    @Critique Everything Prince stole the song Adore you from his childhood best friend Andre and never gave him any credit for it or paid him. When Prince was asked about it he claimed it was a misprint that Andre wasn’t credited as a writer/producer of the song but if that was the case how come he never paid him anything at all or credited him on future albums that had that song. Prince also didn’t pay his employees fairly or at least that’s what most of them are now saying including Appolonia saying her and the other 2 girls weren’t paid for that song sex shooter even though Prince made millions from the soundtrack that song was featured on. There are a lot of his ex musicians employees interviews on KZread telling of how they were underpaid by Prince, most recent I saw was some of his old band members including Morris Day, Jimmy Jam and Applonia confirming this sadly. I also heard but can’t confirm that Vanity reached out to to him for money when she was sick and had medical bills and he refused and instead she said that Eddie Murphy gave her money to help with her medical bills. The source for that would be in her book.

    @@pastorofmuppets22According to whatever is written out there, and on the internet, Mayte met Prince because her mother brought her to his concert when she was in her teens. They married when Prince was 38. They had a child that, sadly, did not survive. Why would you bismirch Prince's name by writing that he slept with a 15 y.o. when he was 41. Additionally, people around him said there was no way he abused drugs. He did not live that lifestyle. He was not perfect. He was a human being, but he was highly focused, talented, gifted.

    Prince was the hardest working man in show biz, he worked hard since his teen years to get to where he was. His early band members were complaining that Prince worked them too hard? They were young guys and already complaining lol It goes to show that they didn't want fame as bad as Prince they were too busy going to the movies and taking trips to Disney World. No wonder Prince left them behind and Pepe saying that Prince got weird in later years i find it insulting Prince was woke he knew what he was doing standing up to WB etc. Pepe seems old school when it comes to artist rights he has no clue i think Prince knew he had to leave all of those people behind if he wanted to succeed,, i think he thought that they were holding him back from his dream. Prince kept working himself never gave up and it paid off. The GOAT 🎸🎤🎹💜

    Just like in any industry you have to surround yourself with like minded people to move forward. You never want to be the smartest in your circle of colleagues, you won't learn anything new. I find it strange that some people have a problem with Prince changing his band from time to time, it was his career and that was his right. Pepe was salty because he and others wanted to stay in Prince's orbit forever but still complained he was a workaholic. Obviously making music was fun for him, it was his whole being. He opened doors for a lot of them and it was up to them to move forward afterward. it wasn't his responsibility to take care of them for life.

    Prince got booed off the stage in 1981. These are the albums he worked on in 1981 and 1982: Controversy, The Time, 1999, What Time Is It. That's 4 albums in 2 years including a double album. Then he took a break in 1983. After that he released an album every year through 1992. That comes out to 16 albums in 14 years from 1978 to 1992. Taylor Swift has 9 albums in 14 years and she didn't write every song, play every instrument, mix and produce every album. The difference is that in the past, talent came first. People just expected it. And Prince had all of it. Swift is in an era where music sucks, talent generally goes unrewarded and no one has control over their own stuff nor seems to want it, not to mention they don't work that hard. For them, touring is where they make money. For Prince, touring was where he had fun. Prince was a musician. Swift is a marketer.

    I feel really bad for André Cymone. 🥺 I love Prince, but I think he was cutthroat when it came to achieving his dreams early-on. Andre’s mom was like P’s second mom. They LIVED together. And still, André got left by the wayside. Imagine being Dre and hearing your songs at the top of the charts... but someone else is getting all the money/credit. Devastating. 😭 Even when he tried to go solo, it didn’t last long. P had already made his mark.

    @@artfull334 Agreed. Andre is my favorite too, just because he’s so down to earth, and he doesn’t hold any grudges toward Prince to this very day. Morris, on the other hand, is still doing interviews bringing up how he “should’ve been paid more” for Purple Rain. Distasteful, but I digress. I LOVED the bits and pieces of that memoir Prince started (The Beautiful Ones). I’m so sad he passed before he could finish, because it was really good. I’m sure he would’ve touched on the Andre situation, and maybe even Vanity. Who knows!

    @@artfull334 I agree with your last sentence. It is human nature to be a little jealous that your friend is on the rise and you are in his band, especially when you are young like they were. Andre is the only one I wished Prince was still close to, some of the others not so much. From my understanding Prince was still always close to Miss Bernadette (Andre's Mother). Heard Andre say in an interview P also went to visit her in the hospital before she passed.

    @@artfull334 Hmm interesting theory! 🤔 I also think P might’ve gravitated toward extroverted people because he was pretty reserved himself. Maybe he was attracted to people that could balance him out; crack jokes, bring him out of his shell. People say that P was pretty cold if he didn’t know/trust you. Literally, he wouldn’t even speak. But once he liked you - he wouldn’t shut up LOL. Also when it came to women, his mom was definitely a fireball, and yeah so was Vanity. 🤷🏿‍♀️ I didn’t know he sent money to those three! Wow, he must’ve been feeling pretty bad. What a kind spirit he was. Miss him!

While he was living he never said anything negative about people who were in his life at one time, maybe in a song without names. He allowed people to attack his character and he wouldn't respond. What's that saying "Weak people get even, Strong people forgive, Intelligent people ignore". He definitely ignored. LOL

    Prince did the same thing he did to Brown Mark with "Kiss" what he did with Morris Party Up. I think what it was ,he lacked some inspiration. So on hearing Party Up from Morris, it inspired him. I find it the most funkiest track on Dirty Mind. I used to play it all the time. Now I know why he liked it.

  • @chica4530

    @chica4530

    3 жыл бұрын

    Actually there's 2 different stories about Kiss, one by Brown Mark and one by David Z. So who do we believe? Also, pertaining to Party Up, Prince and Morris had an agreement about that song. Morris said, Prince heard it and reworked it and offered him money for the song or he would help him get a recording contract, Morris chose the contract and band. So nothing was done underhanded with Morris about that song. These are 2 different scenarios.

Especially after not crediting him. Oh yeah I think cow bell. Really? But, Prince was right. The song was better suited for him.

Really him. Peggy Mac talks about it because she was the engineer at Sunset Sound when it happened. I think David Z got some credit but not Brown Mark. David Z feels he did much more than Brown Mark on retooling “Kiss”. Neither were happy with Prince about that. LOL.
