) will have everyone and their mothers asking about why I don’t have children yet. Men (esp Black men) will think there’s something “wrong” with you if you’re not a mom by your twenties, or focus on your career. They’ll call you “masculine” and “lonely” because you don’t fit their standard of what a “woman” should be- a breeding ground meant to keep her man happy. For shame she should focus on herself. But very much like Princess Carolyn, I want children-especially after suffering a miscarriage in my twenties, and now that I’m trying to get pregnant on purpose, it’s such a fear that it’ll be exactly what she had to go thru. I feel it SO hard when she says “my body was MADE” for this because like PC, the women in my family are clearly fertile af. So it made me even more depressed that I’d miscarried when everyone in my family had such easy pregnancies. At the same time, Princess Carolyn got her happy ending-the best character development, Judah, Ruthie, and a successful business and life. And that’s what gives me the courage to live a happy life with my lifepartner and any children we may have, whether natural, adopted, or furbabies. As a therapist, especially one that works with couples, I reference Princess Carolyn & Judah’s relationship often. Amazing video, Kitty. PC would be proud. ❤

One of my favorite Princess Carolyn moments was when PC and Venessa Gekko are having a deep, meaningful conversation and PC says something like “and to think all these years we were rival” and Venessa is just like “I never thought you were my rival?” I love the twist of it turning out that PC’s rivalry with Venessa, the one that had been built up for years, was one sided and always had been

I really like the moment in theory, but it does feel a little retconn-y? Like, she was constantly doing little backstabbing, underhanded things to PC. Which means either this is a retcon, or Vanessa just *is* backstabbing and underhanded as a person, to everyone. Even if the rivalry was one sided, Vanessa is still kinda a crappy person, and I can fully understand why PC thought she hated her

@alexanderdeval5561 The other possibility is that Vanessa is like that with everyone, and we just see it with PC cause we follow her story. It doesn't mean her actions aren't cruel or vindicate her, but it may not be as personal as PC was making it. Also keep in mind that PC herself isn't innocent. She's done some shady and backstabbing things herself.

I wanted to add something in regards to how Ralph reacted insensitively to PCs last miscarriage. like any loss, you may or may not move past it and certainly NOT the same day, and typically all someone wants or needs is to be listened to and supported. No one would say "i know its hard our baby died of SIDs, but we can try again or adopt" because it's cruel, and its no different saying that about a child you imagined a life for, and felt so excited to love just because they never made it to birth.

Princess Carolyn is indeed an icon, Out of all the female characters in the Bojack series she's rolemodel material because PC has proven that she is a very capable, Reliable and dedicated woman! And a woman with her level of all of those things deserves respect! Or at least she has my respect I don't know about the rest of the Bojack fandom. Sure even PC has had her share of "rock bottom" type moments, But she always managed to pick herself up and get her head back in the game.

Also considering her mom's necklace was actually made in the early/late 60s, it's HIGHLY likely it was made of or with lead and lead poisoning can happen through skin absorbtion in amounts small enough that YOU may not get sick outwardly but it can cause other health concerns such as fertility issues and miscarriages. Between the constant stress and the lead, it's amazing she was able to get pregnant in the first place. I'm glad she got her baby in the end.

The part where Robyn is upset she can't conceive despite being childfree is an actual thing. I've read the accounts of staunchly CF women that felt upset at learning of their infertility. They fully admit it shouldn't upset them, but its an irrational response from the brain. Basically just learning that even though they never wanted to pursue that avenue, its closed off to them forever is upsetting

19:20 as a vet student, I can confirm this is all true when it comes to animal reproduction. I don't know how anthropomorphic animals in the Bojack universe work in terms of reproduction but cats and dogs have a gestation period of roughly 9 weeks (63 days) and are litter bearing animals. Also instead of menstruation, mammals go through what is called estrus, which is basically the time their estrogen levels are highest and is the time to mate and conceive

She didn't want her kids so she chose to get rid of them. There's a difference. My mother just tells me to get over it since it happened years ago. smh

Not too long after one of my aunts' got married, she tried pretty hard to get pregnant. It got to the point to where she and her husband turned to fertility shots and IVF. I would see how her thighs had bruises all along them from all the injections she gave herself every night and wondered how she could withstand it giving herself these shots every night. She was very determined to have a child. She had at least six miscarriages before she had a trustworthy pregnancy without it ending in the loss of child. Before she did have her kids (as she ended up with twins and didn't try for anymore after them), whenever mom told us that she had another miscarriage, she would tell my siblings and I to pray that she get pregnant and for it to be a successful pregnancy. Sometimes, I would suggest to my mom that my aunt adopt a child if she really wanted one so bad. Mom would get kind of annoyed and defensive when I would recommend this as if it was bad to adopt, even though it is something that is heavily encouraged by evangelicals (at least, they urge pregnant people who want or need to abort a pregnancy to choose to put up "God's little miracle" for adoption if they really don't want a kid). I don't know if my mom (and possibly her sister struggling to make a child) didn't like this idea because it would be too costly, that they don't want to have to tell the truth to her kid that their biological parents didn't want them, or because they would possibly be declined approval be allowed to adopt. I don't know what is more expensive, all treatments she went through as well as the hospital bill from having her kids or adopting a child. I have also learned that one reason adoption is not as used as often as people trying nail and tooth to conceive a child is because people don't want just any kid, they want a baby. It can very very hard to get a baby compared to all of the kids who have passed infancy (but that does not at all mean they are any less worthy of adoption). Even if a family does want to adopt any kid of any age, there are barriers in the way of that too. Reunification is the main objective to foster care, they want to treat adoption as a last resort (at least, there are probably some cases where the kids would be much better off being adopted out of their birth family). Another problem is that if someone wants to adopt a kid internationally, it can be very difficult for the child to adjust to life in a totally different place. It's all a far too convoluted situation.

as someone thats infertile and never wanted kids til later in life, I may adopt or foster some day. But it will never make up for or replace not being able to conceive. Its likely that your aunt may have tried that one day, but the irritation you felt from them might be more about the assumption that "having a child in the end" is the entirety of the issue. Whether its understandable to an outside perspective or not, its a huge loss to grieve when you can't conceive and you're not just grieving the lack of a baby, you're grieving the chance to choose and the experience of pregnancy itself. It also takes a massive toll to process your body just not functioning in a way that humans naturally assume is "god given", something we should be able to count on, its "what our body was made to do, it HAS to be possible!" Not to mention the horrible things some will say about people who are infertile. I've heard people talk about it being gods will and that person just didn't deserve to be pregnant. In other people's quest o rationalize our infertility they can be rather insensitive for their own sake. anyways, its a lot to process and people recommending other avenues to get a child do miss the first core wound to infertility. We have to grieve our own experience first before moving on to those logical actions to adopt/raise a child.

However during a miscarriage or abortion the material left inside can cause issues on their own however after the loss the remaining material will start to rot like a standard dead being which if not completely expelled or removed can cause deadly consequences for the host. I tried to be as clean as possible because again I have no opinion on the matter. P.S. I hope you all have a fantastic day and stay safe.

And I still am, but I've come to understand why and to deal with it more healthily (I think?). But I've also had so many people question the fact that I don't feel the need to get married (which doesn't mean I'm anti-relationship, but marriage hasn't been an end focus for me for many years) and not wanting my own children. It's as if they can't conceive there's another way to live.

A majority of the time, miscarriages are often a mostly if not completely natural process. The terminated foetus will usually expel on its own without medical intervention. Medical intervention is sometimes required (but not always), which could mean medication or “minor” surgery. There shouldn’t be any shame in this.

While PC does have fertility issues due to her age and other factors on top of miscarriages, I do want to clarify that recurrent miscarriages and infertility technically aren't the same. I have been pregnant a total of 5 times (I do have one child, he was my first pregnancy) and my husband and I do not have a problem with conception therefore we are not infertile, but none of those pregnancies went past 6 weeks and I do not know why. It takes a huge emotional toll when each one of these little ones were wanted, I don't know how PC kept going. Thanks.

Fun fact not Italy but Russia where it's hinted that Pc's family was rich/aristocracy and fled during the revolution. And that cats represent the czars and rats represent the working class who overturned and are now part of the current government

This is only a minor nitpick, but Cannes is pronounced "kan" like "soda can" or "beer can". Regardless, I don't think that the tongue-twister would make too much of a difference.

Ooh Bean, as in the Mre/xmre supplier of matches D.D Bean an son matches. [Used for mre emergency food or some of them tat have those included] 12:25 huh.. never really thought to- in-depth like beyond a shotgun wedding like thinking of sucj a thing as basically just the pre like actual day of the wedding type scenarios/sitiation.. but yeah that kind of does seem inevitably a awful lot like surefire precedence for a no good can come of this type situation ngl.. legit fr. Also I am suprised of how recently as much as the 90s even that standard/or society would have been SO mind blowingly different than the present day.. I just figured the mid 70s depending on context idk.. just..idk this really makes one- think *as much of a dumbass like probable.. epiphany as that seems like.. of me* how quickly yet all so slow the society expevtations or status quos are to change.. feels like room temperature molasses in some ways, an unrefrigerated/open but allowed to warm up imitation maple syrups speed.. so like slow vs runny kind of.. ig if that made sense.. Shit man in all honesty not pnly is this feel so deep it.. it could be a good reason I say fwiw that PC could be one of the best characters in Bojack Horseman/characters that have it the worst.. man it would so tough now to think of it who would not be on that list.. Shit if miscarraige also requires like surgery.. man thats like a terrifying alost permanent truama that is gotta be like one of those things that maybe repeats itself over and over an secretly the person never stops having it happen. Like almost a timeloop or even worse a broken/erratic/partial timeloop..

60 Thousand gees it's Depending on the age of the fur babies it can be either $100 or 350 or 450 dollars in a Dog or cat so maybe people should just adopt a Fur baby instead of a Human one. 😉🐶🐕‍🦺🐕🐈🐱❤
